Don't worry, I'm sure they'll release a new update very soon. Because the problem is valid and serious. If not, They will only give PS3 a bad reputation, and those xkotax fanboys will laugh their ass out.

I've updated mine, so far no problems, maybe it affects older PS3 consoles like the 60GB and 80GB versions.

Mine is 80Gb version. No problem too. But the problem does not occur during or direclty after update. We're still not safe actually.

My advice is everyone who already updated their PS3, just don't use it too much right now, or to be safe, don't use it until a new update is provided.

No need to downgrade, I'm sure Sony will release version 2.41 very soon. It could be a dummy update file as 2.41 but with 2.36 data. Or a new fixed 2.40 as 2.41.

Just be patience.
