Well whichever way, that means iPhone is not maxis-friendly? meaning to avoid probs, users must now use other Telcos instead? I am a hotlink user btw.

Yes, DIGI.....always the smarter choice.
However, I'm still sticking to the not
so smart choice, Maxis. Hehe.
Just too much hassle to change

I don't know if u guys noticed this.. If u call a number and its engaged, the iPhone also displays "Call Failed"

I was in Macau and HK last month and I had none of these "Call Failed" problems while on their network. Used to think Maxis is the best but everyone I talk to seems to agree they're seriously slacking..but we can't just change provider, its too much of a hassle.

Totally cannot call out?! Not even a call? hmm.gif
Can receive calls, send sms? If all also cannot,
r u sure your's unlocked properly or not?

Most of the "Call Failed" problems Maxis users
face happen 'occasionally' only. Still can call out.

Happens everywhere or only in your house?
Anyway, if that happened only after u upgraded to 1.1.4,
maybe u should try restoring and re-do the whole
process all over again. Restore, Jaiilbreak, Activate, Unlock,
Appsupport..... blah blah blah.... then try again.

isn't it better to use iplus 2.0b instead of ziphone? heard that ziphone unlocking/activation/jailbreak methods are actually not reversible as opposed to iplus?

edit: by the way, i have this call failed problem as well. so there isn't anything we can do to solve this rite now? sad.gif

edit2:

Update:

Problem solved by turning "Call Waiting" & "Call Forwarding" OFF and "Send User ID" ON.

I had the problem 2 days ago. Everything seems to be working fine once the "Show My Caller ID" gets turned on.

Call failed will still turn up time to time, but usually a redial will make it go away smile.gif

Really hope this will solve the problem...
this has nothing to do with the line but its the phone problem.
most of u guys said this is a known bug from MAXIS, whereby occasionally you will get the 'call failed' problem but after try you will still able to get thu.
but this is different as it completely cannot call out no mattter how many times u try

Maxis punya "Call Failed" problem is only occasional and not
"Always" like yours. So, u'd better check other possible reason for it.

Yeah, I think like what ken_wickedboy mentioned, the problem is sometimes due to the location.

mine using Maxix post-paid, avtime making calls in my house (Seramban) there kind of breaks in between the conversations, n gurantees within 30mins sure will disconnect once... realli frustrated... sad.gif

so it's not due to iPhone then? it's Maxis tower? but i din face any problems when using O2 or SonyEricsson back then...

Not glitches. Malaysian cell tower are simply not prepared to support iPhone. Most cell tower are old/backdated and needed to be patched. Thankfully, cell towers do have a long range of reach, allowing our phone to toggle to another tower if it screws up smile.gif

Well ... even before using iPhone also i'm having this issue. Its Maxis capacity problem. They just patched the software in their towers to work with iPhone last year so i don't think it the tower problem. It maxis itself.

i have tried to reset the network setting and reboot . but it doesn't help...
btw, im using maxis ....
i'm turning on the 'caller id' now .. lets see if it is helping!!

HanXz,
you encountered this b4 as well ? how you solved it ?

you're not supposed to turn on Caller ID. If turned on, your call will fail. experienced this before and found the solution on the net.

just go to Settings>Phone>Show My Caller ID. Turn it OFF.

I had the "call failed" problem 2x already. I had to re-jailbreak in order to make it work. Anyway, today I found out this problem actually can easily overcome by going to setting > phone > show my caller ID > ON . I also found another tip says make sure setting > general > date&time : time zone set correctly. I hope this help. .

Iphone : 16GB
Firmware 1.1.4
Service provider : DiGi ( Always the smarter choice . . meh ? ) tongue.gif

the caller id should be set OFF, by default

tested with both my maxis and celcom sim card.

I'm using Digi and the caller ID is Off by default, so far didn't encounter any calling fail. I heard lot'sa Maxis user is having problem which either making calls or sms with the iPhone, not sure whether because of the Maxis Bandwith or the Sim Card problem but hopefully the next 3G unit don't have this problem.

restore 1.1.4 and re-zipone2.6. Do not back-up ! Everything fresh is a good to go. !

Arent we already have v3.0? but, better make a good choice coz there's plenty of good jailbreaker/unlocker out there..
