QUOTE(Pennywise @ Nov 24 2008, 01:11 PM) In this forum or in puppy.com.my? I dont think there's anyone in here who can give a proper westie cut. But, I do have someone to recommend if you're interested. who and where is she located? i got to say that the SS2 shop groomers have changed and they are not as good anymore. There is a girl who bought Casper's sister and I found her through Dogster. She is a full time groomer and she does stripping for westie. |

QUOTE(larryho @ Dec 2 2008, 08:43 PM) Its really good that v as the proud owners of westies really understand this dog. For new owners getting tis dog, better do some research before getting it..make sure its from a good breeder and not those who r juz breeding for the sake of money. hi larryho, is Casper cured from this? i am glad you shared this cos i won't be surprised if Buffy is suffering from something very similar.I hope all owners are aware that westies are prone to malassezia and atopic dermatitis as i had shared wit u all the case of my casper. That is why, i really dun recommended owners to get westies from petshop because you are not aware of the parents background. (Anyway, v imported casper back from Czech but he was ok over there. When he came back, it might be the cause of sudden change in the climate that cause the skin prob to erupt and most vet over here are not aware of this skin prob because westies were damn rare tat time.) I would like to share wit you all tis website of westie skin prob; http://www.westiemed.org/health/malassezia/ |

QUOTE(acsyen @ Dec 15 2008, 10:09 AM) No they're not.. The owner of this dogs are not keen on them anymore and will be surrendering them to me. well, i hope you do a great job looking after them....frankly, i don't pretend to know why the owner "is not keen anymore" but that i think that's just wrong. how can one day you become "not keen" to keep your dogs... |

QUOTE(Pennywise @ Dec 20 2008, 02:55 PM) Buffy's fur is getting long and probably due for grooming soon again. I kinda am not very impressed with Seapark groomers anymore so may switch to Puppy Cottage in TTDI.But we are still treating Buffy's skin issues with medication so hopefully her skin continues to get better. |

wzseow, if snowball is between 7 to 9 kg, then i feel the weight is about normal.
pennywise, marquis is looking awesome! buffy's condition is getting better but we see Dr Sia every 2 weeks for checkup and medication. the front part of her never had problems, it is her lower half that is a bit botak (now growing hair already) as she is itchy and bites the fur. last check up with Dr Sia showed that there is some signs of Malassezia.... QUOTE(Pennywise @ Dec 21 2008, 09:28 AM) muchan86, oops...i thot your Marquis so gorgeous liao.... The supermodel westie was born that way. That is Irene Kang puppy. We visited her when we were up in Penang for the Jazz Festival. Then terus my gf kena racun... LoL. May buy a female from her next year. ihawk98, THat is not Marquis la... LoL, Marquis also got no standing if placed next to the Westie. Marquis fur is long but not like super round head like that. Kakaka... That westie is Irene Kang's from Penang. We visited and she poisoned us! Hahaha... So now, maybe will buy a female. Still thinking. Malassezia is the same as larryho's Casper is it? Every 2 weeks, sure is costly. If got progress, ok lah. If not, better go for second opinion. But hearing that hair is growing should be good news la. Nothing much to worry about. yeah, Malassezia seems to be the same as larryho's casper. the treatment plan for Buffy quite tedious...medications everyday. shampooing with malaseb etc... |

QUOTE(wzseow @ Jan 17 2009, 12:34 AM) Hi Ziramitchi, let me clarify. the westie that has alleged skin problems and suspected malassezia is NOT from overseas. it happens to be the one bought from Ipoh. my thailand westie has no skin problems whatsoever... That statement is not entirely true. I believe if you import your westie from other countries, they might suffer skin problems due to weather difference, like what ihawk and larryho's westie are experiencing. People like myself and Pennywise do not have major skin problems with our westies. Mine is just a minor case of bacterial infection. So Westies are fine in Malaysia, just becareful of what you're feeding them, if i'm not mistaken westies are not suitable to consume chicken based food. So where do you plan to get your westie from? here is my experience with Sparky:
when we first got him, he would be picky about food and take his time to eat. sometimes won't touch the food, and then we removed it. then he gets hungry and vomits bile. then we tried leaving the food around and he would sometimes eat his breakfast at 3pm in the afternoon and then spoiling his dinner feeding time. we tried adding Ceasar to his dry kibbles which helped a bit but ocassionally he will still refuse to eat. it was not until we got Buffy (2nd dog in the house) which caused him to change his habit. he now waits to eat and rushes through his food. and my conclusion is that having the 2nd dog in the house created competition. if he ate slow, Buffy would finish first (she eats very fast) and then steal his food. and both eat dog kibbles right out of the box without any additional "ingredients" or water... QUOTE(Pennywise @ Mar 4 2009, 10:58 PM) Marquis had a lot of tangles lately so I brought him for basic grooming today, for the first time and was charged RM60. The pet shop did a fairly decent job, so no complains there. On top of that, I get a lot of discount on some of the items I bought - a bottle of All System #1 conditioner, 10 BARK canned dog food, 1 bag of adult Eaglepack and 1 for puppy. bro, did you go back to SS2 for grooming?...i've changed to Puppy Cottage already.I think should be ok until he finishes his food kua. Takkan wanna throw away? I also bought Nutro the last time and just swapped to Eaglepack today! Yea, while playing with the big dice, he look very cute right and scared of ticklish wan. LoL. |

QUOTE(Pennywise @ Mar 11 2009, 10:12 AM) Marquis latest photo not so nice because he grow up liao and recent grooming 'spoilt' him. i sympathize with you pennywise. one of the groomers at SS2 also 'spoilt' Sparky's look and that was enough for us to switch.I need to try out Puppy Cottage, wonder if they're good. Need to see ihawk98's furkids picts first. am heading to Puppy Cottage this Saturday afternoon. will try to take some pics for you after the grooming. |
