Last night I received a call from a guy, he said he wants to buy all my 6 robo babies, I asked him why he wants to buy all? Because usually people will buy 1 or a pair. Anyway I further asked him "do you have any hamsters currently?" He said "yes, a pair of robos". I told him even though robos are not solitary type, but sometimes also cannot put together with other robos (especially from different clans). They will fight even though they are female and male pair.

I normally would advise people who buy robos, observed them carefully after you mixed the new one with your existing robo. They may look in harmony during day time, but night time they may start to fight. If they are not a matching pair, then better split them apart into different cage.

lol ur DomDom run so fast. O.O
by the way, can anyone help answer me? ><
i posted a question but no one seems to answer it.  blush.gif
im using chipsi apple. oops.gif and i didn't know it was pine until u guys mentioned it. (i was dumb enough not to read the whole bloody package anyway.) i have been using it for quite a long time now. cry.gif will anything happen to my hamster? and i have about 1/4 of the bedding left, so i have to throw it away right?  icon_question.gif
*
Hi neshie, nobody can answer ur question 100% actually. as mentioned in the bedding review posted at Page 1, pine bedding can promote liver, lung and intestinal problems to hamster. it's the same thing if u think in another way using a human as example, a man who smoke may risk his life with lung/nose/throat cancer, but the word i'm using here is "risk", tat mean's maybe yes or maybe no. there r also sum ppl who smoke thru-out their life yet didn't suffer from these related sickness, but i can say they r only those very lucky 1. so, wat u gonna do is up to u. if for me, a pack of bedding doesn't really cost a bom, it's only about RM10, i will value my hamster's life more than RM10. Summore if touchwood ur hammy really get any sickness 1 day, ur vet bill is sure to be more expensive then RM10. So, think it properly n make ur own decision. smile.gif

Am researching at the moment LOL. Hamsters are so cute!

Do you guys have any preference on hamster? I used to own syrians as they are big and good to handle and play with. I've never reared dwarves though. Do you have any issues playing with dwarves? they're like so small im scare that i might squish them.

then dun squish them la sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif i've 3 diff species of dwarf, so i can say the most difficult to handle is robo lor.. tamest is winter white.. Russian campbell are GENERALLY very bitey.. but those hamsters that are home-bred are generally tamer than those from pet shops..

Most hamsters can become tame in 2 months with gentle regular handling. Hamsters normally only bite because they are frightened or not comfortable.

If the hamster is a bit jumpy or nervous it is a good idea first of all just to get it used to your hand before attempting to lift it out of its cage. Try gently stroking the hamster while it is in its cage and offering it pieces of food from your hand. It will soon realise that it has nothing to fear.

Next try placing your hand in the cage and letting the hamster investigate, and step onto your hand, whilst keeping your hand still. Once it is happy that there is nothing to fear, take off the top of the cage if possible or open the door of the cage, and gently scoop the hamster up in both hands. Do not hold it too tightly or squeeze it as this may frighten it. Don’t lift your hamster too high as if it jumps from your hands and falls it may injure itself. It is always best to handle your hamster whilst you are sitting down so that if it does jump it does not have far to fall and will simply land in your lap.

Once you have taken your hamster out of the cage, and are sitting, face the hamster towards you - they seem less inclined to jump if facing towards you. Let the hamster walk from one hand to the other. If your hamster does attempt to jump, let it and then simply pick it up again. It is better to do this than try and hold onto the hamster which may cause it to become frightened. Once it is happy to step from one hand to another, gently start to curve your fingers around it’s body so that it can begin to get the feel of being held.

Before long your hamster should be happy to walk from one hand to another with your fingers wrapped around its body and you can then start facing it away from you whilst you are sitting down and letting it walk again from one hand to another.

Some hamsters are more nervous than others and may take a little longer to become accustomed to being handled. Be patient and gentle and your hamster should become very tame.

If your hamster is really frightened or has had a bad experience being handled and bites whenever handled, try handling it whilst you wear a pair of gloves and handle it as indicated above. The wearing of gloves will help your confidence which in turn will help the hamster. Once the hamster stops biting you can move to handling the hamster without gloves.

Don’t handle your hamster directly after you have been handling food. Hamsters have extremely poor eyesight and rely on their sense of smell - if you’ve just been eating an apple, the hamster will smell this on your hand and think that your hand is an apple and may have a nibble!

Syrian Hamsters are quite easy to handle because of their larger size. Russian hamsters tend to be a little more lively and are not quite so easily handled by small children. Roborovskis are extremely lively and fast and therefore not a pet that is easily handled. They need to be cupped in your hand to avoid them running away, but they very rarely bite.

Younger children should be supervised when handling hamsters as they may unintentionally squeeze a hamster, causing it to nip or injuring it.

some of the robo cant be tame, and some are tame but have a fast movement..
but when u want to catch the hams in its cage, sure will be very hard..
just scoop with something (i always let my robo masuk in tunnel then close the hole with my hands), then bring it out..
then u can play2 lo, giving food from ur hands n make ur hands such a ladder..
need time la, mine now almost 3weeks since i bought her..
maybe need time, but once ur robo can stand in ur hand, u will feel that the world is in ur hand, wkwk
mine will only eat in my hand if i give kuaci and brocollli..
good luck!
