After some research on the internet, finally installed Garmin XT into my phone. Im quite impressed with the map being able to show detailed info like petrol station, fast food shops, 7-eleven, hospital/clinic but I think Nokia map did offer something like that too, although not sure about the details.

I have to say Nokia Map is a bit more updated in being to show the road my house is located on while on Garmin, my house shouldnt existed because there is no road into my house. Hahahaha. BTW, I think Garmin really put a lot of effort into the map because I did see the updated name for streets in Jinjang area which werent shown in Nokia Map.

is your Garmin XT loaded with the latest Malsingmaps MAP??? if its not, try that map and tell me which is more up to date. To me, malsingmaps is the best n most up to date for MY and SG.  thumbup.gif
*
You mean the gold version malsing map isnt it?
Not only my house werent shown in the Garmin map (using gold version map gmasupp.img), even my office werent shown in Garmin map.

if can dont update ur nokia map
u not able to use other map once u update it
i saw this info somewhere else. smile.gif

The road I live on is missing and so does the road that I work in.
Strangely the map did include the traffic light which led into Wangsa Permai which was being erected not too long ago but not my house I stay on for 20 years nor the office that has been erected for 8 years. However, you can say the same thing about Nokia. Some road they are too lazy to draw and even merge the inner and outer lane which do not lead to the same place.

It's a little bit complicated since it involved getting a certificate & signing your game... sadly though not all games are fully 'activated'....

I don't think I can explain the method in this forum but you can google yourself for these keywords 'jasonmy99+ngage'

This one aa... damn lazy to do it...
Have to send the .key file and wait for the reply.
How did you register for the login in the first place or wait the Symbian insider in ipmart forum?

Garmin is slow on the redraw because unlike Nokia Maps, its a freaking huge 40+mb file (if you got the gold version 2.30) for the maps alone compared to 13+mb for Nokia Maps.

Why you will think Garmin is better is cos it will show you landmarks for 7eleven, police station etc etc. Its also slightly better in terms that it rotate the screen according to your direction which can be useful when driving. Map wise, some area Nokia is more up to date and for some Garmin is more up to date.

If upgraded version, it wont be called N85-facelift lor. It will be a new series.

Anyway, I find that there is not much choice for games on FP2 device. Sienzzz. Only installed some of those app like Garmin, Panoman, PhoneWallet, OfficeSuite and Photofun. Feels very sien after a while.

Err..quite complicated..it's better if you do some survey your own. No nid $$ tongue.gif
I took Ori..not very cheap lar..1900. AP selling around 1600-1700, add another 200 for assurance..well worth it.
So far no problem with the phone, very satisfied..trying to get more softwares but internet is so slow...
*
I thought some forumer are selling for RM1800 or slightly less. But well, that depends on stock availability as well.
In fact, I seen somewhere (cant remember) and even SMS a guy that were selling two new N85 Zitron that he got as birthday gift. The price he wanna sell is RM1500 only but in the end, I still wanna wait till price drop till 1k or so.

You guys not getting this version?
If you buy Zitron/Avaxx, you might get the one with chinese characters. Its normal as these set support chinese by default and the keystroke really make typing in chinese very easy. I actually see one of my colleague perform the chinese writing with his C902 (with keystroke as well) and its way faster and you do not need to learn ping ying to type chinese anymore.

Anyway, I bought from Renee, got Vietnam set and flash to SG set. Its just like the one in picture. Post pic later.

I also used to buying Zitron/Avaxx only for Nokia phones, even when I buy used set. After I bought Telstra set for my wife, I begin to change my view. If AP set comes at 300-400 cheaper, I would buy AP set. Just remember to buy from good AP companies. Try the phone out when you wanna buy it. After confirm no problem, then only pay and take the phone.

It seem like N85 is a much stable platform compared to other unlucky forumers who bought 5800 or N96.

There are a few bugs in n85. Did you guys notice..if you are surfing net..etc, and suddenly you decided to slide out the keypad...it wont work! you'll need to exit the program and start again
*
Are you sure? I try many times already and it works la.
BUT if you wanna use the keypad rotate it sideway, its not gonna work. Just tilt it up to use the keypad and sideway again when wanna view.

If you are working in office, should be no problem having it in a pouch. For people like me who do sales, its quite troublesome to take it out and putting it back after each calls/sms/task. Thats why I opted for N78 and let my wife have the N85.

welcome to da club.. rclxms.gif

so far ok..but you can see noise on the phone..but when transfer to pc..the noise disappear/becomes a lot lesser..

im still using 10.045..but planning to update it tomorrow smile.gif
*
Its the other way around...
When you look at it in the phone, due to it being resized, the noise appear like a darker shade. When you transfer to pc, it become a lot of dots.

I dont think its poor though. Just need some tweaking. The Auto setting is pretty much useless indoors. If I got time, I will compare my N78 with N85 pictures.
