US has different market condition as ours. They have very high buying power and companies which offer very good after sales service will get a lot of sales usually. And competition as well.

actually it just us (asian countries in particular). we demand for the cheapest price possible and yet we expect the most back in return. anyone who works in the local IT line will understand precisely what im going about here. for example, the margin profit of a hdd is already so low, and yet we will still try to negotiate until rock bottom. but if there is something wrong with it (or faulty), we'll curse (and possibly some violent actions and shouting will exchange hands) non-stop.

back in uk, yes you pay a premium when you purchase from big stores like currys, argos etc but they have a no questions asked policy. if you are simply not happy with your purchase for every forsaken reasons that you can think of, they will refund your money.

even so, if its faulty. they will either ask if you would prefer a refund or replacement. all you need is your house or flat number with a postcode. best of all, the address doesnt have to be valid!

i still remembered how cool the apple uk was. i bought the first gen ipod nano from them and im sure you know how easily it gets scratched. a couple days after receiving it, i found some superficial scratches (could be from them or could be self inflicted). i rang them up and the toll free number took me less than 5mins. they sent me a replacement to my doorstep and i just did an exchange the very NEXT day. no questions asked.

ahhh... those were the days where i exercised my super kiasu malaysian mentality to the max!
