QUOTE(samurai1337 @ Dec 30 2008, 01:30 PM) Don't think so then if im choosing to buy a new phone? the 5800 is better or the n85? should i get the 5800?Reasons being: 1. E66 is a pretty new phone 2. E66's built quality is better than N85's 3. Though N85 has got FP2 (newer OS), the change is not significant Unless you really need the 5MP camera (that isn't too great) and the higher resolution video recording, I don't see it as a worth upgrade. My suggestion: Save your money and wait for those v9.5 touch screen devices instead |

QUOTE(Vint @ Jan 3 2009, 07:46 PM) yeah...this is something else..n85 got fm transmitter, n95 8gb got infrared (can be used to control a tv or radio with irremote) n85 gor amoled screen, n95 8gb got a bigger screen (bigger is better) Added on January 4, 2009, 2:50 am QUOTE(ITrocks @ Jan 3 2009, 08:17 PM) As in camera? yes if we compare the pic quality the n85 wins with it's vivid display..If talking about picture quality on display, the OLED screen makes the N85 much better. You can check out the mobile-review here: http://www.mobile-review.com/review/nokia-n85-en.shtml and the gsmarena review here: http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n85-review-297.php take in mind there's a few problems too with the amoled screen of n85 1. worse when viewed under sunlight...can't see it clearly..worst than most normal lcd phones... 2. oled screens have a much lower lifetime than normal lcd...something like a quarter or so of normal lcd lifetime... i know that some companies already make longer lasting oled but im not sure if nokia used it in n85. 3. if we are viewing movies with dark scenes, it's hard to see the details clearly... Added on January 4, 2009, 2:53 am QUOTE(sakpn2000 @ Jan 3 2009, 08:53 PM) my friends juz bought n85 last mth. his keypad got some jawi writing. to be honest, we don't know that the sets from middle east is made in finland. i could also be made in china..whn he asked the seller to giv him others without the jawi letters, seller told him the sets fr middle east is 'better' than the 1 with chinese ping yin which comes fr china.... how true is this or totally untrue? quality wise i think ur friend shouldn't worry, but the seller say like that because he doesn't want your friend to complain to him.. ur friend should ask for an n85 that has NO jawi/chinese etc... QUOTE(ITrocks @ Jan 3 2009, 07:42 PM) Yea i'm also contemplating the 5800 over this. Not sure why..the touchscreen is nice, and the cheaper price.. but pay 300 more for 5mp and fm transmitter. I dunno.. dont need to contemplate anymore...either get the n85 or n95 8gb.. the 5800 has a few hardware problems up it's sleeves..smashpop reported that his 5800 has a vertical line that wont go away on his lcd a lot of people in malaysia and all around the world are reporting that the ear speakerphone is going soft when talking on the phone..very hard to hear. the problem is the speaker is either not connecting properly or not attached like it should other forums also report the lcd going dim when it shouldn't.. i think an n85 or n95 8gb is more durable and would last longer because it's not a touchscreen phone n85 and n95 8gb has 5mp camera..i need that.. camera wise both are similar and comparable...no need to worry.. both very nice though i can say that the n95 8gb is a bit better because of the numerous firmware updates.. Added on January 4, 2009, 12:57 pm QUOTE(Vint @ Jan 4 2009, 11:56 AM) unless the speaker prob and the vertical line prob in 5800 got solved,if not i think i'll go for n85/n95 8gb.. the 5800 speaker prob is really annoying and heartbreaking cause it happens within a few days or weeks of buying the phone.yeaa im considering about the oled lifespan also but so far there's no one complaining bout it yet..as long as it can last up to 3-4 years then i guess it shouldn't be a big prob i dont want a phone that break down when it's still new...wtf. QUOTE(ivanlmh @ Jan 4 2009, 01:44 PM) Please check your facts...i dont think n95 does not have a bigger screen..in fact, they have the same resolution? which is 320x240 please check your facts mr ivan.. i said a BIGGER SCREEN. n95 8gb has 2.8inch lcd and n85 has 2.6inch...duhh..check dictionary for "bigger" and "screen" and "resolution"Anyway, i agree n95 8gb is a better phone then n85..that's why it is more expensive I DID NOT say it has a higher resolution. 2.8 and 2.6 is small on paper but if you see it for yourself the difference is noticable. the n85 costs a bit more than n95 8gb because n85 is a newer phone. please check the prices and dont just say n95 8gb costs more ..it seems that u r the one that needs to check your facts bcause none of it is right.. Added on January 4, 2009, 4:58 pm QUOTE(aruja_69 @ Jan 4 2009, 03:26 PM) yup for an avaxx, its quite cheap.. u bought both 5800 and n85?? Added on January 4, 2009, 4:59 pm QUOTE(Vint @ Jan 4 2009, 03:15 PM) yup tats why the price remain stable for n95-8gb...5800 is really going cheap..thats y i suspect there might be something wrong with the hp and in fact it is..like what reported by the users.. yup, the price for n95 8gb remains about rm100 or so cheaper than n85..so now left 2 choices for me either n85/n95-8gb... alphacompany, please let me /us know ur decision ya.. i just heard that lifespan of oled's are much lower..that's all.
if it's bigger like n96 or n95 8gb then it'll be much better.. i want to ask, is the video recording and video playback smooth? i heard not as smooth as n95 because n95 got dual cpu and 3d accelerator.. |

QUOTE(wenway87 @ Jan 5 2009, 07:47 PM) i jus go have a look on n85 at the pjss2 shop n lowyat there...the price they offer me is 1545-1560...pjss2 tat shop give a price of 1560 ..warranty of 18 months n the lcd is 12 months..after that i go look for the shop beside it..price is 1545 but lcd 3 months...my fren from lowyat give me a price of 1560....all of those phones dun have any jawi or thailand word on there...is it worth to buy?!?? well...that seems quite cheap for ap price.. the price has fallen to the same price as n95 8gb.. make sure you have all included in the set including the 8gb card.plus it doesn't have jawi/chinese/thai etc keypad.. very nice Added on January 5, 2009, 8:37 pm QUOTE(craxors @ Jan 5 2009, 08:03 PM) now this guy i like..hahahaha.. that'll be good.. can buy a stereo bluetooth headsetAdded on January 5, 2009, 8:40 pm QUOTE(squall_kay @ Jan 5 2009, 08:27 PM) i'm sure yours won't if u take care of it..Added on January 5, 2009, 8:40 pm QUOTE(ivanlmh @ Jan 5 2009, 08:13 PM) great for you Added on January 5, 2009, 8:43 pm QUOTE(myren25 @ Jan 5 2009, 08:09 PM) n95 8gb can be cracked n hack to play more n-gage games as it is fp1... n install more apps as it can be hacked. n85 wins maybe in terms of slider.. though the problem is not on all n95 8gb sliders and i also read reports of n85 sliders being wobbly too.but i tell u the sliding of n95 8gb is unsatisfied if compare to n85.....n85 win it obviously... my fren just get 5800.... the secondary (in front) camera canot be view....except for video call....WTF??!!! haha...so decide urself speaker and sound loudness wise n95 8gb wins hands down. for sure. Added on January 5, 2009, 8:45 pm QUOTE(myren25 @ Jan 5 2009, 08:15 PM) one thing i not satisfied is the speaker... when u play music via loudspeaker..u will feel that it was not the a good nokia music speaker so far...i can said that it was POOR....sienzzzzzzz........ u know..the ear speaker volume going soft when talking on the phone. it's a hardware prob..not software prob. to know, try talking on the phone.Added on January 5, 2009, 8:17 pm is it?? my fren just bought it after 2 weeks i bougt my n85...today still keep touching his hp with finger (tok this tok that), show off.....@#@#!@#@! so what is the cons of 5800 huh bro???? so i can go laugh him tomolo.... some also face lcd probs.. u can laugh at him when he has those probs. yeah probably so because last week n85's price is about rm100 more than n95 8gb...but i like the look on the n95 8gb, different than my n81.
but i'm more towards n95 8gb cause n85 same design as my n81 and n95 8gb something like rm100 cheaper. 1. n85 has transmitter (can play mp3 through fm radios) and n95 8gb has infrared (can control tv n radio ) 2. n85 has 2.6" brilliant/vivid amoled screen and n95 8gb has 2.8" bigger lcd (in real life the size difference is noticeable) 3. Sound/speaker n95 8gb is much better and louder. 4. n85 got better battery life and n95 8gb has 3d accelerator and dual cpu that makes it faster 5. n85 more pocket friendly and n95 8gb camera is better so it's pretty much the same if compared in terms of features. one have this and the other have that.
