I was wondering the same, would the phone automatically download stuff via 3G? I just finish charging my phone today, set everything up. After a while, i saw an "Earth" logo at the top. It seems that its connecting to something and i am worried that it might automatically connects via 3G and cost alot. LOL..
Should i disable anything? Besides, is there a need for any antivirus? I am new to WM and PDA phone. Is it neccessary? |

QUOTE(Baronic @ Aug 25 2008, 11:55 AM) antivirus not necessary. but an antivirus on your PC is. especially if you connect your diamond as a thumbdrive to your PC. in which case anything that can infect the thumbdrive will transfer to your diamond. it will probably not affect the diamond, but will probably affect the next PC you connect your diamond to. Thanks Baronic.Weather is RM1 per update. I have no problems of getting charged regarding data services. @dogdog, i said when u are connected the tower symbol at your SIGNAL STRENGTH will change to 3G icon. chester take a screenshot of this "earth" icon for me. Your phone will connect to data services (when not connected to wifi or other net services) when you 1) SURF 2) RECEIVE A MMS, in which case the phone will automatically try to retrieve 3) AUTO UPDATE/UPDATE weather 4) have some RSS FEED i hope that clears it up for you all Well, i could not take it right now as the icon is not there. It will come out randomly which prompts me to feel that its connection via 3G automatically. Nice to hear that AntiVirus is not neccessary. In that case, i would skip that for while. 1. In your option there, is it able to disable the Auto Update weather so that it would not randomly connect via 3G? 2. My memory is stable at 50% without any program at the background. Is that normal? 3. Besides, i have read from the thread here and realise some of you have problem when connecting the phone via WiFi but data transfer still using 3G connection. Is it still an issue or is there any setting that can disable this? Sorry for all the question. New here in PDA phone. @evilpuppy, Thanks alot for all the help there. Will try it out and see. ------------- 1 more question, How do i install all those application into my Touch Diamond? Just put the EXE into the phone? Into which folder?THanks.. I tried install some applications today and finally knows how to do it
For GPS, i just got Mapking 2007 installed but i am wondering, where can i get the maps for it? For Malaysia. For the Nodata, i got it installed and disabled all the options there (include Maxis MMS, Maxis Internet, Maxis GPRS). So, does this mean that i would not have data connection from 3G? 1 more thing, for the Weather Update, does it cost any money? Can we download the update via Wifi instead of 3G? Is it possible for the Contacts section to only display contact from phone only? Its now displaying 2 contact from phone and SIM together. QUOTE(evilpuppy @ Aug 27 2008, 12:47 PM) akachester, Thanks alot. Will be looking to get the maps soon. get your mapking map from Malsingmaps.com. yes, disabling all will temporary stop you from connecting to internet and also any incoming MMS wont be receive. SMS ok. like baronic said, per updated cost around 1RM. and yes you still can upated your weather forecast from your PC while you connected to your desktop pc. if you have Advance Configurations Tools V3.0 Tools then use it to hide your sim contacts. But the RM1 is for 1 location or for all? QUOTE(moorish @ Aug 27 2008, 01:32 PM) I installed mapking from action yesterday and have absolutely no idea how it works, looks very unuser frenly Well, i installed it as well and not really used to it. Dont understand how it works as well. LOL..Now looking for something that is easier. QUOTE(wkho555 @ Aug 27 2008, 02:13 PM) Just copy the cab file into the phone, search the cab file and click on it. It will automatically install |

I think if you have MMS enabled, then you will be able to receive MMS. Anyway, i just put all into enabled and i saw there is actually a 3G logo at the Anthenna icon. Now, i have 2 3G logo (one is the big 3G logo indicating the connection i am having, and another is the anthenna logo with 3G).
Clicked on it and saw that its actually connecting via Maxis 3G Internet and its already 12minutes. I still dont know which program is actually connecting via the Maxis 3G automatically. So, i think its safer for me to keep everything on NoData disabled |

So in order to receive those MMS, GRPS settings, we need to call Maxis? This is because i couldnt find the settings via their website though. Tried video call just now, line can be established but could not receive the video of the opponent.

The one thing that is most difficult for me switching from a normal phone to this was the touch screen, especially during SMSing. Its really hard to get the correct word you are trying to spell. LOL..

QUOTE(MangKoK^ayon @ Aug 28 2008, 10:14 AM) Yea, using that right now but still, the feeling is very different Somehow, it seems pressing the touch screen is a bit more laggy compared to conventional keypad But i am trying to get used to it. Besides, installed the TouchFlo 3D config tool just now, saw an option there stating TouchFlo 3D Performance #1, #2, #3, #4. Do they really work in making the phone faster? I tried activating it just now but it seems its slower than before |

Just wondering here guys, the memory leak issue is not solve yet?
I practically need to restart the Diamond every single day due to this (unless there is something running at the background though). At the end of the day, its almost at around 67% usage even without anything running. |

Is it risky to do so (flashing to unofficial rom)?
How effective it is against memory leak? If its good, i am interested. Besides, it effect the warranty of the phone? |

Hi guys,
I have a problem here. Installed MapKing 2007 and loaded some maps in it. The problem is, i cant seem to get the GPS working. When i click the GPS icon on MapKing, it will show some connectivity screen but at the end, a screen will pop up saying "Cant get GPS position" or something like that. Then it will ask me to switch to Navigation Mode. Whats the problem? |

Alright, went out for a trip to Penang last week and my MapKing GPS doesnt seem to work either. Whether is outdoor or indoor. Is there any better GPS software out there to test out GPS?
Anyway, i am wondering, it seems that the USB port for the Diamond is slightly different from the others. Can we use the "normal" mini USB on the Diamond? This post has been edited by akachester: Sep 26 2008, 06:18 PM |

I got the car charger and realised that its the 5pin USB as well. So i thought we are able to sync using the normal mini USB. |
