i register for my offspring only, if they get good grade can get money from hainan society. lol. luckily my sis attend hainan speaking class then the teacher kind enough to be our recommender.

i remember the cash prize for high grades... when go up stage to collect, must know how to greet and thank in hainanese or forfeit...

Yea. I realised that there are very few hainanese girls around. Mostly guys I dunno why sweat.gif Good!!!! I got less competitors! LOL. I don't have the good genes though. I'm only half hainanese now... tongue.gif

But talking to those people who are a pro in hainanese also a bit pressure. LOL. Cuz I'm half bucket now as I don't speak to my grandma that often anymore (living in overseas that's why) sad.gif

I hope I dun forget how to speak the language in future >.<

Growing up in the durian town, I had some hokkien and toechew friends who could speak hainanese and a few hainanese friends who refused to speak hainanese. They rather conversed using 'kok way'(aka hua yee).

Well, I don't think they refused to speak the language but rather, they weren't taught by their parents on how to speak hainanese! Some told me that their parents can't even speak hainanese!!! Gosh.

I, for instance, am proud for being able to speak hainanese tongue.gif

I don't understand why your friends refused to speak sweat.gif
