As many of these same threads of recommendation for speakers has been opened.

Why not look at the previous threads as they have already been discussed in details over and over again.

Please also tell us what you currently have, your budget, and your car.

You can check out www.kklau.com.my The owner KK Lau, is an IASCA sound quality champion. I'm sure he can help you out. He won't push you into buying anything you can't afford, and his workmanship is very tastefully done. Good luck smile.gif

Unless it is really cheap. Which I believe doesn't make too much of a difference.

RM500 will buy you a used amp that's not too shabby. But you have to visit the ICE forums and see if you're lucky. Try www.iascamalaysia.com

quality wun be any diff it's juz loud ( SPL ), in terms of quality, 1 good pair of 2 way speakers can beat 10 pairs of cheap 2 way speakers easily. Unless u r so rich to use all hi end speakers then u will get clearness and loudness.

Even if you have 10 pairs of Hi-End speakers, the quality will have definitely go down.

Common sense. In a car, there are not enough space to place 10 speakers. So you place them anywhere there is space.

Imagine sound coming from everywhere, or anywhere. It's plain messy and useless.

cheh, full surround ma... can be a moving concert, roadshow, and showoff. Saw a pickup of kenwood show car, consist of 10 or 12 10" woofers in a pickup... damn...

Added on May 14, 2008, 2:43 pma gud pair of coaxials should be around 500-1000, then component set will vary. Comp sets can cost ranging from 1k (reference class) - 3 - 4k (hi end).

component set is a speaker set consists of 3 ( 2-way ) or 4 ( 3-way ) component, a crossover, a tweeter and a mid-bass + a 3" mid range if 3 way comp. Size of mid bass may vary from 4", 5 1/4", 6.5" and 8".

i definately suggest save more. at least have 1000 to get a set. i think around that can get a nice set, but bear in mind dat u will need amp to power it to sound nice. Without amp it's not so nice. And a sub too.

HU..head Unit
amp or not ..is depends on ur budget/need.
if u plan u to upgrade to higher spec like alpine type r/type x or boston pro/spz , (not sure about kenwood, or other better brand)
then u need a decent amp to power ur component sets.

good head unit still important .is something like piggyback ECU.
better hardware u install, HU will boost the true potential from the component.

believe me ..if u install expensive HU only will produce better sound stage than oem HU + cheapo amp + component (not included woofer)

really bro for 500 u really can't do much in ICE. I rarely come across gud sound system without amp, at least not for my ear. Doesn't have the power in music. HU does make really big difference, and i mean those dat worth above 1k. Below that u can expect improvement but not to the max. But enough for mid end setup.

If brand is not so important to you, mebbe can consider Kenwood. Get the ones with 24-bit DAC, 4v line out, you won't regret it. Less than 1k smile.gif

With a good head unit, you can power the existing speakers with the built in amp first, then next time when you have additional budget then change speakers. After that only consider an amp. With this upgrade path you will get discernible improvements in sound quality with each step.

i wouldn't recommend 1 to go step by step, if u wan upgrade, make sure it is the best u can do. Cos i did upgrade mine step by step and at the end i spent much more. Of course this does not apply to those who is not into ICE seriously and no more future upgrade. But beware, the greed of the human's heart can exceed ur imagination...

errm..if u got amp n oem HU. u only can blast the music, but in car sound stage quality is gone.
u can't even hear a single instrument that play from ur cds.

if u hv HU install 1st ..u can play around like balance, fade , 4ways sound delay function. more detail EQ settings,
wide bass.

ur sound stage produce in ur car more accurate n clarity as well. no ear pinching effect.

ok my opinion..hehe..HU + component(front 2 doors 1st) . 2speaker ori at the back dun go kacau. u wil save a lot liao.

If TS is serious in upgrading his ICE, better go bit by bit. But as they say, GIGO. That said, the OEM HU is oftentimes maligned by crappy speakers. So get a decent set of front components first. Try DLS Reference series, not too expensive and cheaper if you can get used ones.

But if RM500 is the absolute budget that he has period, then just speakers will have to do. Just don't make the mistake of wanting everything, i.e., Cap Abang amp, components and HU at one go on a limited budget, only to find the need to upgrade each and every part which costs a lot more money in the long run.

At least by buying quality stuff, even if he wants to upgrade in future there is a ready market for his used parts. Cap Abang stuff, rugi kaw kaw cos very few ppl will want them.
