On the contrary, do read THIS ARTICLEAnd just to share an interesting quote from the article: QUOTE "People with high concentrations of steroids or cholesterol on their skin surface attract mosquitoes," Butler tells WebMD. That doesn't necessarily mean that mosquitoes prey on people with higher overall levels of cholesterol, Butler explains. These people simply may be more efficient at processing cholesterol, the byproducts of which remain on the skin's surface.

thanks to sangrenab... QUOTE Who Mosquitoes Like Best
While researchers have yet to pinpoint what mosquitoes consider an ideal hunk of human flesh, the hunt is on. "There's a tremendous amount of research being conducted on what compounds and odors people exude that might be attractive to mosquitoes," says Joe Conlon, PhD, technical advisor to the American Mosquito Control Association. With 400 different compounds to examine, it's an extremely laborious process. "Researchers are just beginning to scratch the surface," he says.
Scientists do know that genetics account for a whopping 85% of our susceptibility to mosquito bites. They've also identified certain elements of our body chemistry that, when found in excess on the skin's surface, make mosquitoes swarm closer.
"People with high concentrations of steroids or cholesterol on their skin surface attract mosquitoes," Butler tells WebMD. That doesn't necessarily mean that mosquitoes prey on people with higher overall levels of cholesterol, Butler explains. These people simply may be more efficient at processing cholesterol, the byproducts of which remain on the skin's surface.
Mosquitoes also target people who produce excess amounts of certain acids, such as uric acid, explains entomologist John Edman, PhD, spokesman for the Entomological Society of America. These substances can trigger mosquitoes' sense of smell, luring them to land on unsuspecting victims.
But the process of attraction begins long before the landing. Mosquitoes can smell their dinner from an impressive distance of up to 50 meters, explains Edman. This doesn't bode well for people who emit large quantities of carbon dioxide.
"Any type of carbon dioxide is attractive, even over a long distance," Conlon says. Larger people tend to give off more carbon dioxide, which is why mosquitoes typically prefer munching on adults to small children. Pregnant women are also at increased risk, as they produce a greater-than-normal amount of exhaled carbon dioxide. Movement and heat also attract mosquitoes.
So if you want to avoid an onslaught of mosquito bites at your next outdoor gathering, stake out a chaise lounge rather than a spot on the volleyball team. Here's why. As you run around the volleyball court, the mosquitoes sense your movement and head toward you. When you pant from exertion, the smell of carbon dioxide from your heavy breathing draws them closer. So does the lactic acid pouring from your sweat glands. And then -- gotcha. btw... can anyone explain in short...?

you'll attract mosquitoes to you if you wear dark colors...
and mosquitoes only go for certain ppl...it's like human produce certain "pheromones" that attract them. am not sure how true is this, it appeared in the news long long time ago..

Nyamuk loves Cholesterol? Nyamuk loves B+ group?
Hmmm... this makes me think I want to make a thesis about Nyamuk's preferences to human blood content.. haha... actually, I'm thinking about "Effects of HIV-contaminated blood derived from Mosquitoes to humans" <--- it got me thinking when I kill some nyamuks with fresh blood... ngehh...

Through my observation during a family BBQ session one evening, (geez, I sound like a scientist hahah), I found that family members with high cholesterol records are more likely to attract mosquitoes compared to other low cholesterol family members.
So in conclusion to this we could say that high cholesterol level in a person is the main culprit for mosquitoes bites.

basically B type blood or cholesterol is not the key attractive the mosquitoe, but the certain biological acid that ur body discharge on the skin...... and of course CO2
so it does not mean, if u fat or bigger size surely got a lot of mosquitoe bite marks. but for those that sweat a lot and those sweat little yet have oily skin, u are prime target as far as i'm concern....

dont breathe, mosquitoes have sensors that detect hi CO2 emission, and thats how they trace you. You probably have a hi metabolic rate and burn a lot of CO2. or play a 3kHz sound, that can chase it away

yeah me too! I tend to be warmer than other people.
and whenever I get mosquito bites, my skin get really itchy and start having rashes.yes I HATE mosquito bites.
This is why I hate camping or dark area in Malaysia.
I tried slathering the anti-animal bites and all that, never works pun.
People told me it's because we have sweeter blood? I like eating sweet things but that theory seems so baseless.

I'm B type too & always hunt by mosquito among others. I once read an article said that mosquito love to hunt "acid-body" than "alkaline body" How to become more "alkaline" pula dunno loh.... Lesser eat meat gua I think.....
P/S: If you feel itchy after kena bite, use alkaline-base shampoo to wash the itchy area. This will help neutralize the acid thingy so won't feel itchy loh ^o^
