haha, not very long la...
well, if u are building your pc in short time, better go for 8800GTS, cause i dun think 4850 will have price slash so soon i would say 8800GTS can perform very well in most of the games on 1280X1024 edi

what darude say is correct... also, i would suggest you to get better brands like gigabyte, this is because although they are more expensive, they are actually using better components(which explain the higher price), which is better to overclock
but to take note that i heard from my fren that there are heat issues on 4850, i would like to suggest you to actually save more money to get 4870, since it can really last mush longer then 4850(from what i see that is...)

nvidia is putting 9800GTX to compete with 4850, so i think 9800GT wouldn't be that much better then 8800GTS, but do bear in mind that nvidia have physX driver support on 9-series cards(which includes our card)

u know the physics card company PhysX?? Nvidia bought them over, and now 9 series card can also have physics calculation feature in games that support

how should i put this, cos normally physics is calculated by our CPU, but as all of us know, the highest end CPU will only have 4 cores, and the calculation capability is quite limited if you compare with graphic cards. Originally, PhysX company have their own physics card to aid the calculation of physics if the CPU really cannot do the calculation properly, like if there are way too massive calculation to be done. Now, nvidia bought over physX company, and have developed a driver, currently only work on 9-series and GT-series, which allows our graphic card to perform like the physX card, which means that our graphic card not only generates graphic, it will also handle the physics calculation part.
This is good because it would really unlock the capability for graphic cards on multitasking. and if u ask me, it's bloody good, because we can save RM1000+ as we already have a physX card...hehehe

i'm using 8800GTS G92 and have PhysX running... explain that...
fyi, PhysX is supported on 8800 Series (G92 only), 9000 and GTX200 series.
in future, it will be expended to 8800 G80 (8800 GTS 384, 768mb, 8800GTX, 8800 Ultra, etc), according to nVidia.
the advantages is that physic can be calculated way faster on GPU than CPU, iirc, more than 10x faster...

see how you put it lor, im my opinion, if you can afford it, get yourself a full power CrossFire board, get one, and get 4850. After that card is outdated, just get a new card, and use that card as sub card

weeee... since i cant afford that...thats why i buy 4850 lo..if not i sure buy 4870...haha....i now planning to get a 4850...but not going for CrossFire board because no $$$.
ya lo....xiong a...if the Mobo only support PCIE-16x v 1.1, but the card like HD4850 is in PCIE-16 v2.0, than the performance will decrease or have any problem occur?

erm..just suggested PCI-E 2.0, but there isnt much problem to use v1.1(i also using)..if you planning on getting 4870x2, then must be v2.0, otherwise i think that is not a problem
