QUOTE(cybpsych @ Oct 1 2009, 03:32 PM) if the price and location is right, they can lock me 5 years also can. Time has good routing, have heard great stories about ping to USA is only slightly more than 100ms, sometimes loweri've been using Shitmyx for xx years now, so a little contract to have BETTER service is negligible at home use, i'm staying away from wireless broadband (WiMAX or HSxPA). i'm willing to sign 2 or even 3 years contract if the service remains that good although it's slightly more expensive than screamyx but i've calculated that in the long run i won't be using VPN or tflux anymore with Time so it's actually cheaper comparing to using screamyx 4mb + VPN / tflux screamyx always made me scream at it back in those days.... it's also so unstable.... U Mobile is not bad actually except for the throttle.... have to use a VPN to unthrottle it but i only get around 130kb/s with the VPN and not the full 200-300kb/s |

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Oct 1 2009, 07:27 PM) sigh what to do, it's a basic telco wireless broadband running on hsdpa. well they have sold off their 3G spectrum (license) to Digi and their mobile telco co to Maxis (017 used to be Time) so not much expansion they can do... maxis and celcom also face similar, if not all, issues as U Mobile. new joiner like Digi able to take advantage by offereing better-than-hsdpa. this is also with their low-profile strategy (= low customer in take, maintain network stability = better performance in long run) P1 is another story, so no point comparing it with telcos. Time's offering is very good actually, but it seems they've been stagnant within the 'selected' locations. darn! but since their entire backbone is fiber optics - from exchange to data centre so the speed is and not to mention the lack of customer base means more bandwidth for current users |

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Oct 8 2009, 08:00 AM) performance varies from place to place and density of users. well they don't enforce the FUP but they do enforce a bloody throttle!!!!!!!!more ppl using at an area, the more congested the traffic will be u're lucky to have such nice performance with 1 signal bar mine at home with 4 bars, but download at avg 2Mbps 'bout capping, UM have FUP in place (5GB) but it's not really enforced, yet (!). so, better enjoy the 'benefit'!! not suitable for a download junkie like me........ well i'm on another ISP now so U Mobile is just my backup and i use it on the go only for surfing only in klang valley i think no other ISP can beat U Mobile |

QUOTE(cybpsych @ Oct 13 2009, 05:51 PM) ya i need data on my phonei'll be getting a blackberry from my company anytime next week so thinking of getting data on my personal line QUOTE(vincent_on9 @ Oct 13 2009, 06:26 PM) they really don't cap at 5gb now??? vincent, beware of the throttlei m quite happy using their "surf with U" .cuz speed is fast, 2.4mb at my home!!.. and internet on the go at my phone anytime..hehe.. but their postpaid cost me lot...and bill delayed by one month i m using u38 plus "surf with U 68". Added on October 13, 2009, 6:28 pmi d actually switch my digi postpaid to U mobile postpaid and add the surf with U unlimited data plan. U Mobile will throttle u.... read my posts earlier... and about the billing, it's normal for the bills to be delayed. I went to the service centre and the guy there said in some cases the bill won't come in 3 or 4 months but it's better to go to the service centre to check and pay overall, i would say in klang valley for surfing on the go, U Mobile is among the best sadly it's not suitable for downloads though...... |

QUOTE(gwong @ Oct 15 2009, 10:54 PM) ZTE600 .. Ic... but that is too bulky for me.. Btw, its a cool way to share UM's fast connection! wireless connections are like that it's not stableBtw, I found that UM's speed is not consistent.. I downloaded a file around 150KB/s and above..then the next file it drop to less than 100KB/s ... I am wondering why.. and, pray hard the throttle has not been imposed on u... |

QUOTE(Alphawolf @ Oct 25 2009, 09:36 PM) HI all coverage map at U Mobile official website is a bit unclear...Thinking of applying the U Mobile broadband at the end of this week, but I am worried about the coverage and speed of my area (Taman Wawasan, Pusat Bandar Puchong). Anybody living here too? can give some advice? i suggest u call/email U Mobile customer service to confirm, and they do respond to emails unlike some other ISP's About the speed, it is quite consistent and good enough for browsing but if u're thinking of heavy downloading/torrents they will throttle your FTP downloads & torrents will get 3-5kb/s VPN is also not a good solution cuz the max u'll get is around 100kb/s only but on heavily seeded private trackers i'm getting 50-60kb/s only.... |
