That day I called MBB for annual fee waiver. My anniversary will be next month, so I decided to give them an early call.

They said that they only could waive if it has been charged into the statement.

I heard some people say its better to have a backup CC from different bank, but I would like to know how likely that a card from 1 bank cannot go through and we need to use card from another bank for transaction (excluding case where we have maxed out our CC limit)? Will it be okay if we just depending on 1 CC from 1 bank?

It doesn't happen often, but in the past few years it's happened twice to me. Give one card, cannot go through. Give another card, it's ok.

I think perhaps the merchant's terminal cannot connect to the server to get the approval code for the transaction.

So, yes I think having a 2nd card is useful. Also with a 2nd card you might have offers and discounts different from what the 1st card has.

There're couple of purpose of having another (second) CC:

1. Approval failure
2. 1st credit limit has been maxed out
3. Different statement date
4. Different gateway
5. Benefits/Discounts

Oh ... But my mom also applied it a few months ago (in March). It took us a month to get the cards. MBB Gold AmEx credit card has a validity of only 3 years (member since 08, valid thru 4/11 stated on my MBB AmEx credit card).

By the way Tinkerbell, you have a Citibank Platinum credit card, right ? Is it a Visa Platinum or Mastercard Platinum ? Can you post a picture of it ? Of course with all the details embossed on the card censored. I really would like to know how does Citibank platinum credit card look like. So far i like HSBC Visa Platinum the most

it's abit stupid for the bank to charge me annual fees for my gold card and they know when i call they will / can waive for me immediately. if they just send a nice simple letter to tell me they will waive it, isn't it look even better on their customer service image? haih....

not complaint, just tot it would be better. btw, it's HLB.

BMM TreatPoints have no expiry, just like Citibank Reward Points.

EON Credit Cards aren't Free For Life with No Conditions like DA.  I believe U will need to use the card X number of times before U qualify it being Free.

The star was introduced during the time when fraudulent cases are rampant.
Thus it's a safety measure. During those times, when you still have the manual "swipe" machine which returns you the slip while the merchant keeps the slip.
I.e. they put your card face down on the slip and swipe it to make an impression on the slip.
Thus using the "star" it enables the fraud detection unit to identify whether or not the transactions are really fraudulent as the fraudsters wouldn't know how many star one has on his/her card and to mass produce, they would rather have the normal details on cards.

Any bank offer a good/higher Cash Rebate CC for any retail purchase and the points doesn't matter?

If I'm not mistaken, I came across a recent advertisement that says EON cc now offer 2% rebate for petrol purchases as well. This puts them on par with DA cards.

can anyone tell me how do i do a card to card application? let's say i have hsbc card now, how can i use it to apply citibank card?

I'm thinking of getting the MBB Amex but don't wish to have to send them all those documents once again.  Anyone knows a short cut?

I didn't visit the last PC Fair.  Ah well, I suppose I shan't go out looking for it - if I stumble upon it onli apply lah otherwise forget about it.. will just either use existing UOB or HSBC card.
