your calendar thing is a known issue. check XDA. Hard-spl bypases spl check when u try to flash a cooked rom or a rom from overseas. without hard-spl, flashing such roms may spoil your device. u can read up on the how tos in XDA forum, or if you're lazy, feel free to PM me, i offer the service too.

java games = wont work, u dun have a T9 hardware keypad. so dont bother.

Well, after a few tries, i finally understand why i could copy those JAR programs into my phone. The name is TOO LONG. LOL..

For some reason, if the name is too long, it just wont be transfered into the phone. Renaming it into a shorter form will allow it to be transfered into it. Tried installing a few games that was said to be working on the TD. None loaded successfully. Gave up on that. Just thinking whether there is any good games recommended on the TD so that i can play them when i have some free time tongue.gif

I went to Lowyat Plaza to get a HTC earphone. FM with RDS works like charm with good sound quality. I thought my 838 pro headset does not have antenna lead connection. I came back home happily. CRAP! No reception in Puchong! TD FM radio reception sucks man! Wasted my money buying original HTC earphone.
SPL is a mechanism that loads your operating system, just like how we have BIOS in our computer. With the original SPL, your phone cannot be programmed with another OS ROM in the recovery mode (in case of flashing failure). With HardSPL, the phone can be flashed in tricolour boot mode. Hence, making flashing slightly fail proof.

Radio ROM is the firmware for GSM/WCDMA chipset. It controls every parameter of your PDA's radio including power and frequency. If you experience poor signal quality with the PDA, a new radio ROM may help, but it's not necessary the newest radio ROM that helps. Sometimes downgrade is necessary. Please flash radio ROM cautiously because in case of any failure, even the most godlike HardSPL won't help. It will make your Diamond a phoneless PDA. No one reported JTAG connection for diamond yet, so it may be very very difficult to recover.
Do you have Jblend? Install your Java application through that supplied software.
*
Thanks for the tips given. Now i realise whats the difference. So, in that case, we need to perform a HARD SPL before we could install "third party ROM"? I believe its called Cooked ROM or something similar right?

I have Jblend installed onto my phone.

Well, I'm very used to flash all kinds of devices including laptop BIOS which is much more deadly. Haha..

I realise that no one complained about the poor FM reception except me. No one listens to FM anymore? laugh.gif
*
Tried that yesterday. Its extremely poor for me. I personally owned a few handphone with FM radio capability before and the TD does came in last. Even in an open area, the reception is still bad. LOL....

I personally flash BIOS for my PCs as well but definitely do not dare doing it on the TD or my PSP tongue.gif Rather leave it to the experts. tongue.gif

cuz im used to typing on a normal keypad phone .. but hows the sms on the diamond? it's also T9?

as in the screen won't appear a keyboard but the 1-9 button?
*
Well, there is alot of options for TD in this case. There is a Full QWERTY keyboard, a compact QWERTY (which is basically 2 characters at one button), a normal phone keypad (similar to handphone) etc. You can choose which one you are more familiar with though. smile.gif

However, trust me if you had not switched to touch screen before, its going to be a tough experience for hardcore SMS user. Its VERY hard to adapt as you will constantly click on the wrong button tongue.gif I have that same problem before when i changed to TD and took me forever to get a SMS out. LOL...

After a few months, i got used to it already. Now, i am using the Full QWERTY with ease tongue.gif

btw, the memory leak, really that bad?

QUOTE(mengsuan @ Nov 13 2008, 12:20 PM)
Texting while driving isn't possible even with my old PDA with physical QWERTY keyboard. At least with the compact QWERTY virtual keyboard in diamond, texting can be done slowly.
Almost every HTC PDA that I've seen suffer from memory leak. Although old models have no touchflo, memory is greatly lost after surfing the internet. With 50MB free RAM that diamond gives me after a boot, I feel free to open any programs without worrying about memory leak.
Battery life; haha, really kinda short. Shorter than my old PDA.
*
Not too sure about you guys but yesterday, i hit the max memory leak issues i am having. Not sure about the last time i hard reset my phone but yesterday, without any program running at the background, the memory stays at 75%. Now tell me that aint serious. LOL....

Extended battery wise, its in my plan but have yet to make a move. Maybe its still too expensive for me to afford tongue.gif

I dont really install alot program inside. Probably 2 or 3 which i dont even launch them after install. I just use it like a normal phone (calls, sms etc) but still, the problem persist. rclxub.gif

Did you do any HKEY changes??? It may affect you know, even though it may seem as if you didn't install anything detrimental... wink.gif

akachester, the memory leak issue 75% is normal la....for Official rom for TD. i hit 82 before. its memory leak. nothing to do with programs.

switch off TF3D and use pda like normal no problems d. the memory leak is somehow from TF3D itself
*
Nope, no changes done to any HKEY etc. Just basic installation. Well, looking at Baronics reply, somehow it makes me wanted to flash to Cooked ROM faster. LOL...82%? Thats crazy. How do i switch off TF3D anyway?

Finally got my TD HardSPL and flash to Cooked ROM today by Baronic. Memory leak issues are less but still there. However, it does seem a lil bit better than the original ROM.

Alot more customization in this version. Thanks alot to Baronic for all the tips today tongue.gif

Anyway, anyone care to let me know whats the name of the program that was suppose to stop 3G connection? I had that program last time to prevent the problem of TD connecting via 3G to download stuff but kinda forgot the name though.

Is PDA nice to game with? I only play teeter and battleship on my PDA. Lol.. I'm more interested with getting online through PDA.

One big piece of advice : Never ever take a look at Baronic's TD. LOL..Got into a trap when i touch and play Baronic's TD. So many games there and everything is so fun. LOL...Gonna put more games into my TD since then as well tongue.gif I am truly surprise at how well TD handle games that might have been designed for PCs.

I am having so much trouble with the TD. LOL...I always accidentally pick up or reject calls when someone called and my phone is in the pocket. Is there a way to only answer call using the keys instead of the touch screen?

Anyone use the YouTube Client in TD recently? I keep on getting error msg "No Video" when da phone is connected to the internet via ActiveSync or Wifi.

Need help.

I have this problem as well at certain times. Probably when my internet connection is slow. But when i restart my modem (connection via WiFi), it will load without any problem.

That's the whole point ma... To disable your onscreen answer key which is bloody sensitive... laugh.gif So you won't answer calls by accident... thumbup.gif

LOL..But just faced another problem today. When you are answering a call and another guy call you, you wont be able to mute, accept or reject the call. Not sure pressing the hard keys work or not though as when i was about to try, the dude hang off.

Anyone experience problem with their TD when the battery is low? Today is the first time (since i HardSPL and flash it firmware) for the phone to reach a level where there is a ! at the battery meter, indicating battery is extremely low. At that point, the phone litterally hang, or almost impossible to use. Not even restarting it helps.

The PDA just shutdown gracefully so far, even with compatible batteries. I tend to use them till the last bit.

Well, last time, it just shutdown without a problem. However, today was first time i had this problem which i am worried it might be due to the new firmware. Its just almost impossible to use the phone at that point even though there is still minor battery life left. rclxub.gif
