I heard all white lens are waterproof, is it true?

No. f/4L and f/2.8L is actually not weatherproof. Only the IS variation is.

I watched a clip before...it was by canon themself. they sorta left the water running on the lens. I guess water resistant would be a better way to say it?

L lenses water resistant to a good extent. I usually wash my lenses under running water if they're dirty and they're fine. But sometimes crap like sand can infiltrate the focusing ring, if that happens, using a needle to scrape inside the ring is the best course of action.

Adding a tightly fitted filter will generally further water proof L lenses, especially ones with moving front elements.

It's a great lense. The output usually needs some sharpening, but all in all, it's renditions of scenes are pretty darn good. I wouldn't say it's soft, of course you can get the sharper non-IS version (doesn't have the resolution decreasing optical groups used in the IS mechanism), but if you ask me, the IS and low aperture make low light shooting a charm and of course offers the best decrease in shooting limitation. I usually don't give much crap about sharpness as a soft shot is better than a shot not taken.

The lense well built and takes water like a champ, although it hates sand, my focusing ring has a few grains in it and damn it's scratchy. The hood is great and so far had protected it from tons of damage ( i don't use my hood to reduce flare, but reduce hits tongue.gif). Build is superb although i could use more focus ring travel. All in all, for the range it gives, it's good lense.

Can also ketuk annoying dogs with it.

which type you want first? there are 2 diff types.. ori and knock-off.
The Canon Tripod Mount Ring A II (W) cost at least usd100 and the knock-off ones are around RM150 (sold at YL of course).

it's shares the same tripod collar with 300mm F4L
