Personally, I dislike company changing their name, there are some keep on changing their name from one to another, until people forget where their origin name was.
Try to make people forget about it? Haha.

Good company seldom change their name one as their name is one of the asset of the company <-- goodwill if the company is really good one.

Don't get me wrong, I don't say company changing name one is not good as sometimes the need of merger or nature of company restrucuring which is inevitable.

To be fair ,I believe the stock short name is given by Bursa.

Also,the company did not change it's name,so there is no additional expenses.Sorry ,don't mean to flame you,just pointing out facts.

If Patrick Lim can be known as Patrick Badawi..... What does that mean?

Full name is still TM International, but the code name trading in KLSE will be changed from TMINT to TMI.

Still the question is why KLSE wants to change just barely a few days of starting trade?

u want to know the whole story of how they are related?? u can find in many articles on the net..

In TMI"s case,the company name remains,only the Stock shortname assigned by Bursa changed.So,I think TMI only need to make an official request to Bursa to changed the Shortname.

Once approved,Bursa make an annoucement and change the shortname on effective date.No filing or printing of new stationaries,

I agree on you this.
But it is very unprofessional as Kinwawa pointed out for a stock exchange (want to be a world class bourse) to change just a code name after barely a few days of using it. It just shows no properly study and preparation or forseeable prior to this.

All the research materials would have to be changed , that costs money.

They use code name ( not the number codes ) on all the materials.

Shortname is normally agreed to by the two parties first.In this case,I think someone in TMI had second thought or changes their mind.
