Bro, i can see that your minimum temperature for E7400 is about 38-40 Celsius. Is your pc in an aircond room?
My minimum can only get 42 Celsius.. unsure.gif

Currently i'm still maintaining 3.74Ghz for my E7400.
Maybe i'll OC higher at the end of the year..
Just dont wanna decrease the lifespan.. tongue.gif

helo.. iam new about overclocking...
i want try to overclock my e7400 2.8ghz to 3.6ghz..

wut should i do smile.gif...
*
try OC gradually..
try 3.2 Ghz first. U can do 320x10 or even lower multiplier.
After that, try run Prime95 and see the stability. If got errors, U would want to higher the CPU voltage gradually until it reaches stability.
If everything's ok, u can try to higher the speed and voltage.. wink.gif

Hi farscope, I already posted my statistic last time, well here it is again..

QUOTE(hazairi @ Jul 19 2009, 12:38 PM)
4Ghz@1.38v
Nice!!
Your max temp only 68C? wow! watercooling?

Anyway, here is my statistic of OC with my 7400 so far:

Speed (Ghz) - Volt-Temp (cel)-Temp (kel)-  Speed/Volt
3.49  1.24 65.00 338.00  2.814516129
3.56  1.27 67.00 340.00  2.803149606
3.67  1.29 70.00 343.00  2.84496124
3.72  1.32 73.00 346.00  2.818181818

It seems that the most optimum Speed per volt is at 3.67Ghz.
*
@3.72 Ghz my volt is 1.32 and the max tempreture running Prime95 is 73 celcius..

oh my bad then.. anyway, yr voltage is in cpuz or yr setting in bios?

wat FSB?
*
in cpu-z, in bios usually i set higher.. donno y in cpuz will show lower.

FSB, if more than 3.5Ghz I set the multiplier to 10.5.
My default memory speed is low, only 667Mhz, dats y have to set higher multiplier so that my RAM wont OC dat much..

tat's call Vdroop as mentioned before..

no wonder.. i was calculating wat multiplier u used for such odd clocks..

i m running at 333x10.5 @ 1.232V in cpu-z.. in fact, it is 1.27XV in bios.. rclxub.gif

tried 400 x 9 before, need 1.262V in cpuz.. and 1.31V in bios if not mistaken.. doh.gif
*
hehe, did u run prime95 to test it's stability?

i use LinX instead of prime.. faster n hotter.. never tried Prime95 thou.. as long as it pass 1 hour LinX, it is good enuf for me..

i can boot at lower voltage.. but onli can stable at the voltage i mentioned previously..

What about your tempreture?

temperature wise.. on LinX load..

max 70°C on hot days, or 65/66°C at nite..
average 66~68°C hot days, or 61~63°C at nite..
idle is at 31~33°C depending on ambient..

normal 90~100% load (not LinX stress) is about 48~50°C..
*
wow, ur idle is damn low..
Aircond room izzit?

my idle tempreture never reaches below 42 celcius even at night!
Care to explain this?

u r using hyper tx2 plus a cheap casing.. which means u have bad air flow?

Added on November 3, 2009, 9:51 pmyr graphic card is a dual slot cooler or a zalman fan type? mayb the heat from GC made yr air in the casin to be warm.. lack of ventilation..
*
allrite then, i'll install a mini aircond inside my casing.. tongue.gif

He said "....hyper tx2 plus a cheap casing....." The PMR aftermath must have gotten you all fuzzy ah bro? tongue.gif
Anyways hazairi, install another fan on that TX2... becomes twin fan  thumbup.gif
Or sell it in Garage Sale and  get a RM100+ HSF minimum.
C-Zone @ LYP got AC Freezer Extreme for RM149. I'm using it, 3.8Ghz idle 35C/39C (30C/34C before using Windows 7) in the hot noon. Max 59C.  brows.gif (not bad for aircooling HSF)
*
hehe, i'll try to install another fan to the tx2! tq!

Sad lah~~office 1 345Mhz can't boot liao no matter what settings and multiplier
344 Mhz can boot pulak ~_~

Probably is the PCIe frequency too high, this board doesn't have lock PCIe to 100Mh option

wat about the voltage?

QUOTE(JoBigShow @ Dec 15 2009, 06:37 AM)
Damn, the Speedstep™ only available if I set my vCore to Auto, so my dream of being 'green' and energy consuming at the same time would not materialize if OC over 3.5ghz (thats so far I can OC my proc under AUTO on the vCore), but still, I haven't check whats the actual maximum clockspeed I can achieved on AUTO, so this will be my new quest.
Yeah, I think OC should not just be about attaining maximum power, but has to be 'conceptually intelligent' and futuristic by balancing eco-friendliness and power.. tongue.gif
I believe this concept should be the future approach of OC'ing, and the future is not near, its now.

Anyways, Hazairi, how you OC your proc?

I got a suggestion bro, you can set your fsb to 380 and OC the ram from 667mhz to 761mhz, and set the strap to '266', therefore attaining the 1:1 ratio.
But because I don't know what voltage you are OC'ing on 3.74ghz i can't say more, because its pointless to to OC to 4ghz if you exceed the Intel's spec of 13625v on the 45nm chip...

OR if you decided that you are a satisfied with u'r CPU OC'ing, you can move to OC'ing the entire system performance, by tightening/lowering the PL (performance level)
Because I think 3.74ghz is good enough for the E7400, OC any further(to 4ghz) yield not much difference in overall system performance, but tightening the ram, or lowering the PL does so much difference in system performance bro.

good2..
thanks for the advice!

anyway my voltage is 1.34v

Since that nowadays i'm leaving my PC on 24 hours for downloading, I'm downclocking my E7400 to save letricity..
Right now DC from 2.8 to 2.5Ghz(250x10). Set the voltage to just 1.06V. Currently testing it using Prime95. The temperature was so impressive.. So far maximum only 51C.

Successfully DC'ed my E7400 to 2.5Ghz (250x10) with voltage of 1.06V. Passed 1 hour of Prime95 with max temp only 51C!
Will try to lower the voltage more..

how bout DC it at 2.8Ghz?

anyway, i tried running at default and no longer power down.. so it's cause by OC.. problem solved.. notworthy.gif

I wanna reach the lowest voltage possible.
Here's results with 1.04V:

rclxms.gif  Everybody is going green  thumbup.gif
There's should be a thread for 'UnderClockers Unitedthumbup.gif

Hazairi, do you use Intel's Speedstep™ ? and the C1E?
If I'm on '24hours downloading-mode' I just set the proc to default (2.8ghz) and when 'Idle' the  PC will "underclocked" to  1.6ghz (266 X 6) @ 1.027v, and I enabled the ASUS EPU-6 (setting to 'power saving')
while I'm at it.
*
Yeah, if u ON the features, ASUS can save the power when it's idle.
But I prefer to do it manually and off the settings.. Just for experiment.. hehe

sth wrong with my PC yday.. i did not change any settings but suddenly my pc show artifacts during game and goes blank after tat.. like no video signal..

then i force restart it and it take some time to boot.. the mobo restarted a few times before able to proceed to POST.. then after running GPU stress test and CPU stress test, everything seems normal.. but i do notice that the CPU voltage fluctuates alot when idle.. usually it will idle at 1.16V.. but yday it kept fluctuate between 1.07~1.17V.. but stable during stress..

this morning when i turn on the PC.. everything seems normal until the user screen and it suddenlt BSOD and restart a few time before able to go to POST.. i go into BIOS to check settings and it says the PC failed to boot due to OC or voltage changes..

now i m running at default while seeking solution.. how ah? rclxub.gif

Have u tried setting the BIOS to default settings?
