Well actually if profits for the following quarters deteriorate and Maybank has to reduce dividends, the dividend yield will be corrected to around 4% again.

Yup especially when monthly inflation rates are at all time low. BNM will likely introduce rate cut

To be honest, me too.

I buy Maybank for income, big capital appreciation is bonus. It is not an exciting stock, but it's stable decently managed business and at below RM9, attractive proposition.

Average annual dividend last 5 years = 55 sen. Payout ratio is 70+%. So yes. I prefer Maybank to MReits atm (Reits hv generally gone up).

Can dividend fall? Of course possible. Big drop? I'm hoping not. Maybank performance is closely tied to the Malaysian n Asean economy performance. Are we going downhill further.. Maybe or maybe not. That's why it's good to stay diversified.

N like all big corporations Maybank will have room to do big costs cuts if things really go south.

Btw if Maybank profits drop significantly, those PNB fixed funds will suffer more than me...

Yup. Maybank is for dividend play.. lucky Maybank not only operation in Malaysia, but others Asian countries too... So country risk is spread... But if economy get hit overall. Then no escape... Everything get hit bad...

As for PNB funds.. well now we can feel the effect already.. dividend keep going south...

And that is still with 55 Sen average dividends by Maybank.. 😆

ASB alone has 24% in Maybank.

I wouldn't mind to save up my bullets first though. After all there is no rush. I already have a good amount of recurring dividend income from my current portfolio. Now I can afford to buy some time while waiting for market weakness. There are already signs of market weakness, just need some idiot to burst it.

Depends on your own appetite. If you feel that you are satisfied with the current yield, then masuklah.
You can collect bit by bit, don't too rush. Now buy a bit and look at the situation before buying a bit some more.
With the current situation, the price won't go anywhere far for the mean time.

How do u suggest to do batch by batch? Price triggers? or periodic? (weekly, monthly, quarterly?).

We can do a Ramjade experiment here.. 😆

If the price doesn't drop to those lower level, then u lose out by waiting out. Your money will just be in trust account earning peanuts. If the investment objective is to earn higher passive income then the objective is defeated.

For me, if I like the stock and like the price, I buy. I like the stock but don't like the price, I stay out.

It's just my opinion...
While waiting.. look around others stock... Play around... Don't needed to let the $$ laying around... If u get better stock.. then just skip Maybank... No force to buy Maybank only right 👍
