Testing and will see how it goes. But what's the theory behind that .dll thingy? A single file (even if we are not running G) will still autorun and consume our poor batt?! Thanks!!! notworthy.gif

QUOTE(davidmak @ Nov 27 2008, 03:32 PM)
Guys, I think I found the solution to our battery problems. I found information from another forum:

Garmin Mobile XT version 5.00.20

Change History:
Changes made from version 5.00.10 to 5.00.20:
Update the subcategories listed for City Navigator Europe 2009 maps.
Correct various out of memory conditions that can occur.
Correct the processing of a received Location Message to not save the point on the Recent Finds list.
Correct the processing of received text messages to not close the GMXT application when a text message is received without a subject.
Correct an error that occurs when a headset is plugged into some devices.
Correct the use of the directional pad for movement between hyperlinks within Flight Status.
Correct saving and editing waypoints with non-English characters.

Tips On 5.00.xx

Delete CardRunner.dll from sys\bin will save ~20% standby battery power, if you don't want to use location message.

Happy enjoying your Nokia E71. Finally....

Oh my gosh ... ... ... well ... I had garmin since day 1 ... so ... I can't tell there's an impact on batt life then. But hope this really works, that 20% can do a hell lot justice for my 'leather-thickening-steel'. Thanks!!!

I have accessed my E71 with 'mass storage' mode via USB, then located the .dll file, and added some text behind the extension to deactivate it. (Remove it is the best to go I guess if you do not need the service no more.)

I'm having this problem too. Can you share the steps to rename the files without messing Garmin up ?

Not white here. But even white will turn yellow gradually, so I doubt you'll get it anew with just a wipe. (golden rule, keep your thumbs/fingers clean) As ... it is not 'nano treated' eh ... (unless they made it into something like PSP, that would assure you can wipe it without worries, or dirt it without worries)

Oh ho! Thanks for the feedback!!! (Whao, I didn't knew you had a review regarding invisible shield.) Guess it is for people that is extra careful. Not me.

Ha ha ha ha ha, poor SE losing a big bunch there.

QUOTE(jameslee_84 @ Nov 28 2008, 04:56 PM)
well, it depends really how u want to protect it and the feeling u are looking for. the invisible shield is made of high quality films that prevent scratches on the phone which is really excellent base on reviews i've had. But remember, it doesn't cover camera lens if I recall correctly. The negative point is that it doesn't prevent damage from a drop. I once drop my phone from about 5 feet high as I was carrying some bags and luckily I have the original leather pouch which result in Zero damage. So, a full leather case with full coverage of every cornerwill of course provide better protection.

last thing is that u can always put both together. invisible shield is only a thin layer so it still can fit into leather case.
ray, u will regret taking a SE phone. It is a flagship phone but SE, bah...... "Ada bentuk ada gaya", but no 'isi' and quality. I used w810i before, my sister a w580i user, my mother a w910i user, my brother a p990i user, and my gf a z550i user.....

but now, I use E71, my sister uses iphone, my mom use Nk6300, and my brother uses N95, and my gf is anticipating a Moto Pebl/Rokr u9..... need i say more?

well, maybe u can check around first before deciding to buy, I'm sure a lot of ppl will come up with a comparison table and review of the X1 compare to the E71 sooner rather than later.

QUOTE(davidmak @ Nov 28 2008, 05:20 PM)
Update on the battery fix (Garmin-related) I found yesterday. It is working. An entire work day from 7am till 5.30pm with regular calls and texting and very minimal WIFI usage, only 1 bar is used!!! I think thats an improvement. I'll track more and see.

Depends on your preference.
It's a perfect phone for me due to:
1. I have a DSC-T2/W camera all the time (to compensate E71's so-so camera)
2. I have PSP and NDSL all the time (to compensate E71's lacking gaming arena)
3. I text a lot! (300smses per day combination of sending and receiving)
4. I stay with Wi-Fi anywhere I go. (Free web browsing with ease, and it's the fastest phone I come across at low low price range)
5. It's an advance phone, but it is so FAST! (Yea, try any smartphone and you'll tell, again, same price range comparison)

I charged with 350w charger (which is wrong, but it doesn't hurt, only took more time)
Never fiddle with Firmware.
Installed apps all along after acquisition, no rush.
Use until 1 bar. Sometime used until got time for a quick charge, just charge and pick it up once full.

Oh, my super 1st mission with E71, buying a screen filter and a leather case. (RM48 total, I know I'm conned.)
Cheers. And hope you'll join the club soon. rclxms.gif

May I know the things to-do for the new E71? like charge first, update firmware, install apps, use it until low battery, and etc etc etc??

I had never used an advance phone before and Im thinking of buying an E71, I hope its a good choice for long term usage.

Yea, I think it is much more reasonable now. Compared to the scary fast-drain behavior. Thanks a lot a lot!!! You da man!

Don't worry, you're still on track. My E71's performance has been amazing. I think its definitely working.

You should seriously consider to check and compare it at your dealer site.
Even my APset does not face any problem like this, nor that I would allow it.
E71 is famed for having the best solid build among N phones. So ... ... your case is definitely a ... BIG PROBLEM! Ha ha ha. Just joking, get it checked and get it replaced if possible, E71 (I tested both Ori and AP) shouldn't be giving you any worries/hard time. Especially the solid soft keys smile.gif

QUOTE(naziaf @ Nov 29 2008, 05:32 PM)
Mine is ori set. Does the warranty cover the keypad?

notworthy.gif Thanks a lot! This should really be enough. (And yeah, business is at risk here if this is 'named'. Understood!)

QUOTE(jameslee_84 @ Nov 30 2008, 01:29 AM)
this is what a forummer here told me about the invisible shield. I can't name any names, else it would be bad for those ppl who buy it from other forrumer here. Don want to stir up trouble with any seller. Here's what he said...

QUOTE(???)
well, i didn't manage to stick it to the steel parts as it is too slippery.. it doesn't deserve the name invisible as it is quite thick but yet rigid.. haven't dare to scratch it yet coz of the cost.. if u really wanna buy juz ask for the screen protecter.. not worth full body coz it looks stupid pieces plastics sticking on all over ur phone..

Firmware flashing issue. Was informed by the technician that this could happen if there's a glitch. (What and how it happens was not mentioned)
So get it back to the dealer and reflash it.

QUOTE(jenwai @ Nov 30 2008, 10:10 PM)
Just saw my friend get his new set.
The feel is so good. So solid...
I think I fall in love with this phone.
tongue.gif

But, he found a little bit problem with the key pad.
He is getting an AP set. The "?" button is not right. (When u press "?", it don't show the "?" mark on the screen, it's an comma.)

Anyone face this problem?

Phone call question:

Tried to answer my phone when I am at my 'home screen', it will immediately minimize the phone into a small icon to the top right, where I can't get a chance to pick 'speaker', it is showing 'back' instead. (tested side by side)

However, when I am answering while the phone is keylocked, that doesn't happen. I can still manage to see the call starts, the timer, and the choice of right softkey as 'speaker'.

Any SIFU knows what should I do to prevent incoming call from minimizing to the top right? Thanks. (it has some sort of lightning fast 'highlighting' animation happened on the first most 'task' icon at 'home screen' BEFORE it minimizes, all happen in split seconds!)
