Even so, AT&T and Apple will both have a record which iPhone (identify by IMEI & serial #) the account register to. Looking at this situation I suggest:
- Send to 3rd party that accept iPhone servicing. (not local sg wang handphone shop pls) - Get replacement part and DIY. - Try your luck, get someone in US to call AppleCare, hopefully they will arrange a pick-up or even a replacement unit. As I aware, iPhone is like iPod, Apple do not fix it on the spot and return to you, they will give you another unit, while they take time to repair your unit and pass it to someone else as their replacement. Looking at this situation I suggest: For people who lives in US, Apple will send a box containing an iPhone to be use temporary, then with the included box you can mail out your iPhone to them. After that, Apple will send your fixed iPhone to you and a box for you to put back the loaner iPhone and mail back to them. - Send to 3rd party that accept iPhone servicing. Oh yeah, buying Apple products in America is very worthy. Problems with product, if it's under warranty just hit to any Apple Store and show them. They'll immediately replace your unit with a brand new.
If the loaner unit is broken, we have to pay I guess. Don't worry about this though, I'm sure you will take good care of it. What I'm worrying is that, we have screen problem with our unit and we mail it to Apple. Apple send a loaner unit, and the unit's having the same exact problem, this what will piss me off. |

US has different market condition as ours. They have very high buying power and companies which offer very good after sales service will get a lot of sales usually. And competition as well.

Palm (even in Malaysia) used to have a similar policy for units requiring warranty claims. I've no doubt that once the iPhone is OFFICIALLY available here we'll see a similar support network.

QUOTE(Moonflown @ Mar 23 2008, 06:29 PM) US has different market condition as ours. They have very high buying power and companies which offer very good after sales service will get a lot of sales usually. And competition as well. actually it just us (asian countries in particular). we demand for the cheapest price possible and yet we expect the most back in return. anyone who works in the local IT line will understand precisely what im going about here. for example, the margin profit of a hdd is already so low, and yet we will still try to negotiate until rock bottom. but if there is something wrong with it (or faulty), we'll curse (and possibly some violent actions and shouting will exchange hands) non-stop.back in uk, yes you pay a premium when you purchase from big stores like currys, argos etc but they have a no questions asked policy. if you are simply not happy with your purchase for every forsaken reasons that you can think of, they will refund your money. even so, if its faulty. they will either ask if you would prefer a refund or replacement. all you need is your house or flat number with a postcode. best of all, the address doesnt have to be valid! i still remembered how cool the apple uk was. i bought the first gen ipod nano from them and im sure you know how easily it gets scratched. a couple days after receiving it, i found some superficial scratches (could be from them or could be self inflicted). i rang them up and the toll free number took me less than 5mins. they sent me a replacement to my doorstep and i just did an exchange the very NEXT day. no questions asked. ahhh... those were the days where i exercised my super kiasu malaysian mentality to the max! QUOTE(johnny82 @ Mar 24 2008, 10:09 AM) It is sad to see the mentality of the people in this country at that level, however we have to realize that people in the US and Europe have had decades, or maybe centuries to nurture a first world mentality. On top of that, there is the issue of money. It is easier to pay top dollar when you have a lot of dollars to begin with.Of course these are just my own excuses and there are first world countries with third world mentalities as well. |

Well don't make too conclusive judgement yet such as we're in third world country. That type of marketing plans just isn't suitable to our culture.

if the business plan doesn't work in this culture, then most definitely a Malaysian company like Machines would think about doing it...
eh you guys sometimes... if you have an idea... think it thru la, don't just throw it here. what has happened is that the people with the authority are not taking any of the ideas here seriously, because there's too many amateurs here, and they don't have enough time to separate the wheat from the chaff. |
