So what could we expect for this company? More reduced profits, Increased competition, higher jet fuel cost?

QUOTE(bizklguy @ Aug 23 2013, 05:00 PM) the reduced profit was mainly due to currency loss and tax.. overall AA is a world-class company, with clear vision and super efficient operating model, still growing double-digit in passenger volume, has big expansion plan etc etc.. I think it is Thanks for answering my doubt. We shall wait & see the future prospect & financial results this company could offer |

AirAsia India eyes Bhopal, Indore as hub
AirAsia India, set to take to the skies by year-end, is eyeing either Bhopal or Indore in Madhya Pradesh to set up a hub. The state’s name, literally means "central province," amid its location in the "geographic heart" of the country can serve as a perfect location for the airline to spread its wings in the country of 1.2 billion people. Local media reported that its chief executive officer, Mittu Chandilya, met Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, yesterday to discuss the modalities to establish a hub in one of the two cities. Besides strategic location, the move would also boost the state’s tourism potential by providing air connectivity to passengers from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea and Australia, the report quoted an official source as saying. AirAsia Group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes in his recent visit to India had announced that there was potential to have many bases in India. "We can have many bases, we can be in Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Cochin (Kerala) and in Bangalore (Karnataka) but our headquarters will be in Chennai," he had said. AirAsia India is a 49:30:21 per cent joint venture between AirAsia, Tata Group and Telestra Tradeplace Pvt Ltd. |

Affin maintains "Buy" rating on AirAsia, lower TP
Affin Research has maintained its “Buy” call on AirAsia with a lowered target price of RM3.60 given its earnings downgrade. “We continue to like AirAsia’s sound fundamentals, which is backed by its strong operating statistics, as well as the group’s regional growth strategy,” it said in a note on Friday. Affin said on average, fuel accounts for about 40- 50% of AirAsia’s operating cost. “We gather that AirAsia has hedged 30% of its financial year 2013 fuel requirement at US$123 per barrel, leaving the remaining 70% at spot price,” it said. Affin noted fares are most often compromised in order to sustain a high load factor and maintain market share in the face of softer economic growth as well as stiff competition. “AirAsia’s yields positively correlates to its average fare. In first half 2013, the average fare was RM170, below our financial year 2013 assumption of RM180. “In view of the recent downward revision in 2013 gross domestic product growth forecast, we lowered our average fare assumption by 3% to between RM175 to RM180 for financial year 2013 to 2015, from RM180 to RM185,” it said. |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Sep 6 2013, 04:49 PM) cimb last week also recommend it as a strong buy. Good for you been watching it since and see it as a good trading stock at this time with high vol and volatility. just q-ed at 2.50, think dapat! see wat happens next week. I'm also watching it's movement. I'm thinking want to add more, but still unsure. Even with the current price, I still profit because my cost is below rm1.50 |

AirAsia India may miss its December launch target
AirAsia India may have to defer the launch of its domestic operations to early 2014 as the process for the issue of an operating permit can take three months. Previously, there was no such time line for completion of the process. Separately, the regulator has drawn up a time line of tasks to be completed within the 90 days and that includes document evaluation, inspection and five review meetings with the applicant. Sources said the procedures have been documented and time line laid down following US- Federal Aviation Administration's audit observations. November-December is a peak season for travel as it coincides with Diwali and Christmas holidays. Passenger loads in the two months are strong and allows airlines to charge higher fares. Thus ideally AirAsia would like to start its service in December as passenger drops in February-March. AirAsia will have to file a schedule to start services once it receives the permit. Aviation industry experts say the airline needs to do more than just offering low fares if it has to compete against the likes of IndiGo or SpiceJet. AirAsia has said it will focus on South India and not fly the Mumbai-Delhi route but critics say there aren't many untapped routes from Chennai. At present Madurai has no air connectivity with Bangalore but nine daily flights to Chennai. "Kozhikode and Mangalore are under served from Chennai but there is not enough demand on these routes. There are cities in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh which have a seasonal demand from Chennai. Again there is a difference between AirAsia and AirDeccan. When Deccan started operations it was the only one offering cheap fares. But this strategy of offering low fares is being used by every one now,'' said an executive of a rival private airline. "There has to be a reason why I as an IndiGo customer would want to travel on AirAsia. Perhaps I will fly to feel the experience or see the nice aircraft but I will need some thing more tangible to hook me. That could be add on frills in a package, pricing or loyalty programme,'' said Gaurav Sundaram, country head, Egencia, the business travel arm of Expedia. Sundaram draws a parallel with retailers who keep the prices low but attract customers with loyalty programmes, credit cards and cash back offers. |

Clark Airport supports AirAsia's move to NAIA
After AirAsia Philippines announced that it is moving its hub to Manila, Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) president Victor Jose Luciano expressed support to the decision of CIAC's biggest locator. “Clark will continue to give fullest support to its airlines, and will give all the encouragement to AirAsia to increase flights out of Clark," Luciano said in a statement Friday, September 13. “Clark acknowledges the challenges confronting AirAsia Philippines, made more daunting with the acquisition of Zest Air while the latter is in the midst of hurdling regulatory issues,” he said. AirAsia has stakes in ZestAir, which suffered massive financial losses from the 4-day grounding of its fleet in August. AirAsia will extend financial help to Zest Air, which will soon be rebranded as AirAsia. AirAsia will soon be operating in Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 4 (NAIA-4) where Zest Air has slots in. |

QUOTE(duckaton @ Sep 20 2013, 03:52 PM) more so the way the govt treats toni recently. AA is now more focus in the foreign JV. The recently JV in India set to make AA even bigger. Yes the current income is now generated mainly from Malaysian operation, but next 5 years I think the Foreign JV would be the major contributor better go concentrate and invest in other region just saying... |
