QUOTE(skyther @ Sep 7 2008, 11:22 AM) Sounds like you're describing SuperFis. Grados and Etys are like at completely different ends of the spectrum though, I tend to find Grados more coloured which gives it its fantastic adaptability to rock/live music while ER-4s are as transparent as transparent gets... ie. flat. I wish I still had my ER-4Ps though, they were my main portable IEMs for a good 2 years before they got stolen along with my iPod. Whether it is towards which sound signatures, it is just a general guideline, I've not heard Grados frankly, and my ex ety was definitely not Senn sounding. I've sold my Ety, we should have been communicating for a deal .

Nah ER-4s sound nothing like Senns... in fact I find them quite the opposite. I probably wouldn't buy ER-4s again, they're nice but a bit too neutral for outdoor use. They're exactly what they are.. monitors. Lots of detail but absolutely no colouration. RS-1s are very very very nice for live music... its hard not to start tapping your feet when you listen to one.

it's all depend on synergy between your ear/brain, player/source and earphone.
it's endless arguement which one is better. BK/McD, BMW/Merc, Ferrari/Lambo, etc lol
best is to try and hear for yourself.

QUOTE(BigSaver @ Oct 2 2008, 03:11 AM) er..just wanna know..among all the driver in the ephone(triple,dual,dynamic..etc)..which one is good?? can sumone explain.. It is a complex issue with no certain answer. If someone is trying to sell you the idea that one kind of IEM design is far better than the other, than he/she is either 1) trying to lie to you or 2) don't know what he/she is talking about. The IEM technology are still evolving very fast (in comparison to big cans), and those you think is inferior might become the star of tomorrow. For example, two years ago everyone thought triple drives was how balanced armature going to be, but Sleek Audio and Klipsch now have single drive that can rival two and three drivers.

Real good reviews! safe lotsa time for those who are searching their right IEMs.
A lil off topic, I wish to hear how you find se530's cables? After waited for a year, westone 3 still doenst seem to be releasing soon, hence I've ordered se530, although i've heard their infamous cable cracking issue.
I have a pair of E4c, the cable cracked TWICE, on my third pair after warranty (and Im feeling they'll crack eventually). Its a shame that shure carried the cable problem from the E to SE series... Since the cable hardens overtime then crack, I wana prevent it from happening from the first minute i wear them. I've searchd on head-fi, the only solution is cleaning the cable with damp cloth and a hint of soap.
i wish to know how you take care of your se530's cable? Or is there any easy mods to save the cables? Or any good ways to mount the cable with something before they crack?

I don't have any special care on the cable. The cracking cable issue is most apparent on the SE530 before 2008. Since this year, Shure has change the cable material so the new version has more resistance to cracking. OF course, you can use Armorall, but I don't know how well it actually is since I don't use it.

Getting Started

|
If you could get a SE530 for RM950 and a triple.fi for RM875, which would you get? I can't decide... Currently have a super.fi, quite pleased with it, but never tried the shures.

QUOTE(sep90 @ Oct 4 2008, 06:07 PM) buy the armorall protection liquid used for car waxing Is it the one called "Amor All Protectant"? Ok, will look for it when I return to KL. Thanks a bunch! That's what I heard too, but there still seem to have lotsa heavy users having the problem, and I have very oily skin so think i shall clean the cables often. thanks for the info anyway!

It is all about listening preference.
