The portfolio part is just for comparison purposes later on, so don't worry about it. Well the English test does have its standards, but no one has had any problems with it so far. |

QUOTE(booblegum @ May 27 2008, 11:53 AM) Hello good sir completely agree with you. before i study multimedia, i already research the salary and the demands. but then i dont wanna waste my life doing things that im not enjoy just to get alot of money. so far it already 1 years and im enjoy doing the assignment and all (because it something that i love). i didnt even stress compare to my friend(their parent force them to study "demand course") where they end up being miserable and regret. if u doing things that you like and interest then u never bored, u feel like doing a hobby rather than work.I read everything you said and of course i've considered what you've said even before i started this thread. I've did a salary check on Graphic Designers, Interior Designers on jobstreet.com and it seems the average pay is 2-3k per month? That's pretty low. VERY LOW. I love money, who doesn't? But it's not the ultimate thing i seek in life. Because well, i guess i'm not one who pursues materials or spend a million dollars on my family and houses and lands and properties etc. To me, i really have not much of an interest in that. Well job satisfaction, well.. of course i want that. That's the reason why i'm enquiring about studying arts and all. Because it's true that 80% of people work for the sake of money and they do not enjoy it. So i don't want to be that 80%, i know it may sound naive. But this is my dream i'm talking about. It's my lifetime career, i'm not gonna spend my entire life running a company, doing business, perhaps cheating and backstabbing just to sit the highest position. Being flexible is never an option if you wanna succeed in life right? Maybe i haven't experienced working till 3AM or so, but i'm currently in my school's Editorial Board and yes assignments to create layouts and stuff occur VERY frequently. I know i cannot compare to working till 3AM, but it's a starting point and it's good training I really thank you for your advise! It's not that i'm not ignoring it, or denying it's truth, but.. doing something i want, and going for the best college, and spending my whole life into a career, it really takes much thoughts and research, basically something i don't want to regret. I don't want to end up like 80% of people doing something they don't like. Or maybe someday when i retired, then i use my money to do Graphics and all, it's quite a waste to me. Yes and i absolutely agree with having the right attitude. I think passion, attitude and talent are the 3 basic needs i guess And thank you everyone for your honest and encouraging comments and replies! Most of my friends graduated from illustration works in the concept art department, drawing ideas and designs for commercials, games, TV series, movies and etc..As for job hunting, I think you just have to approach the correct design studios and present to them your portfolio. About freelancing, I know a couple of guys actually make big bucks from commission work at deviantart. Your drawings must be damn good though.. |

Hello! I am completely new here (sad and insecure) and i am planning to continue my studies to the one academy, particularly in advertising and graphic design diploma program. From the reviews and advices, is toa that bad?? I know that the reviews were from at least last year, but are there any better changes esp in job prospect??? Any advices would be highly appreciated! Oh and also, i actually won one of the top 10 young outstanding artist awards, and that's probably a huge help for me when i am actually continuing to toa. But, after hearing so many heart breaking truths about toa, i am very confused

I graduated this year from multimedia design
I'm now in a video production house as junior assistant producer Get to work with the senior producer on projects Surprise surprise I get to tell video editor what to do so I'm left with doing script writing n paper work when I thought I'm just a entry level video editor. Pay RM 3k All the JavaScript coding and learning to make simple mobile game gone to waste since I'm not in that line. But the web designing is good as you can use that to do e commerce I also help manage my boss company website since we are a small video production team and I got to know them through networks. Portfolio is important! In my interview first thing they as is on my projects. How I design it, the procedure how long it take This post has been edited by Lumiaaa: Oct 16 2017, 02:23 AM |

Hello 👋
I am currently in my last year in high school (IGCSE) and wish to head towards art as my eventually career. If I may, I would like to ask a few questions regarding toa 1.Which branch is better, the penang or kl one? 2.How much is the average cost if I were to choose to study at kl? 3.Is their animation course good? 4.How much is the workload :’) |

QUOTE(Lumiaaa @ Mar 14 2016, 10:56 PM) I get some horror story about how Multimedia grads cant get job end up as MLM direct sales It really depends for Multimedia. There's so many things you can go for. It's kinda like a "Jack of All Trades, Master of None".true ah I think friend just messing with me MM graduates what job did u get? hows the pay In Malaysia though, the pay has really stagnated with fresh grads lucky to get the starting 2.5k as some companies would negotiate lower. Then again, there are some jobs that start off with a higher pay, but then you get what you're getting paid for and those jobs require more professionalism and study time. (Eg. Doctors, Engineers. etc...the ones they call the core careers) I took up MM, and ended up working in an events company. Mostly doing 3D layouts and some Graphic Design, but I also get the opportunity to head out to events. This is mainly because I am the active type. Can't sit in office all the time and just stare at a screen. My office was kind to let me pick up emcee-ing for when I'm on duty at events. So yeah, it just depends on the person. Plenty of jobs out there. You're young you can try anything. p.s.: But then, I have friends who graduated with MM degree, ended up doing customer call center and ended up as team leader. They enjoy it, so it really is up you. This post has been edited by vinnyming: Sep 23 2019, 05:31 PM |
