Hi,

Good thread especially for womens.

I have 2 questions...

1)Is DNC is recomended after miscarriage?? Because I didn't do it since the doctor said no need for it, since it came out fully. But a few of my friends said otherwise.

2)My next question is, Is there anyone here that has sufferd 2 miscarriages in a row in early stage of precnancy  cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif  and have gone on to have sucsesfull pregnancy? Hope you can share your tips or experience...

Thanks wink.gif

I'm sure it's a good thread for even the male gender since having a baby involved both genders! smile.gif

In regards to your questions.

1. D&C done after miscarriage is common, but you have to understand that there are many types of miscarriages. Those incomplete miscarriages required D&C to be done because there's still parts of the fetus inside. When your doctor says it came out fully, I believe he meant you had a "complete" miscarriage meaning there's no need of a D&C. That's actually a good thing because as mentioned above, there's plenty of complications after D&C. So the conclusion is, D&C after miscarriages depends on types of miscarriage, and in your case, you had a complete miscarriage and you DO NOT NEED D&C smile.gif

2. There are many reasons for having miscarriages. Please discuss with your doctor to rule out the different possible causes as your doctor will investigate and try to treat the treatable causes. Expert opinion lies in the expert, which is your specialist. If you're looking for more info, you can always find people who'll help you out in this thread smile.gif

ps: Cervical incompetence, syphilis, abnormal uterus etc are a few common causes smile.gif

The injections that they are talking about is progestogens. It does not make the uterus stronger, it just ensures that the endometrial lining is healthy enough and remains that way to support pregnancy.

Its a harmless injection. It is actually a hormone that your body produces. The theory behind it is that the corpus luteum is unable to secrete enough progesterone to maintain the pregnancy leading to a miscarriage. So, they feel that by supplementing progestogens, which is a synthetic progesterone, you circumvent this.

There are no serious side effects to your baby or you and there is no increase in the risk of down syndrome.

A good enough explanation here. Whatever it is, you have to confirm with your doctor which exact medication he'll be giving you and let him explain what it is for. If he doesnt, remember to ask!

Regarding your first paragraph on D&C causing better fertility rate, hmmm.. I wont agree with that simply because it's not needed in your case! smile.gif

at first, she'll have contraction pains, which will get more frequent & intense..
imagine that you have a stomachache, went to toilet, but nothing comes out, & stomach still hurts.. something like that.. tongue.gif
during the delivery of the head, the vagina will feel painful, coz it;s being streeeeetched really badly..
but the delivery of the head is usually a very swift process..

of coz, the husband's hand will feel pain when kena genggam by the wife.. tongue.gif
don't forget that their wallets will hurt for the next 20-25 years.. tongue.gif
& sakit telinga, sakit tekak, sakit hati..

but anyway, childbirth is a very wonderful thing..  blush.gif
*
Wow, you're describing labour pains! Something that people never were able to describe! will keep in my the stomachache and toilet part! But I believe it's much much worst! tongue.gif

All your pain points are absolutely right! Experienced huh? hahahaha

Yeah, actually, once the head is out, then it's all clear.

But for my oldest, she actually came out feet first (breach? that's the term, right?), hence my post on the shoulder being ouchies.

Can you just imagine, babies' heads aren't even fully formed yet -- as in, their skull is not even a whole "round" piece, so as to accommodate their birth...
*
Yup, you're absolutely right! They skull undergo a process called MOULDING which eases the delivery by adapting the the birth canal! smile.gif

Ooo.. you had a BREECH delivery? Very cool.. didnt they try to turn the baby while she's still inside?

So how many children do you have? Interesting experience you're sharing with us! smile.gif

I dunno about "cool", but yes, my oldest (girl, will be 5 this october), came out feet first. I went into labour about 5 weeks earlier than the due date, so I wasn't expecting it or anything. One day, got home from work, lie down, and suddenly my water broke. Very the drama. I guess the fact that I didn't what the heck to do (despite watching tonnes of CDs, reading books about childbirth etc) and the fact that I was very much panicked, I literally just followed the flow.

My 2nd child will be 1 this Saturday (21st Feb). His delivery was a bit easier, in terms of I know what to expect and do, that is! biggrin.gif

Both deliveries with no epidural or whatnot. I think the doctor gave me a shot of some muscle relaxant (or something, I'm not sure, my hubby knows the name of the shot).
*
First and foremost, the "BudakJahat" nick sounds very misleading, LOL!

Anyway, I actually thought they should have discovered you had a breech much earlier based on USG and should have planned your delivery well. In the end, it still came out so not a problem la! smile.gif

Congratulations! Good to hear you're expecting your child this saturday! Do tell us more stories k?

Btw, which hosp do you go to? Private? Government? KL?

I think you got my message wrong... My 2nd child will be 1 this Saturday. I already gave birth to him last year.  wink.gif

Both kids were born at a private hospital. I think the first child was more of a surprise, cos the last ultrasound I had, the doctor mentioned she was sideways. But since my due date was about a month +- away, and the fact that the baby was very active in utero, then they thought she'd move to the right position when the time comes -- who knew 'the time' was actually very near.
*
Woops, I surely got that wrong! tongue.gif

Anyway, it's true what they said. Babies tend to move towards the end of pregnancy, and usually after 37 weeks if they're still stuck there, then they'll attempt to turn the guy/girl around. Anyway, yours came early so no choice. Surprise they didnt op for C-section! Any reasons?

Throughout the whole pregnancy... we're all waiting for the head to come out first. Even in the first stage of labour, it's all about the head coming out.

True that the shoulder MIGHT be difficult, but most of the time, once the head is out, all is good! smile.gif

shakehead.gif haiya.. rollback..

anyways, thanks for the clarification aerikh.

so that means when some moms was "in labour" for a long time, they're most probably in the first stage lah. ok...

anyways, prior to giving birth to my 2nd child, for about 2 weeks or so, i had braxton-hicks contraction. damn uncomfortable. on top of the leg cramps, heart burn etc...
*
Fuyo, braxton-hicks contraction! Not bad.. complicated words coming out. Maybe we should get aerikh to explain! smile.gif

BH contraction is just a fancy term for false contraction.. heheh..

Here's a bit about Braxton-Hicks Contraction...
"But unlike true labor, this so-called false labor doesn't cause significant, progressive dilation of your cervix, and the contractions don't grow consistently longer, stronger, and closer together."

Wow, so did your doctor teach you that? Not bad... did it really hurt? Can describe it in comparison to your true labour pains? smile.gif

What's that suppose to mean? 2 placenta? One part stuck? OR 2 seperate occasion? Human? Dog? Cat?

Hi,

Wanna ask about prenancy test kit..

I read the manual (Bought the ClearBlue brand), it says dip into the collected urine and the "|" will appear in the control window. Then wait for 2 mins before viewing result. But when my wife did the test, dip it into, but the result window has result already shown + before the control window show "|". Faulty test or pregnant liao? The manual say will see "|" first in control window before + is shown 2 minutes later.
*
Faulty kit, you can take it back to the pharmacy and demand for a new one. OR, just buy a new one. It's pregnancy, you dont want to be in doubt because of a faulty kit! smile.gif

2 separate occasions... im a student, supposed to pull out the baby as well but the doc wont let me, so i only got to pull out the placenta.. wasn't much fun though..
*
That's probably cause the baby is alive and the placenta is not, so that's why the doctor decided it that way! tongue.gif

But then again, snap the cord and you'll give them a big headache.. so well done! smile.gif

yeah, managed to get through O&G..
hmm.. depends lah, was posted to the labour room with 3-4 colleagues for a month, 7am-5pm, delivered about 2-5 babies per day.. coz my hospital has this practice of allowing midwives & nurses delivering the babies of mothers from the general ward (uncomplicated cases), whereas 2nd & 1st class mothers must be attended by a doctor..

otherwise, just on call 1-2 times per month in the labour room at night.. deliveries can range from 2-10.. tongue.gif
total deliveries during my 4 months: 40-50? can't really recall.. tongue.gif
yeah, quite busy, vaginal delivery rate is about 100 per week, i think..

Hey nice sharing smile.gif Glad everything went smooth in the end. How's our little baby doing?

Well, they had to make you pee because the bladder will get in the way of the delivery if it's not empty. Like an obstruction. Anyway, your pain should be gone by now. Probably the wound didnt heal that well.. speak to your gynae about it, and see what he/she says. It really shouldnt persist

3rd son = forcep (7 years old)
4th son = baru normal labour (2.5 years old)

Wow, great that your wife managed 3 vaginal deliries after the first caeserean.. usually the scar would be the weak point, and 2 normal births are advocated only. Wish you well smile.gif

I was recommended for Cocoa for my cracked heels, although i dont find it useful for my needs but indeed it is the most moist products.  There are other brands from maternity co's to your needs but i don think it is necessary cos i was too lazy to apply of them and yet i dont find any marks left on my tummy.  After birth I have been using Amway slimming sets of cream, and that might be helpful if u do have some marks left on you.
*
Wow, no scars on your tummy is goood! smile.gif how much do those slimming sets cost?

Btw, so far 1 child?
