Posting this speedtest from taiping, my hometown which is covered by hsdpa.
It's freaking fast here compared to penang.

By the way, does the D50 lasts forever or you have some sort of contract and after your contract is over you will be paying RM98 per month again ? hmm.gif

Maybe, I find that during peak hours it is really congested so that could explain that there are many users in my area. hmm.gif

digilife, you probably can try to download the latest bitcomet from their site? or use a lower screen resolution? or perhaps update your gfx card drivers? if you are talking about download speed wise, my guess is as good as yours. you would probably need to "cari kawan" in celcom and ask them to "un-cap" your speed and "open" the port blocks.. if you can,pls include my acc in the list too.. i want.. drool.gif

another alternative is use a vpn service but be careful as some of these vpn "providers" are not so reliable. Some customers complain they lari after they paid 6months advance.

yong, yep i think prasys is right on that one. Too many users on hsdpa in your area bro.. tongue.gif even me back in "hulu" rawang can get hsdpa, but over
here in cheras only umts. If you are on D98 you better complain as you are not benefitting for the price you pay icon_rolleyes.gif

prolexus, wow! ohmy.gif thats fantastic speed. I think that speed just broke the record for the most logical speed anyone can ever get on celcom broadband.

frutie,i also envy that speed..

hrmm.. I think i've already touch 2+GB these two days in term of data download sweat.gif

Yep, the addendum on the D50 mentioned that it's rm50 for the rest of your life or until you decide to cancel it.

There's also no mentioning of the 5GB data cap that all of you here are made to sign either on D68 or D98 so i believe there is no capping on all D50 packages as well.

I only managed to know a handful of D50 users (non TM staff). I'd figure that the number to be less than 50 in the whole of malaysia. Very rare la.

Well in my opinion this is one problem most of us actually face, even sometimes when the speedtest is running halfway it would just stop and I suspect it has lost connection to the server too.

as usual la , now at home ..........forced UMTS cause my celcom prepaid sim is not showing the 3G icon only GSM wif the stn name marque-ing on the screen

user posted image

after reading the last 10 postings, i observed tat EVEN if u are in a HSDPA enabled area, your device wont shows HSDPA if the 10 available slots are taken up, but on the other hand , if u hav a HSDPA enabled device and ur package is capped at UMTS (3G) your device will still shows HSDPA eventhough u are not authorise to use it
and the conclusion is some D68 bugger can sometimes curi the free bandwidth freely available to satisfy their lust.
i beg to differ on my findings.......pls pls share your thoughts wif me dear

digilife.. doesn't work that way. It all depends on the "speed" celcom set your account. so no matter which mode you are on(hsdpa/umts/gprs),
as long as your profile at celcom's servers says you are tied to d68 plan(down:384-up:128) or d98(dunno the info) the tower will only give you that allocated max speed regardless of what mode you are on. I've done speedtest when im running on hsdpa with d68, and I didn't get the 1mb+ speed d98 users are enjoying cry.gif

Im not sure about the slots theory any comms engineer care to highlight? my guess is ideally that the celcom cell will kick a d68 user running on hsdpa to umts mode if it detects a d98 user trying to connect at the same tower when the hsdpa slots are maxed hmm.gif well, sometimes i noticed
my e220 jump to umts for a few minutes when running on hsdpa then jump back to hsdpa.. gives me a bit of headache when it does that coz usually active connections will drop/lag for a moment.

celcom staff pls offer some icon_question.gif or advise and more importantly give us d50 package tongue.gif .. thank you

Yes its normal to see , maxis does this as well. If they see you are ilding or you aren't using that much of bandwidth. They would automatically kick you from HSDPA to UMTS to make room for other users who wants to get more bandwidth. If the slots all are taken up , you'll have to wait. Its because D98 package gets a higher priority. The reason why your network mode drops from HSDPA to UMTS is because of the number of users that are connected to a cell tower. Suppose if they are 15 D68 users and 10 D98 package users , the D68 users that are on the HSPDA wagon will be kicked and it makes room for the D98 users to enjoy HSDPA speed and also not to forget the lower latency that hsdpa offers

if u read back v1, some d68 really did managed to go beyond the 384 barrier, even i also managed too..........look at my sig , it was achieve b4 i upgraded to d98

i also noticed my connection will increase gradually upon connection, maybe like wat u mentioned d98 once locked on to hsdpa it will slowly knock those unauthorise d98 and in doing so will increases the speed too
