I went to do my alignment 2 days ago, and the mechanic said that he can't do it because the arm connecting to the wheel is damaged?

I didn't enquire further coz I thought he was conning me. Anybody know what he was talking about? If I did have to change it, what would be the estimated cost? unsure.gif

aiyo.. here's a quick guide:

1. disc player - change to a better one... preferably with USB ports~ thumbup.gif
2. alarm - can get this at around RM180~~ sui sui liao~
3. engine mounting - this is costly... check around..
4. aircon paiping donno why rosak - depends on which part...
5. 2 tayar botak - get Yoko Adrive or CC1~~ thumbup.gif
6. back sensor rosak. - this one not sure..
7. front small light burn 1 but hav to change both. - what a cacat statement.. just change the bulb will do~
8. the sign "D" in the dash board thing does not light up - there's a small bulb or LED at the meter panel.. can change one. smile.gif
9. found small rusty things on my front bonnet. - this one ar... sweat.gif re-do the paint job lor..

hope this info helps~~

my thoughts on ur upcoming plans...

loweing spring.. ive always been a fan of GAB... but lowering springs with stock abs tend to make the stock abs kaput faster... best is to change all at 1 go... otherwise, theres the TEIN Dress-Up Master... its a lowering spring designed to work with stock abs.

i'm looking forward to GAB SR series, comfort sport absorber WITH GAB lowered spring OR RS*R lowered spring... my stock absorber seems to be half dead already.

QUOTE
rims... i have the same thoughts as u... aka easy to wash... but ive always been a fan of 4 spoke rims (lesser spokes easy to wash tongue.gif). but the only 4 spoke i know that has 14" would be the SSR MK-IIR (commonly referred to as SSR MK-II) ...other alternatives would be 5 spokes i guess (RP01 brows.gif)....at the end of the day... its up to ur own personal taste.... but my advice.. if ur going for 14" might as well go for second hand jap rims... the prices for 14" are actually quite reasonable.

i'm still hunting around for 14" rims. saw before vios 14" stock rims in kelisa, looks good. i'm now hunting for 5 or 6 spoke rims.

QUOTE
upgrade braking...talk to kev.. he has the Myvi front discs... a forumer with the nick boolat is selling them in ZTH for RM250 full set.. just need to skim the disc and change the pads. everything else is plug and play...if not... a brake pad upgrade will do fine as well

yea i found boolat's thread in zth, but i already changed my mind, myvi front brake set maybe next time. no point to have so-so tires with better front brake. maybe i upgrade my rear brake to disc first... i changed my front brake pad btw...

QUOTE
custom exhaust systems are fine... but im not a believer in custom extractors..when it comes to extractors id go only with branded ones. mainly coz extractors are the most important and sensitive part of the exhaust system..so brands would have made some research on the gas flows unlike most custom ones where they just cut and bend to fit. brand id recommend would be Marco...bang for buck. around RM500 can get full set from extractor to tailpipe. and there has been many good feedback on them. theyre also only slightly noisier than stock...meaning u most likely wont get into trouble with the authorities for noise.

Marco... i will find around, will stick to branded then after ur advice. i need a extractor only, others i will maintain on stock unless some problem occur.

QUOTE
anti-roll bar first... next to a suspension upgrade, this makes the biggest difference in terms of handling.
tires... there are sooooooooooooooooo many choices for 14" man....unlike me running on 15" so limited. 14s even have the AD07...but id recommend the Hankook V8 first. from feedbacks, it supposedly excels where the AD07 lacks... in the wet.
i'm too lazy to hunt around for 165/60R14 tires, all i know is GoodYear NCT5 have this size. anyone know what other brand which is better then GoodYear NCT5 have the size of 165/60R14 with cheaper price?! because i'm gonna change the tires in this few days.

i done my service in perodua SC few days ago, performed engine oil change and full brake service. free engine oil as i collected 3L after 3 years, bendix brake pad and cycle & carriage air filter from spare part shop. everything cost me about rm180 exclude the engine oil as it's 'free'!

Gab comfort seems to hate the lowered springs tongue.gif
Hankook v8 rs all the way lah pls LOL better than bloody hard compound nct5 in wet AND dry and 165/55/14 is only rm122 to 140 compared to nct5 which I dare say is more expensive than hankook.
Correct about the bigger brakes but crap tire issue, but since you are about to change tires, I don't see anything wrong with driving slow for a couple of weeks until you get better rubbers. I did the same thing too. As for marco, maybe it's my piping problem or whatever, (my exhaust settings are like this now; marco extractor to 1.6" piping to bullet to midbox to straightflow muffler) but all my power seems to be in the 2500rpm to 5500rpm range. Oh well, no open pot, cams and engine management yet, so I'm considering it as a future investMent. How much are the gab comfort anyways? I have yet to try the feel of these new shocks...

Added on May 10, 2009, 7:19 pmBtw, actually rear disc brakes give you only marginal improvement as our brake balance is all at the front. It's more for the looks and IMHO, with a crappy torsion beam setup for our rear suspension, it's not helping much when you brake at the limit. Changing your rear brakes is only advisable if you have oversized front brakes, such as honda eg/ek or other systems

GAB comfort hates lowered spring?! then it's a bad news for me! i need a absorber that can couple with lowered spring, with less bumpy one. but i have no idea how much the GAB comfort cost...
hmm, hankook v8 rs... i will keep that in mind, because i'm changing 2 piece of tire to NCT5 this thu, another 2 piece will be few months later...
bigger disc rotor, the myvi set, is still in my consideration, but not as hurry as last time... let me satisfy that my tire is good enough already then i will go to brakes part! and yea u r right, it's advisable for oversized front brakes. but for me, the purpose of changing the rear drum brake to disc brake is because of the brake bias only. i don't expect it for very good emergency braking, but at least better then the drum. and i want to change it is not because of the look...

for lowered spring, you need shorter stroke shocks as well, if not your ride is as bumpy as hell. if GAB has built their comfort shocks according to OEM specs but with better lifespan, then it will not be suitable for lowering springs.

lol brake bias is at the master brake cylinder la, not the caliper, besides, when you brake, your car's weight will shift forwards, giving lesser traction towards the rear, negating the higher braking power on the rear wheels. just think about it whistling.gif
you try hard braking in a straight line on a straight road. even with my suspension setup which IMHO is stiff as hell, my rear wheels aren't really contributing to the braking power as the weight is all thrown towards the front...
