Not sure wats the US price, but i think shud be cheaper if u get it with a line. but using Malaysian pricing, with qwerty, i recommend looking at Samsung Omnia and HTC Tytn 2

and u cant have keypad hardware with qwerty. only one model fits well if u MUST have keypad hardware plus qwerty and thats HTC s740. And its not touch screen

Actually I just need a budget PDA as my first WM device. My choices are down to Asus P320 and HTC Touch Viva. I realised that the Viva's price actually went up? Retail price was RM1299 now people selling in LYN for RM13xx. Is that normal? Anyway what's the difference between P320 and Touch Viva? I'm a PDA newbie so I'm not sure about it... do give some comments on the hardware, service, etc... Touch Viva has no GPS so cannot install GPS software?

Would it be a good idea to buy at PCFair? Or it's just an opportunity for them to totally rip you off?

@balkisfb, i dunno the price in US

@tgairborne, flashlight? hmmm, i recommend HTC Touch Pro

@danny, PC fair usually PC stuff cheaper, pda stuff like these no difference and no good deals. might as well buy here. And yes the P320 has GPS but Viva has more ram. Viva is probably more customisable. But it cannot install GPS software no point cuz no GPS chip. Never heard of price going up. I'm still selling at same price. u can check my siggy

QVGA = Quarter VGA. Means QVGA has quarter the resolution of VGA.

Then there's WQVGA = Wide QVGA
and WVGA = Wide VGA, which essectially is a bit wider than usual.

SInce your budget allows it, i recommend the Touch Pro, which is definitely the best among all thread if u can afford it

Actually I want a PDA which can serve as a real "PDA" and can last for few years. I don't need mobile phone feature since I already got a decent mobile phone. notworthy.gif

rehohk, use the form at first post, and nowadays for HTC models anyway, non keyboard devices got Virtual T9 keypad. Like typing sms with a normal phone like that but one screen can use one hand. and the letters are bigger than a normal keypad too. please fill in form at first post for recommendation.

@siuyi, Viva no GPS. PDF file reader is software, so u just need to get the software and you're good to go. i believe its a freeware download.

I recommend HTC P3600i, or the newer HTC Touch 3G

Added on December 14, 2008, 10:36 am@whoami123, in that case u want to go for Ipaq models for pure PDAs. HP Ipaq 210 is a powerhouse, while the 110 is a more budget model. I recommend 210.

I'm not sure how much is the price your aunt can get so i cant comment if its cheaper. if the device is your aunt buys is labeled and packaged as HTC, u can get it repaired here, but must pay. cuz essentially no warranty.

BUT if its a HTC device, but labeled by the operator (such as Sprint, vodafone) SIS will NOT repair even if u pay them since considered illegal.

no international warranties for HTC devices (or other pda branded devices as far as i know, maybe Ipaq, not sure)

I recommend a Touch Diamond, with extended battery. Its the TOP choice, super powerhouse, can do heavy gaming, sweet VGA screen too. RM 2400 + RM 250 (this is my price, so since u wanted price, u quote my selling price)

Alternatives would be HTC Tytn 2 and HTC Touch Cruise. Both fill in your specs, medium gaming, but in terms of entertainment power, less, due to the fact they dun have video drivers. see www.htcclassaction.org for info. and some more brand new (as u wanted) its price is not THAT much cheaper than diamond, but it IS cheaper. so your choice. i'd recommend go for diamond.

Tytn 2 and Cruise is 2420, and 2390 respectively.

u can also look at the cheap Asus P320, about 1.2k and has GPS.

i think even if u take out GPS, not much difference, cuz u want brand new lol. if u take out brand new and take out GPS, u can opt for a second hand Dopod 838pro. If you're lucky its less than 1k u can find.
