Tan Sri Kok Onn has purchased an additional 667,000 shares or 0.1% stake in Green Packet Bhd from the open market on Sept 17 and 18, a filing to Bursa Malaysia revealed today.

The purchase increased his total direct and deemed holdings to 141.67 million shares or 20.66% stake.

Green Packet closed unchanged at 35.5 sen today, with a market capitalisation of RM243.4 million.

In terms of the current environment, what's with the emergence of more prominent ISPs (i.e. TM, Maxis, YES, UMobile), how would GPacket fare?

GPacket is very quiet in coming up with new products, new coverage area, and in promotions to recoup market capitalization.

Any thoughts on the survival of GPacket ?

To be honest, I'm not sure how they'll monetize IoT.

I worked for years on its precursor. Main problem is battery life. As long as they can't solve it, I doubt it'll take off in a very big way.

Just like those smart watches that need to be charged every couple of days. How many people want to persist with a device like that?

I think they may get a few million govt. funding for a couple of years, but beyond that, I think it's hazy.

Well it's take time because it's new technology..
Government funding is big survivor to the company (if managed to get)...

guys have to look at their nett profit before tax to revenue....
