Gears OF war 2!!!
hahahaha

But I have to say...
What about Battlefield: bad Company?

90% destructive enviroments?
This game is gonna redefine FPS.

I say they should win.

GTA 4 was a good game, but it didn't really live up to my expectations(I finnished the game in 2 days mind you..)
MGS4 is gonna be great, but they have never won GOTY before (i think) cause MGS is more towards story telling and about epic movie momments.

Yeah, I agree it is too early for GOTY. Most games aren't even released yet, and we know how accurate and 'on-time' games release dates are. Unless we are talking about GOTY09/10... smile.gif

For now, I can just say it's hard to beat GTA4. The only disadvantage GTA4 has is its released earlier in the year. People usually tend to 'forget' its greatness when the year ends!

I would also like to comment a sad state of affairs that all the games mentioned are conveniently sequels. Is the gaming industry running out of fresh ideas?

if anything, gamers are to be blamed.
look at beyond good and evil.
great game, but did it receive the response it deserved?
NO.
gamers instead preferred to rely on proven a franchise

Beyond Good & Evil was a good game. Sadly, it sufferred from poor sales.....but gamers can't be blame for choosing what they want to play and there is still hope for Beyond Good & Evil 2......

Verdict's still out for those games, much less whether they belong in the GOTY league but nevertheless, yes, we salute the bravery and vision. Hope the sales figures will fairly reward these developers notworthy.gif

one that has been released is STEAMBOAT CHRONICLES......it's a very good game but the poor graphics may turn you off at first....check out the gamespy review.....I have played it....it's a very good game in my opinion, but you can see the budget wasn't enough for the designer's vision...

judging by the GTA4 record-breaking sales, looks like the trend is here to stay ... tongue.gif

like the movies, big games developers (or should I say consortium as they eat up small developers anyway) will churn out crowd-pleasing, mass produced, sales-guaranteed products.

most of the time, innovation is sacrificed as time is critical. fresh ideas takes time in terms of concoction as well as public acceptance.

hence innovation normally comes fr indy companies, who will not have the cash to realise their idea's full potential anyway to begin with.

unless they get eaten up by the big boys, which means their priorities change.

so starts the cycle again.
