Hallo all Hainanese brothers & sisters.

Unfortunately my dad never bother teach his kids hainanese so none of us understand a word of it.

Anyways ... do any of you know what's the best way to trace my "middle name" in the family tree? Cos I going to have anak in near future liao and according to chinese/hainanese tradition i'm supposed to trace my village generation tree to find out what is my anak middle name, right?

(for my siblings middle name, is my grandma tell my dad what to put, but she pass away liao and my dad never inherit her knowledge)

surname = Tan 陈
middle name = Ti 世

my dad said next time he go penang will try ask at the hainanese association wah ...

Wei, seeking help and opinions from all hainanese bro and sis here.

My dad is Hainanese and middle name 昌. Me and brother are middle name 世. But after my grandma pass away we dunno what is the next middle name in the family tree. Any idea how to go about finding it?

My dad went to government school and dunno all these things. Only other clue he can give is that his parents come from bunsio or boonsio village.

Anyway forgot to update here, got good news got bad news. We asked around and the good news is managed to find the poem!!!! So my brother's kid now got the proper middle name from the poem.

The bad news ... the kid is the last name in the poem, lol ... so when the kid got his own kids then I dunno how to find the continuation liao
