Hi guys,

Ok read a few threads on the mms application. It says that mms uses edge or gprs, but I don't want to switch on the edge all the time and get charged for that. So does mms really require edge to be switch on all the time? If you off it then will not get the mms from friends. A bit confuse. Anyone know how to use mms by switching edge on when need to get file or send file out?

Thanks.

hi sweelee

based on my experience & constantly checking on my GPRS/EDGE in out traffic on the settings, GPRS/EDGE would only activated when ure MMSing or streaming but once u done, it would terminate automatically BUT do hv application like bosspref which will "switch off" your EDGE/GPRS when u dont want to use it.... thumbup.gif

p/s bosspref u need to do it manually to "on or off" your EDGE/GPRS

well this become a cost issue if they actually use the gprd/edge connection
not only you will be charge for sending MMS(per msg) and also the data transfer ... you will be also be charged for receiving MMS .... which in this case not ideal at all.

the main issue here will be receiving because u need GPRS/EDGE connection on standby to receive MMS, and with that connection on standby , it's just too easy to accidentally press the browse internet button and ... weee..!! there goes your phone bill sky rocketing ..smile.gif

morning guys... you have to be extra careful with the GPRS/EDGE usage. Either yor subcscribe to the plan or have another normal handphone for sending mms. smile.gif

Hi,

Wow!! Thanks for the clarifications above. So how do we resolved this? We can't be putting GPRS/EDGE on standby all the time. I want to get the SwirlyMMS installed but looks like it needs to be installed with Bosspref too together. Currently, not using Bosspref just set up manually on the preference settings by putting Disable function in password. If you set Bosspref as off, will you still be able to use the SwirlyMMS app? (i.e is the GPRS/EDGE on standby to receive the MMS). Thanks in advance for all your input.

Swee
