hi all.. I just graduated and work for 1 month. I would like to apply cimb direct access and i have several question to ask.
1. What document do I need in order to apply? is degree cert neccessary?
2. What is the diff between normal cimb cc and direct access?
3.Issit any1 who hold credit card can get rm50 if thy apply for you?
*
1. What document do I need in order to apply? is degree cert neccessary?
Salary payslip/offer letter, copy of IC.

If you submit a degree cert, your application could have a higher chance and faster processing.

2. What is the diff between normal cimb cc and direct access?
Different division and different set of privileges.

3.Issit any1 who hold credit card can get rm50 if thy apply for you?
I believe it's a rebate to your statement.

I think I'm finally gonna apply for MBB Petronas. Reasons :

1) Free for life annual fee
2) Free TnG Zing card
3) TP with highest value among CC providers.
4) My primary bank is MBB so I can pay on the spot and see the CC balance get reduced on the spot (unlike savings-> cc transfer @HSBC)

I dont really fuel up much so 2% from DA is moot. Any feedback on this card?
*

Bear in mind that MBB 5x TP with Petronas is going to end soon by 31st July.

QUOTE(SnoWFisH @ Jul 8 2008, 10:25 AM)
for CIMB DA you need degree cert, its one of the requirements as its specially for degree graduate. if you still dont have it yet, just get a confirmation letter from your faculty (i used a confirmation letter to apply for mine).

when ur card get approved, ur automatically enrolled in the MGM programme..

as for the rebate, i think u have to ask arsenal, i think he knows better.

im using DA as my primary petrol card. I hold a grudge with MBB  rclxub.gif ever since they shut down my savings account without notifying me.

Is your saving account dormant?

How do i access the DA member get member program?
*
No need to access. The new applicant must put your details or card details (cannot remember which one) in a special application form with MGM section.

The rebate will be credited directly into your CC account.

Encouraging credit card holders to pay full amount

KUALA LUMPUR: Credit card holders who pay the full amount will continue to enjoy the 20-day interest-free grace period, says the national cards group chairman Gan Kheng Chai.

He said Thursday that cardholders who paid the minimum 5% on their outstanding amounts for 12 months continuously, the interest on the remaining 95% would be charged 15% per annum.

However, those who defaulted once would see the interest charged on the outstanding balance be raised to 17%. Those who defaulted for the second time, the interest charged would be increased to 18 per annum, he said at a press conference in Bank Negara.

The national cards group represents all the banks which issue credit cards in Malaysia.

@shamsay,
I thought the 2% rebate is applicable for DA & CIMB MasterCard holders *shrugs*  Anyways, Citibank Shell does give rebate if U don't have any carry forward balance; it's just lower in percentage that's all biggrin.gif
*
I thought the 2% rebate:

CIMB Petronas Mastercard - only applicable for Petronas
DA Mastercard - for all petrol stations

CIMB MasterCard                      2% on Petronas Petrol

Maybank Petronas VISA            5x treat point on Petronas Petrol

CIMB DA                                  2% on all petrol

RHB Travel Money                      5% on all petrol (?, thats the one i know from their promotion flyer, valid until 31 August 08, at 1 sept will be 2%
                                                rebate only)

Citibank Shell Visa                      UP TO 5% rebate on Shell Petrol

For MBB Petronas Visa, I would like to see what kind of renewed offer from MBB. If not a good deal, might consider to use CIMB DA back. biggrin.gif

Co-branded card is usually to get rebate when you swipe at the co-branded merchant. Citibank Shell, Citibank Giant, MBB Petronas, CIMB Petronas and etc are cards grouped under this category. Other than it's nothing special or extra from classic card.

@David83,
Yup.. I suppose I don't think I be benefiting much from the rebates given hence never made an attempt to put in an application for a co-branded card.  I also don't like the idea of carrying too many cards around.  I recently applied for an Amex so I now have an additional card to carry.
*
I also don't like the idea of carrying so many cards in my wallet.

I don't carry my MBB Petronas Visa all the time.

I prefer to consolidate every swipe to a single card.

@David83,
It helps when U haf both a MasterCard & Visa from the same bank; that way U can still consolidate ur reward points; I just juggle usage between both *grins*
*
My primary card is MBB Visa Classic. I don't have MBB Mastercard. MBB Petronas Visa is my 1st co-branded card mainly used for petrol refueling at Petronas.

I seldom or rarely use my CIMB DA Mastercard.

Thanks for all reply thumbup.gif

So those co-branded or so called promotion card only have benefit among the selected merchandise ... nothing else.

Would you guys apply more on normal credit card or those co-branded ? Im headache which one to choose lol .. rclxub.gif

And how long it would take for the approval & I get the card physically ?

notworthy.gif
*
You could apply one normal and one co-branded. Then your headache will be lesser. tongue.gif

It could take few weeks to get your application approved depending on how good your credit history.

They'll usually mail or courier the card to your mailing address unless you specifically told them to send the nearest branch for pickup.

@Shinichi,
I don't see a need for more than 1 emergency back up card.  Also, applying for an additional CC would mean U have to pay annual fees for it; so Y bother?

@Hybz,
Not true - different cards (be it co-brand or not) have different benefits/promotions tied to them.  U can go through those promotions and see which one ur going to be utilising the most.  As to wait time, I've never waited more than 3 weeks before I received the physical card through courier.
*
Shinichi could target those which is free for life*.

As for Hybz, it's true that different co-branded card has different benefits/promotions but usually co-branded is tied one merchant. I don't want to get myself into nitty gritty stuffs by getting so many co-branded cards. Ha! Ha!

It is true except other than DA there really is no true free for life CC available *smiles* [and Shinichi's oredi holding a DA CC]
*
I believe CIMB Mastercard (not Petronas card) is also free for life if he wants it. tongue.gif

Otherwise, he may consider MBB Petronas Visa (co-branded).

I seldom use that card for normal swipe. I use it petrol refill at Petronas and online transactions.
