hun, when is kiah's joey coming out of pouch.??
just wondering whether is a male or female...

Ah, now I really dunno bout her coz I think her last joey in pouch she aborted or something as she got no more bump now. Do wait a bit, I think Kinta or Kapi may have but it is too early to tell yet coz they never sit still for me to see clearly. I can see bulgy pouch but dunno if got joey in pouch or not.

Wait for your little Bubba. He is so cute. Always crab when I feed his parents.....anyway, haven't learn how to eat solids yet.

Hahaha... Bonai, offer me RM1500 so tempting.... but Bubba already booked by them hehehehe. Don't you feel sad a bit whenever each joey leaves you? I do but i always tell myself, they are going to a better home.

Underage joey care. Google up and learn. It is your mistake so you have to deal with it. KJ did it, he learnt his lesson and when I saw him caring for his Glynx when she was underage, I was very impress by how he and his gf became so dedicated and responsible. They read up on underage joey care, provided full attention and also carried a baby bag everywhere they went with joey milk, food, hot water, towels..... just like caring for a baby.

Bonai and me may be able to care for it but do we have the time? It's not fair to push your responsibility to us coz Bonai has 7 gliders of his own, plust dunno how many joeys he have now to care. I got 10 gliders living with me, plus my extended family of pets. Bonai also have other pets to care..... we may not have enough time to give to an underage joey.

Judy looks super pretty.

Anyway..... DO NOT LISTEN TO THE CRAP PEOPLE AT PET SAFARI SAY!!!! Why???? Coz it is NONSENSE!!!!! Gliders do not use sand bath. Sand bath is for rodents that have greasy fur. Even rabbits don't use it so why on earth must gliders use it? Bugger those stupid staff.... wanna slap them.

Wah... emino, that amount I feed for 1 glider hahahah..... My gliders very teruk, each one must have their own bowl or will gaduh. So I gotta get more bowls from Pet Shack tomorrow hahahah.

Anyway, Naya and Pama are ok with me taking Bubba out. They do not call or cry for him. Naya and Pama are semi tame, Pama is the most shy glider as he would hide in his pouch whenever I open their cage. Naya would come out and let me touch her. Handling Naya is a challenge as she would wanna jump away when I stand still.

emmm... can use x moon light bulb for SG???
*
Yes, you can but then is really a waste of electric lah hahaha.... they won't really benefit coz gliders got large eyes that is for night time, so they can see better than us, no need light. But it is up to you lah.

QUOTE(emino @ Jun 24 2008, 09:11 AM)
Because if I give them more, they usually doesnt finish it. So I give them that much, and handfeed them some more in the morning.
*
Ohhh, no wonder hahah... Aiyoh, pening, today I bought 4 more stainless steel bowls. Got 9 gliders, so must have 9 bowls.

QUOTE(my stich @ Jun 24 2008, 09:45 AM)
Good morning to all,

Stich has finally slept in the sleeping pouch, weeee . but, Stich likes to make noise whenever i put him the the bonding pouch, huhu, how do i train him? i succeeded in putting him in the pouch but before that he will make noise. does this mean he doesn't like it? thank you for your kind advise.
*
You just got your Stitch rite? Then it just needs time to get used to pouches lah. Don't expect 1 day kinda training. What noise is he making? I mean.... gliders have many different noises.... so if you do not tell us properly, how do we know what it means? Actually, if you have done research, you would know what that noise mean already.

Zoey is doing fine, tapi still not eating solid foods, only Pets Own milk, milk milk. smile.gif i tried introduce to her mealworms, she tried to eat it, but she cant grab the mealworm, because went i hold it for her, the mealworms keep on spinning and the zoey dah malas nak makan. so dia minum susu and tido minum susu and tido.
1 more thing, zoey suke gigit cage. is this normal?
*
Cage biting..... it normally means either the glider is tasting to know what is a cage or it has a compulsive behaviour problem. If she does it often, then it's compulsive behaviour....

Your joey so underage, she of course won't want anything else than milk lah. If you are a baby, and you were given a choice of a bottle of milk or a plate of roast chicken and rice, which would you take? Milk rite? You gotta understand, she is just a baby, don't expect her to take fruits and mealworms readily.

QUOTE(Jamien @ Jun 24 2008, 03:51 PM)
Wah... I'm so jealous. I wan my own suggie also lar...

Just curous, how you feed milk to your suggie? With syringe? Or just give a bowl she lick herself?
*
If a joey is underage, normally a syringe or a dropper bottle. Syringe is easier to find and cheaper than those dropper bottle. Plus it is made of plastic, so it has to be changed frequently. When I use syringes, I would change it every 2 to 3 days to avoid bacteria build up. When a joey is 6 weeks OOP, it can learn how to drink from a plate or bowl.... but if they are still with their mom, there is no need for it lah.

QUOTE(NewbieBetta @ Jun 24 2008, 05:05 PM)

Still trying to bond wif them...

~this is shee~
Anyway, they will only be up around 1@2 am and back to sleep around noon...
therefore, will be a lil bit hard for me to find some time to spend mif my babies.
did tried to force them to wake up but...hmmm..seems that they love to stay in the pouch...
tak sampai hati nak kacau  them so many times..heheheh...

advice anyone??thanks ya..
*
Well, gliders adapt easily... but I normally leave them alone till night time, then only will I handle and play. It is up to you when you wanna wake them up in the evening. If you are having a problem with 1 or 2am, then slowly try waking them up at 12am.... then when they are ok with this timing, you can even wake them at 11pm. My 4Ks are normally up around 11pm onwards. Naya and Pama are awake around 12am, Gizmo and Sugus now are up and about around 10pm plus.... only my odd one is Keera and she only gets up at 3am.... but she sleeps after awhile, then wakes at 6am barking, then sleep back and wake again at 10am or 11am.... weird glider LOL.

tried also, but she wont eat it, she just lick it
warhhhh!! very cute suggies u had there smile.gif
welcome nadnad
*
Who taught you to put in the water bottle? Did you know that what you have just done is contaminated the water bottle? The plastic is not heat proof, so if you wanna disinfect it with hot water also cannot.... normal soap cannot get rid of the bacteria trapped in the water bottle.... using Detol may help but if you do not wash properly, you may end up poisoning a glider..... Just use a syringe. If you are lazy at using a syringe, then I dunno what to advice already. You cannot take easy ways out. You are now responsible for a very fragile life. It is not independent 8 week OOP joey, so you must take extra measures into caring for her.

QUOTE(Jamien @ Jun 24 2008, 07:11 PM)
blush.gif When he said hammock, he meant his hand. It is the best I guess if your suggies are tame.

Just a confirmation, it is totally ok to keep 1 suggie on her own as long as you keep her with you and give her lots of attention right? Is anyone doing that?
*
Well.... I think keeping 2 is still the best. Last time I only kept one at first, and I saw that a single glider misses out in a lot of things. Communication, grooming and glider interaction and companionship..... so.... to me, it is best to always end up with a pair.

QUOTE(hazzy @ Jun 24 2008, 07:31 PM)

Anyway, hun! i bought ur glider slurp and pets own milk just now from Pet Shack (actually my gf bought it for me because im working right now). hope Zoey gonna love it, fuuuh worried about her. I wonder how long this GliderSlurp will last without freezer? because im at my office now.
*
It can last about 5 hours before the quality starts to deteriorate..... you better get home fast.

With 2 female and 1 male suggies...Wowww..my life sure havoc after this...but i'm loving it...can't wait for their arrival...

Anyway...thanks Hun...for letting us having BoBo...really appreciate it.. smile.gif

I was so happy to hear that you and your sis would like BoBo. Thanks so much.

Well, I will make an appointment soon to neuter him for you. Then you can take him once he has recuperated from the surgery.

Best thing is to keep separately first since your 2 female joeys are gonna be young joeys. BoBo would need to be housed separately for about 2 months. Best is to give him 3 months then only start the introduction. In the span of 3 months, do bonding and handling with BoBo and for sure he would make a nice pet.

firstly i used a syringe, but its hard for Zoey to lick it, so i use a bowl then since she can lick the milk by herself, but do i need to disinfect the bowl everytime i want to put a new milk?
about the bottle, can i just rendam with detol for 1 night? is this gonna disinfect the bottle?
about the GilderSlurp, i bought the apple, mango n pear with chicken.
but still she dont want it.
oh yea, and 1 more thing, is it ok for Zoey to drink milk everyday without eating any other foods?
i thought its gonna cause a diarrhea?

thank you again hun smile.gif

*
Pets Own milk cause diarrhea? Noooooooo.....

And yes, at her age..... I dunno how many times I repeated this.... but at her age, she would rather drink milk. You when baby drink milk or eat chicken and apple?

GliderSLURP is meant for weaned joeys. You have to mix the milk with the slurp in order for you joey to try eating. And do not rendam the bottle like that. Can cause your glider to have poisoning lah.... goodness.... rendam in salt water. I mention wash with detol but then it can cause poisoning if not washed properly... if rendam, lagi lah.... bottle is plastic.... plastic cannot simply wash with chemicals. Glass can but not plastic unless it is the high grade plastic for baby bottles.

Use glass bowls.... do not use plastic bowls when feeding milk. Glass or stainless steel.

Pets Own Milk does not cause diarrhea.. over feeding/force feeding will definitely cause diarrhea.. and believe me, u don't want an underage joey with diarrhea problems.. they will have no energy at all.. even to walk..

so the technique is, do not feed a large amount of milk one shot.. feed small portions and repeat every 4-5 hours.. that's better.. or just leave in a bowl and let them drink/eat on their own good time..

underage joey separated early from their parents at young age do eat solid food like fruits.. most probably there's something wrong with your joey.. please find those sweet expensive papaya at shopping malls and cut them into small tiny little cubes.. offer them! or try those damn sweet mangoes.. i mean really sweet and nice ones..
BoBo is at adoption thread quite a while alread la..
I hope BoBo is really2 tame coz this is ekazakaria's first glider..
We heard a few 'giving up' cases with those newbie who starts with adult gliders..
hope this doesn't happen to ekazakaria..
many of us also started with adult gliders..
some are WC summore.. hahaha!!
sure most of us will give support to you!
good luck!

That is if overfeeding. I do know that. All milk products will cause diarrhea if given too much. To rehydrate from diarrhea... good to feed Gatorade sports drink hehehe.

Actually, Dr Jenny advice that underage joeys should have a low fiber diet first. So papaya is great.

Yah, if can, wash the glass bowl with hot water. It kills germs. It doesn't need to be boiling, just hot. Last time I tried with a hamster bottle, and it kemek in a second....

Anyway, mix the Slurp with milk. At least she can get her nutrients from there.

Yellow is normally from staining and musk. Female gliders that never stay with a male would have white white tummy fur.

ok thank you hun, i'll buy some papaya for her soon.
anywya, if i mix the Pets Own milk with GliderSLURP wont make the milk poisonous?
*
Nah, it won't be poison. SLURP is an all natural food supplement for gliders. Even Hands and Paws clinic would recommend if they have customer with sick or thin joeys.

My GliderSLURP got thumbs up from oversea keepers as well coz it is all natural and healthy. Summore got Atlantic Kelp... where to find? LOL...

No, give only as treats. Leave it for special bonding occasions.

does anyone familiar wif Nawlin's Own Sugar Glider Express? (http://www.sugargliderexpress.com)
stumble upon the website while looking recipi...very interested wif their products specially on the foods & vits for SG..
*
Don't give everyday..... not good. Only leave it as a bonding or training treat.

If you import, bound to have shipping fees and our Malaysian custom fees.... but if you wanna get, no harm getting.

About the recipes.... do not use raisins. Do not use honey as honey is too sweet and can cause teeth decay, which can lead to lumpy jaw.... too much honey can cause diarrhea as well.

hola hola everyone!!!!!

my skin are full with scratches and scars hahah thanks to stoney b.

yesterday he eats a lot of mealworms, like 30 of them? huhu siap makan dgn style baring lagi, will post the pics later hehehe. he loves to do his exercise on the wheel, but currently using a small wheel so mcm tak muat asyik nak terjatuh je hehehe.

his gay partner bree is not around, so kesian him play around by himself. malam2 barking cari kawan hehe..

so now he's bonded with me and my bf la the most, but with my housemate pun okay jer, tak crabbing macam dulu. the other day he peed on my bf's face hahaha.. he's getting chubbier, eating like mad. makan, main, tido.

we're planning to buy his wife to be, precious. is it too early to do match making? hehe how old for sg to start matting? ; )
*
Scratches normal, my arms all ada hahah... that's the drawback with gliders, they give all the scratch marks.

Wow, 30 is too much! Cut down to 10. Someone posted my advice on a US forum, and I stated 10 mealworms a day. You know what the US people replied? They said that is too much.... LOL.... but I am guessing coz they feed other things as well daily such as chicken meat, turkey meat, alot of BML or Leadbeater's mix.... those are high in protein so it could that lah. Anyway, just limit 10 to 15 a day. 30 is too much coz it is high in phosphorus, you would just be providing Stoney alot of fat and also reduce his body's calcium level.

Try and get a Wodent Wheel. The best. My gliders super duper love their Wodent wheel. Now I gotta save to buy 3 more.... sigh....

If you plan to get a female, read up on it. KP already mention about early breedings. The best is neutering Stoney if you wanna get a female. Or just get another male as Stoney's friend. Because all they need is just companionship, not to start a family.

Huh? KP mentioned on early breedings before? Ala.. missed the part, hard to delve into the past info..

I wonder what about early breedings?
*
Chicken is better than tuna. Coz Tuna still is high in natural salt. I read somewhere that we should never give beef.

Anyway, yah, KP did mention about early breedings in the last page.... but we did discuss about it once but I dunno which thread is that.

Protein can be in the form of cooked meat, raw meat and insects....

Normally I give mealworms, crickets and cooked chicken or turkey.

In US, some breeders give their gliders 1 day old chicks..... raw.... as in they take a chick and kill it and put in a bowl for the gliders to eat. I would say cooked is better coz sometimes raw got bacteria.

Wheat.... actually, I have been reading on diets again, and oversea keepers actually give a bit of wheat cereal. Like Wheat squares... those imported breakfast cereal that is made of wheat. I'm gonna try it.

They charge for RM10 per glider. Nail O Matic is something we need but I'm not going to buy it just yet. Probably August too.
Hi Hun, any gliderslurp stock delivered to Pet Shack recently? I called Joan, no pick up, text no reply. Since you're here (SO LATEE OREDI!), hope you dont mind me directing the question to you. Haha smile.gif Tomorrow going to send my babies to Pet Shack to cut nails if they open in time.
*

Alot of people put business first.... The suppliers doing it to gain money, and with the demand, money comes easily to them. If we pull someone that has no knowledge on gliders, then we ask them to choose an underage joey and a 8 week OOP joey, which would that person choose? Well, he or she would most likely choose the underage joey coz it is clingy and helpless while an 8 week old joey would wanna jump around and explore and act naughty.

I don't support PS with the way they are doing.... but then it is all coz demand.... so if we spread the words around, let people know about joeys that are underage, then we can stop all this underage buying business.

Oh yah people, it is not only happening to Pet Safari and other petshops..... Here, in this very forum, got 1 seller is doing the same thing. He is telling people that joeys should be separated from their mom at 4 weeks OOP so that it can be trained to be tame. Then must handfeed and nurse with god knows what milk he ask his customers to buy...... BEWARE people..... he is in this forum and not active in this thread. That is what he is selling and that is what advice he is giving..... so.... I wonder how long those joeys can live up to..... 5 years? Crazy.... Bubba is already 38 days OOP and he still hasn't tasted any solid food or GliderSLURP yet coz he has all the milk he can get from his mom.

Damn easy to get cheated... Lucky I got Hun. rclxm9.gif This is the differnce between experience and knowledge. With knowledge, you know but you can't be sure. With experience, you will never doubt it.

Thanks again Hun~

I feel so bad for those 4 weeks OOP babies...

Yah, anyway, glad to have given you some info on joeys. Sometimes I really feel like kicking those unethical sellers. I wish I can ban them from selling LOL... but then I can't coz there is no rule in LYN about selling underage pets.

Yes ah, 3 more weeks. Bubba now likes to climb up the highest point of my body, which is my head. He would sit up on my head, with all his limbs grabbing onto my hair. Kinda cute. I will miss him once he goes to his new home blush.gif But then I won't need to worry coz he will have great company and loving people smile.gif

It's feeder lizards... normally they are lizards from the wild. People catch them for snakes to eat. Some would even offer to their gliders.

Anyway, the pics of the joeys..... pitiful.... KJ, you don't mind if I write an article using your pics in my blog rite?

already cant put long..if get those belum masak..its not sweet..they wont makan..

What you do is freeze the mango. When you freeze in the freezer, it last longer and Mango taste nicer when put in freezer, almost creamy like ice cream.

Wei KJ, I went to PS today.... kinda feel sorry for the joeys..... coz 1 died! In front of my face.... I told the guy:

"Psssttt.... wei, sudah mati."
And he was like "Tak lah, tidur"
Then I pointed the joey out, he open the tank and touch.... cold.....
Then this small group of customers crowded and ask why did it die?

Stupid reply:

"Oh, coz ada banyak in 1 tank, so dia mati coz tak dapat makan. Rebut makan lah"......

doh.gif doh.gif cry.gif cry.gif Can 4 week old joey rebut makan?

Anyway...... one LYN seller in Garage sales is a supplier. He has 200 gliders..... and he is separating each joey at 4 weeks OOP.

You know what is his reply when asked why separate at 4 weeks OOP?

- When the joey is 4 weeks OOP, it doesn't need the mother's milk anymore
- It doesn't need the mom's pouch, nor does it want to hang on the mom
- It is independent, roaming about the cage
- Keeping a joey till 8 weeks OOP would cost more, at 4 weeks OOP Rm280, at 8 weeks it cost Rm500....

What kinda crap is that?

Then he said that the joeys after separate need to eat a mixture of Heinz Baby cereal mixed with jar baby food and crushed mealworms.... wah, man, so high in phosphorus and so little calcium. Bad bone growth.

Apparently doesn't give any pouch or coconut or birdhouse to hide, he just give tuppaware to sleep in.... no wonder the joey roams about, it wants to sleep in a dark corner.

So..... what crap seller do we have in LYN?

QUOTE(saramic @ Jun 30 2008, 07:44 PM)
