u need to get the Premium RS account should u need to *abuse* the download speed as UM implement shared IP concept.
btw, UM also have the Fair Usage of 5GB per month as well (as same as other telco since it's a MCMC regulation)
just that UM have yet to enforce the rule  rclxms.gif

not yet...

but UM is "clever" as they only throttle my BT speed and not my surfing speed sweat.gif

my emule/bt speed is abt 40 kbps ( although there are full of seeders )

whereas my surfing speed is

hi digilife u mean fr 3.30 am - 9.00 am the dll speed will more stable and fast ?
*
yes , even now my connection max out at abt 120kbps for normal browsing and about torrenting, u can forget it cause it is snail pace at abt 1kbps, YES no joke

usually my connection will auto disconnect around 3.00am

then i will restart my pc after 10 mins and reconnect

after tat the speed for browsing can reach 1.3Mbps and bt abt 160kBps

From my understandings yes it is that way and probably U-Mobile did cap downloads during peak hours to make sure that no one hogs the bandwidth.
*
the funny thing is tat only torrenting and p2p are capped and normal surfing is free flow

even my speedtest now is achieve at "burst speed" , meaning the connection is slow BUT at a sudden burst my speedtest will register a high result

user posted image

frankly u-mobile's control on p2p is much better than celcom and i juz hope tat U wont cap users juz yet
i am testing it now and will break the 5GB limit pretty fast soon laugh.gif

*
proxy la bro

go goggle for how to setup proxy on your particular browser and also look for free proxy yourself as there are plenty up there

abt the cap, i ady downloded more than 5GB, but U still din enforce the cap yet cause there are still plenty of bandwidth available cause U din hav so much customers yet rclxms.gif

suiiiiiiii...
it's a trade secret... if not, everyone will jump into the UMobile wagon and the speed will be reduced... biggrin.gif
as i have said earlier, start your download after 3.30am for 'maximum' download speed
that's the true potential of the download speed that u can hv with UM (3.30am - 7.00am)

Added on February 17, 2009, 2:52 pm
i reckon it's coverage that contribute to this
those areas near to KL Town Center will have the max. speed as the signal towers are abundant there (with different hardware being installed as well)
main focus will always be given to KV areas
*
broo,

i am currently using my U connection in Seremban which is abt 60km fr midvalley
but my IP says tat i am in KL , which is similiar to wat Celcom did, use in Kl but IP based in Sarawak doh.gif

I was surprised with what some users can get especially digilife. Previously many commented that U-Mobile's service is really slow.
*
now U ady built more base stations and now ady expanded its 3G/3.5G to Ipoh and Seremban .

one thing u guys must knoe is tat its data only connection can only be used wif a USB Modem and Celcom ones can be used on a 3/3.5 G fon and a USB modem

u lucky b*stard... enjoying a decent speed at S'ban... biggrin.gif
my area kena blocked by a hill there and thus the signal was not good
else where, i'm a happy guy... smile.gif

UM Data Service can be used with normal 3G phone as well
just that u can't make call from the Sim Card
*
sure or not............. abt the sim cause when i slot my usim into my 3G fon, it shows sim card registration failed but it runs fine in my USB modem
maybe yours is tied your voice call ? or maybe mine is the new batch tat can only enable packet switch whereas yours is packet switch ( data only ) and circuit switch enabled

my speed now on a congested period behind a proxy
