I just saw from cbt nugget thats we can't take ccna if we dont have existing ccna.

Must take ICND1(CCENT), wait 3 years then take ICND2(CCNA), then only i'll get my CCNA ... sweat.gif

Is that true ? Thats very time consuming lol ...

anyone can clarify this ?

What you read is old syllabus structure, it have been phase-out. Follow the new structure. For any cases, no need to wait, if you are ready, just go for the exam in the exam center. Just to clarify the new name for new syllabus is CCNA Exploration

New syllabus:

CCNA Exploration (Contains: CCNA 1 to CCNA 4 = "INCD1 + INCD2") >> Link

CCNA Discovery (Just a preparation course for CCNA - Ignored this cert if you are able to absorb the syallbus in CCNA Exploration) >> Link

Hmm, I got my CCNA cert back in mid-2006. Wasnt that hard la actually. I graduated in 2005 with a degree in programming, so my knowledge in networking was near to none. But then I got a book which is easy to comprehend so that makes things alot easier. Overall, I think its the choice of book that you choose to read that make a difference. For my case I was using a book from sybex. I've read the CiscoPress book and I felt the sybex was better. And no I didnt use P4S for ccna.

About current CCNA syllabus structure, I got no idea. But from what I heard, its been broken into 2 smaller components, and there's a new cert thats even lower than CCNA, CCENT laugh.gif Havent take any cisco exams after I've got my ccvp mid last year. CCIE is definitely my next target in the next few years to come. But there's so many fields to specialize in and I havent a clue which is the best path. Furthermore the lab exam fees are kinda steep. Gotta save some money before I can even dream of the exam blush.gif

I have both CCNA and CCNP. Will think for CCIE once Malaysia has the test center. Don't want to travel to HK or China for exam.

at least not so soon ... the installation base here still not large as compare to Asian countries ... China within 2-3 years already eligible to setup CCIE lab exams
