Clark Airport supports AirAsia's move to NAIA

After AirAsia Philippines announced that it is moving its hub to Manila, Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) president Victor Jose Luciano expressed support to the decision of CIAC's biggest locator.

“Clark will continue to give fullest support to its airlines, and will give all the encouragement to AirAsia to increase flights out of Clark," Luciano said in a statement Friday, September 13.

“Clark acknowledges the challenges confronting AirAsia Philippines, made more daunting with the acquisition of Zest Air while the latter is in the midst of hurdling regulatory issues,” he said.

AirAsia has stakes in ZestAir, which suffered massive financial losses from the 4-day grounding of its fleet in August. AirAsia will extend financial help to Zest Air, which will soon be rebranded as AirAsia.

AirAsia will soon be operating in Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 4 (NAIA-4) where Zest Air has slots in.

I can't remember honestly. Lowest point was about 80 cents back then. I bought and sold off all during the peak last year. Did some trading but not contra on this counter pretty often last year.

AA's fare is getting more expensive. Perhaps because of that investors are expecting better results

lowest was RM.0.80, i remembered i bought it at 0.85 last time... then sold @ 1.8

Maybe the foreign investor started investing again in AA after the recent sell-off

AA is now more focus in the foreign JV. The recently JV in India set to make AA even bigger. Yes the current income is now generated mainly from Malaysian operation, but next 5 years I think the Foreign JV would be the major contributor

AirAsia's India partner opposes Tata-Singapore Airlines joint venture

The Tata group's joint venture with Singapore Airlines to set up a full-service carrier in India appeared to have flown into an air pocket on Friday, with one of the Indian conglomerate's partners in an earlier low-cost airline venture hitting out at the decision, calling it "unethical" and saying he was shocked to hear the news.

Arun Bhatia, whose Telestra Tradeplace is one of the partners in AirAsia India, the soon-to-be-operational three-way venture that also includes Malaysia's AirAsia and Tata Sons, told ET NOW that he was completely in the dark about any talks for the full-service carrier between the Tatas and SIA.

But sources familiar with the matter said AirAsia, the 49% partner and the key driver of the low-cost airline, and its chief Tony Fernandes knew about the parallel negotiations that the Tatas were having with Singapore Airlines and had also given their "stamp of approval".

One of the sources said both the airline propositions were different and do not compete with each other. "To me, these are convenient balloons that are being floated to perhaps come in the way of a smooth takeoff."

"It's a storm in a tea cup," this person said, requesting anonymity.

Although Tata officials have privately insisted that AirAsia has been on board with the decision, the Malaysian group and its normally loquacious chief Fernandes have said virtually nothing.
