http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464141/ever since Pan's Labyrinth i've been trying to watch horror movies from spain. This one is quite good. It is a bit slow at the beginning (much like Pan Labyrinth) but the story picks up at the middle. some really good scare in the movie too. What i like about the movie is its not your typica crazy bloody ghost story. its more like a psychological horror. i would compare it to Allejandro Amenabar's The Others (hmm another spanish director.. i think i can see a trend here). You hardly see the ghost but still manage to creep you out!! i would recommend this film to all horror movies afficinados. i dont think it will be shown on cinema so happy hunting. here are some samples;

well they have subtitles. SRT files are good! but i am learning spanish as my fourth language. i love how melodious the language is.
Hellboy is one of my fav comic and the movie adaptation is better than most. yeah i cant wait for HB 2 as well. i will watch the movie because it's a Guillermo Del Toro movie. consequently El Orfanato was brought to the states by GDT. he is trying to push spanish language film in the USA. good for him.
i accidentally stumbled upon this film while discussing asian horror movies on IMDB. a spanish friend of mine recommended it to me.

how do you like the "1 2 3 Touch the wall" scene. that one creeps me out man. i have to cover my face!! HAHAHA. damns cary lah
the twist ending is kick ass as well. i think all horor movies now must have a twist ending to make it good. and this movie delivered it in spades!

i just donwloaded Devil Backbone ( dont blame me.. where can get the oro DVD on da cheap man! ). i think that movie is not as good as Orfanato. maybe because i like movies with a twist and that film has none. not that creepy too.
hm.. so Back bone and Orphanato is part of a trilogy eh? hmmm. maybe i could wait for a special boxset when all 3 is out in the cinema ( yeah right! you can't even get godfather trilogy in SPEEDY! mimpi la sorang2!)

QUOTE(takumin_86 @ Apr 18 2008, 06:26 PM) just watched it.. very nice movie. US horror movies sucks so much that I lost the appetite to ehem2 and watch horror movies but thank you Spain (and any other country than US) for bringing the faith back to me.. 4.5/5 stars p/s: I bet the Americans will make a remake version of this they love remakes. those thick Yanks don't like reading subtitles...so kena buat a remake in english same goes to REC another awesome spanish hotrror movie. the reamke it as The Quarantine. sobs! dont they have original idea anymore?
