QUOTE(davidmak @ Apr 14 2010, 09:50 AM) Don't think so bro. Maybe upgrade the software algorithm to enable higher speed like how it did from 3.6 to 7.2. I'll try to find out more about the tweaks those underground guys are doing. Maybe can shed some light into the topic. that will be great.. at least can shred some light on what is the benefit of the hacks/etc..too bad.. my company blocked all those sites as it's deem illegal.. |

QUOTE(davidmak @ Apr 14 2010, 10:11 AM) My company blocks too. But that why we get 3G modems can you share how you do it? i would like to use yr methods too.. at least i can still connect to the network while surfing those blocked site from my opera.I'm able to configure my browser to only use that 3G connection to limit exposure. So if I hit any websites or things that are blocked internally, I'll just take out my 3G modem. Of course, you do it discreetly. i hv 3 browser on my nb.. IE for work related stuff, firefox for personal browsing and opera for illegal stuff.. This post has been edited by shadow111: Apr 14 2010, 10:30 AM |

QUOTE(davidmak @ Apr 14 2010, 02:24 PM) I'm using Firefox. Go to Tools > Options > Network Tab > Settings > Set to No Proxy. Most companies uses a proxy server and they manage internal computer's access to the outside world. So you set to No Proxy so that it will just use whatever that is connected to the PC. i tested this methods, and cannot works wor.. But I seem to have a problem using this method because my company mail will stop coming. I tried setting the outlook to use IE's proxy settings, still no go. It seems to be confused when Maxis Broadband is connected. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. only way for me to use the maxis bb is to unplug my network.. this way, i cant receive any more mail/etc.. |

QUOTE(davidmak @ Apr 14 2010, 03:07 PM) Strange, it worked for me. Try a check one by one (settings for each browser) and which one is the default. will try again later... now playing around n try to create my own web proxy using google appspotAdded on April 14, 2010, 3:37 pm QUOTE(PootieTang_85 @ Apr 14 2010, 02:15 PM) i'm on 1.5gb package too.. i'm alrdy over my quota but just now i tested download from rapidshare n still able to get download at 130+KBpsThis post has been edited by shadow111: Apr 14 2010, 03:37 PM |

QUOTE(dyaf @ Apr 14 2010, 07:10 PM) Damn maxis, the 130Kbps is really low after capped. You have to remember that you start from 7200Kbps and you get capped till this low after exceeded only little bit after 1.5GB (1.73Gb right?) for me, as long as the connection is stable, i dun mind they throttle my speed to 128kpbs.So, effectively, you are paying RM48 for 130Kbps per month which the worst i suspected has happened. Added on April 14, 2010, 7:23 pm I think they would not dare to do that. 130kbps (kilobits per second) is already slow. It is about 130/8 = 16.83KB (kilo byte) per second like what your download speed is . Can still surf net and check mail lar but got other more attractive packages like U-Mobile RM68 for 5GB data volume and 384 Kbps after cap which is double the speed of 130Kbps. Or better, Wimax 5GB capped size with 400 kbps after capped which only cost RM49 per month. I guess Maxis 7.2 Mbps big hooha is just a gimmick and not so much different than other operator. no use hving the speed at 384kpbs or 400kpbs but cant surf the net at all. |

QUOTE(karheng @ Apr 15 2010, 02:32 PM) what you want to know about the Mobile Partner? any benefit of using mobile partner compare to maxis dashboard?1 thing i can share is i got Mobile Partner, also with Maxis Broadband dashboard installed in the laptop. I never upgrade firmware for Mobile Partner for my E1762, (don't want to take risk to upgrade firmware by myself ) I just use my friend modem (E220) which is bought outside ( not maxis ) to install the mobile partner dashboard. Found out when i use Mobile Partnet to connect, mylaunchpad will NOT launch the website automatically. Maybe you all can search from google where to download Mobile Partner which is support all huawei modem, should be able to use it to connect. Anyway make sure Maxis broadband dashboard is turn OFF auto launch application in the option, when you plug in the modem. Make the Mobile Partner to default dashboard to connect. |
