some other users complaining 'bout R2.31:

QUOTE
Something must be wrong with Realtek High Definition Audio Driver R2.31.
I installed it on 2 systems (vista x86 + x64) and since then I have many Blue Screens.
Back to 2.30.

ur "more noise less bass" possibly due to high gain settings?

Which audio chipset are you using?

I updated on ALC889, I like this update. Positional audio seems better, no loss of bass or increased noise.
