Anyhow I've never been bitten by mealies before. So my conclusion is they don bite. I more scared crickets cuz their leg got sharp ridges. Can hurt if it saws your finger.

        Um my Ren, a long hair Syrian hamster, tend to sleepy alot nowadays...actually this happens since a few months ago and his weight is not stable too...sometimes he looks chubby and a week later he became skinny...

for your information i got Ren 2 years ago, he's really nice n friendly, really love his companion but recently i think he's become more solitary than before, and always SLEEPs...is this a sign of ageing, or sickness? Syrian Hamsters can live about 3-4 years only rite?

and Ren have dandruffs too, a few weeks ago alot but now less coz i monitor her food and behavior.He also have this dark patch on his skin...black patch which he has since i bought him but its not visible due to his long fur...is this skin disease?

On average the Syrian Hamster can live 2 to 2.5 years, there are exceptions ‎to this with some living longer and others shorter lives

Anyway it is not suitable for full size adult syrian as in the long term use will have bad side effects on their backs and neck.

Better off with a wodent wheel junior or sanko 21cm wheel for syrians. Or use it for dwarf hamsters only.

yeah! i just got myself a cute sable banded syrian. hopefully not another mouse look syrian. wahahhaha.... i didnt intend to get a syrian from the shop. i just drop by after buffet dinner, then i saw her. so adorable and the cutest hamster in whole of melaka. kaka... so i straight grab her. =.=

Then I suggest you work on the bravest. When the other hamsters see that the brave hamster is nt getting hurt, they also will become brave. Put some ood in the centre of your hand and leave your hand in the tank. make them climb on only can get the food. After a while they will know hand = not dangerous = got many things to eat. Then they will all scramble for your hand. hehe...

@Neshie: Wat you feed your mealies? Look so fat!! I also hide hide my mealies. I put it next to my fish tank so my mum and dad don't notice. My mum thinks worms are dirty and my dad don't like me to feed live food to my pets.

i'm studying in uni la...so i meant was i can put my books inside (after cleaning) and take the container wit me home la...hehehe....good idea.....i haf an OVO pad....and i dun wish to get another... T.T bankrupt.....i will get tat container like urs instead and made it into a cage........hehhee

yeah if i dun fill it with books i will haf less space to put my stuff....if u get wat i mean....hehehe

yeahhh.....like i using now chipsi classic.....sometimes stinks ohhhh....becos of the pee i duno la.....after tat okay d.....tats why i kenot put inside my room....cos i am staying in hostel....and everybody noes how big hostel room is la rite? .....so when i come bak from class smells like my own toilet (w/o flushing)
