AirAsia to reap RM180m from Tune Ins IPO AirAsia Bhd is expected to see mark-to-market profits of over RM180m in its books after the listing of Tune Ins Holdings Bhd (TIH) ahead of Christmas, said a financial executive familiar with the deal. This is based on the airline's original investment of about RM16m for a 20% stake in TIH and the insurer's estimated valuation of some RM1bn upon listing. Earlier this month, AirAsia exercised its right under the Call Option Agreement with TIH and Tune Money Sdn Bhd to purchase 20% of TIH. The option price was set at one time the net asset of TIH subject to a maximum price of RM16m. The Edge Financial Daily learned that the promoters of the IPO exercise are looking to list TIH at at least 20x price-to-earnings ratio, raising RM1bn to RM1.2bn. The selling point of this IPO is the travel industry, not general business. TIH already has a captive market, which is AirAsia's customer base. There are even plans to get rid of TIH's motor insurance and acquire more insurers regionally to strengthen its focus on travel insurance," said the financial executive. QUOTE(hyzam1212 @ Oct 31 2012, 08:15 PM) What does it mean actually since AirAsia X is on MITI ahead of Tune...I dont understand I also don't understand. people say first must come on sc website (draf prospectus) than only real IPO. Tune ins follow that. Now AirAsia X skip the SC & go MITI first even before the draf prospectus on SC website is out. So I don't know which will be out first

CIMB Research TP RM3.50
it preferred to take a long-term view on AirAsia, which remains Asean's premier LCC with growth tentacles in North Asia.
“Feedback was generally positive and investors believed in the credible business model. However, consensus was that it would face headwinds from Malindo's entry,” it said.
The research house said investors believed that although Malindo will not be an existential threat to AirAsia, the impact on the latter's profitability will be negative.
CIMB Research said as a result, investors were waiting for the “right price”, suggesting that new buying will materialise only if the share price weakens sufficiently.
“We retain Outperform and our target P/E of 9.0 times (sector average). Expansion into the underpenetrated North Asian market is a potential catalyst,” it said.

RHB Research upgrades AirAsia to Outperform, FV RM3.61
RHB Research Institute has upgraded AirAsia Bhd to an Outperform from Trading Buy with a fair value of RM3.61.
It said on Thursday the low-cost carrier's nine-months core profit before tax (PBT) came in within its forecast but below market expectations.
For the nine-months ended Sept 30, 2012, earnings surged 256.5% to RM1.527bil from RM428.49mil in the previous corresponding period. Revenue increased by 11.5% to RM3.587bil from RM3.216bil.
RHB Research said AirAsia reiterated that low cost was its "key weapon".
It said that there was certain "over-reaction" by the market to the Malindo news, of which to a certain extent, has also been "blown out of proportion" by the media.
"While both low-cost air travel markets in Asia and Europe are bracing for more players and hence competition, Asia is still experiencing tremendous growth vis-vis Europe that is mature and saturated.
"For that reason, AirAsia believes that its overall yields and hence margins may not necessarily drop with the entrance of Malindo," it said.
The research house pointed out that AirAsia has just decided to deploy 10 new aircraft to Malaysia for FY12/13 vis-vis only five according to its original plan as it expects robust demand growth in Malaysia thanks largely to international traffic brought into Malaysia by AirAsia X.
"We are now beginning to find AirAsia's valuations fundamentally attractive. Upgrade to Outperform from Trading Buy. Fair value is RM3.61," it said.
To recap, AirAsia's net profit rose 3.6% to RM157.81mil from RM152.29mil a year ago. It posted a record revenue of RM1.24bil, up 14.4% from the RM1.081bil. Earnings per share were 5.70 sen compared with 5.50 sen.

MP: Tony Fernandes a thief "We all know that Tony Fernandes is a penyaggak (thief). He will want 100 per cent profit in everything. He invests in everything, even sports," Bung said, while discussing the issue of whether the low cost airline would shift its operations to KLIA2 once the government completes KLIA2 construction April next year. Bung was unapologetic everytime AirAsia's name was brought up during the wrap up, going as far as saying that the airline can "berambus" (get out) from the country, in light of suggestions that the carrier could shift its operations to Indonesia. "I think on behalf of the people of Malaysia, I would say AirAsia can berambus from the country," he said. Bung claimed that the government is giving too much consideration to AirAsia's demands, and said that the government's leniency with the low cost airline is what's causing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) to be mired in debt. http://www.mmail.com.my/story/mp-tony-fernandes-thief-38238

Did some search on SpiceJet India & found some interesting info. SpiceJet is link to Kalanithi Maran of Sun Group (SunTV). He own direct 16.27% and indirect 32.32% (via KAL AIRWAYS PRIVATE LIMITED). He is the person involved in the maxis-aircel case in india. Why AirAsia in talk to this particular company when there's a lot more india LCC to choose. This confirm AirAsia link to AK as what some people are saying on streets. just my opinion

Intresting news I found on the net. From what I read, found out that Airasia may have had begun on the right note with the right people particularly Conor McCarthy who was the ex-director of operations of Ryanair. From 60 LCC in Europe, now only the successfully LCC are Ryanair & EasyJet. http://www.intellecpoint.com/2012/12/airas...ot-unusual.html
