thx baronic! ur recommendations are exactly the same as what i'm expecting biggrin.gif but do u have any ideas of the price for both of these? I'm looking for a new unit...as for the processor wise, which 1 can perform better?(in terms of speed and stability)
*
they have exactly the same specs, but because of Xperia's X Panel, its just a tiny weeny bit more sluggish in comparison. i believe u can disable it, i'm not sure, u can check the Xperia thread.

As for the looks...u gotta see for yourself. Xperia is longer but narrower. WVGA vs VGA screen. u either love or hate it.

XPeria is definitely much much much cheaper.

because

SE is a brand that has always been involved in the HANDPHONE MARKET

HTC is a brand that has always been involved in the PDA MARKET.

despite the same OS, the people who buy it are different

HANDPHONE MARKET people change phone very often. PDA market people change phone less often, mostly cuz there's no real reason to. Most of the so called improvements are minor, not worth upgrading.

so because of SE's high turnover, the prices drops fast. IMHO the Xperia in comparison spec wise and relative to other PDAs, its grossly undervalued. still the aesthetics...like i said, u either love it or hate it. i just cant stand the narrow screen.

@danny, NO windows mobile can watch RMVB, and HD movies sure lag. for me i'd convert a full length movie to around 300mb max for watching. for touch 2, maybe a lil smaller. wat matters is the RESOLUTION of the movie. Touch 2 is QVGA so u wanna convert it to around that size, and use Coreplayer for best playback. will there be much improvement regarding new processor? well, for multimedia probably. For myself i'm reserving judgement until i can do some extensive testing on it. for me i wun buy a device till next year around July August, let things simmer down and any kinks worked out. PS: scew touch 2 go for second hand Touch HD
thank alot Baronic!
appreciated that. thumbup.gif

@beebee, brand new not much choices, but for value for money i'd recommend Touch HD second hand. brand new, maybe touch cruise the new version, or Touch 2. but i'd recommend second hand HD over those two models.
*
Thanks for the reply!

Kinda hard to find touch HD second hand now, when will HD2 launch? maybe the retail price for HD will drop then, i am considering Touch 2 & Cruise new version now, the specs seem to be same, why the price difference? How about Diamond 1? I kinda like the design of it.

Thanks Baronic! This a great guide for me. Guess i'm gonna go for the SE, since it gives me more "metal feel"

why so hard? garage sale so many.

HD2 is out end of this year.

Touch 2 and Cruise, marketing gimmick.

Diamond 1, no memory card expansion, low battery 900mah

consider second hand Touch Pro and Touch Diamond 2 also. Take note of Touch Diamond 2's batter as well

@blek, use the omnia thread

@CLvnator, patience, its not like i'm some 24/7 bot.

u seem to want the most basic of all basic PDAs, and your price budget is "as low as possible". which is vague. so i'm just gonna take a stab in the dark and say Dopod 838 pro second hand, less than 1k super easy can find. but remember u get what u pay for...

Boss/Baronic,
Hehehe... I was waiting for your reply and I can tell you that patience is rarely a virtue that i utilize.... Hahaha... Anyway, I got a Touch 3G today... Btw, how do i sync in all my Nokia N70 contacts into the Touch 3G? I tried bluetoothing all directly over, but some failed (especially those with multiple phone number entries)... I backed-up all these while my N70 phonebook in WAB format, but now I can't seem to find a way to send the contacts to the Touch 3G... Sigh... I know this may not be the right thread, but in that case, can you tell me the correct thread to query?

Thanks...

Just saw the price for HD2...RM2899..launched in KL 17th Nov but available end of this month onwards.

Just wondering when can Samsung bring in the OmniaPro B7330 as well as the OmniaLite B7300. Hope both phones are below the RM1.5k mark since they're not high end models.

Apparently on 19th Nov 2009, My hardcore kick ass phone the K850i was strucked with the pain of no LCD lighting in the background(which will cost me around 120 - 250 to fix. for a problem that I did dont do. However, upon constant cursing the brand known as SE, I have decide to jump the wagon to htc. However, I still couldn't not decide whether I want an android OS(HeRO) or the new WinMO 6.5(HD2)

Now it has come to my attention that the WinMO has a lot of pesky bugs now which lead me to believe that it might not be a good time to be getting a rather insecurely state of phone. While the HTC HERO running the android has rather decent history on a plus I have also read alot on the android forum on custom roms and shit.

However, spec based on camera wise the HTC HD2 wins without a doubt adding that the htc hero has rather awful picture taking ability due to the fact that it has no flash.

So what I ask of the kind Lowyat members, newbie, veteran and everyday user which phone do you think is best on.

1. Picture taking ability.
2. SMS,Text Input using the touchscreen, how does it differs from one product to another?
3. design of the phone. (the htc hd2 rather large for pocket , htc hero with the infamous chin of hate-love)

Please and thank you to all.
I'm Ismail and you just been railed in. (sxephil anyone???)

warrrghh so many requests.

calvinator, cant be done. u gotta transfer to simcard and transfer back out. unless u can somehow sync with outlook. windows mobile stores contact in outlook. i never use symbian in years already so i dont know if it can be done. i think it can tho. ask your symbian thread.

@nana26, thats high requirements for brand new. i think u can have a look at touch cruise 2

@seancorr, your question isnt relevant to this thread. smile.gif plus i dunno lawl

@kkljason, 400x840? wtf? what kinda resolution is that lolol. u better check up on that requirement. but among your three choices, Touch HD pawns without question.

@ISx, this thread is only for people who actually want to get win mo and needs recommendation. that said, camera for windows mobile is still bad compared to a real camera, sms and text input is the same for all devices for windows mobile, just gotta install the software. a lot of third party stuff too. design of the phone? decide yourself la. keep in mind here in win mo section we are more serious than other sections and we dont allow threads asking people to decide on subjective matters.

@vatsela, u DONT want it to be as thin as possible? hmmm, well since u wanna view documents, screen size is important. go for Touch Cruise 2, but i would STRONGLY recommend HTC Touch HD second hand.

@Itciu, HTC Touch Pro 2 since u want heavy gaming. there will be better devices in the near future for heavy gaming but those dun have front cam. and as far as gaming goes, well, its pretty darned good already anyway and any improvements is negligible.

the reviewer should be shot. most windows mobile can play avi just fine, u just need the proper player and codec. Coreplayer is the best, worth buying.

that said, dun even think about playing high def movies on PDA. per movie file 500mb is enough. your screen is only so big anyway, and extra resolution only squeezes the pixels and instead of getting better quality you get worse. so yea, convert your videos into appropriate resolution for best playing
