I am using this U mobile broadband now.
I just started using it yesterday. The speed is quite ok for me. can go up to 80KBps when download files. The good thing is, it doesnt disconnect. I connected for 5 hours and the speed of it is quite constant.
I am living in tmn melati utama there.
So far is ok for me la... happy.gif
perhaps, the amount of users for this service is still very few, have to review again when the users amount become big sleep.gif

Yes!!! Unless you get written permission.
And in their faq, they said 3.6 is if there is not many users, and lastly their coverage is so limited. streamyx has a 60 ringgit plan without phone line rental now.

What I was informed from the people there, if you excess the 5Gb data limit, there will not charge you. Just that the bandwidth for you is reduced for the remaining days of the month.

Well, another thing which is good news for us, the officer there saying currently the 5Gb data limit rule is not yet enforced, so meaning for the time being its unlimited data usage. However, I not really believe it, have to see what will happen to my bandwidth if my data usage exceeds 5Gb tongue.gif

well as far as i know, there are 3 hsdpa providers right? Maxis, Celcom and this Umobile. Hopefully Umobile can survive long enough give some pressure to those 2 big giants. more competitions = better offer/service.

While the download speed is pretty ok, the upload speed is miserable. I'm staying in Taman Danau Desa and I was informed that my place has a 99.9% coverage. The speed fluctuates from around 100kbps to 500kbps. Sometimes I even obtained 1.1Mbps.

I agree that the speed is way below expectation. However, at 50-60kbps of upload speed, what can I do with it? I won't even be getting a decent voip.

Attached is the test I did at speedtest at 0037. Not really impressive.

i think for the time being. they are still new and they are desperate for funds for expansion and upgrades, that's why they are having this kind of promotion to attract more customers in order to sustain their early business startup.

I'm testing it right now. Havent activated yet. The agent told me need to wait for 3 working days. They also told me that U-mobile is using Celcom's facilities. If its true since Celcom is ok, U-mobile should be ok also rite? Well, lets see.

the contract is only to make u pay for the modem if u plan to cancel it. i believe for celcom, u need to buy that modem anyway.

aiyo, go and buy 3rd party data-card lah. why so difficult?

and 3rd party is pretty cheap, easy to upgrade firmware, can use in other country (esp. Sierra brand)

u doesn't offer a data only package at the moment. They're only interested in selling their wireless broadband service if you also get the modem from them. This is so they can tie you down into a 24 month contract. Any company practising these kinds of policies should be avoided, as it says a lot about their confidence in their own service shakehead.gif

After all, if they were so confident about the quality of their service, why not offer packages without restrictions?

Just got activated today. Will do the testing.

Called their call center, theres no 8mb maxxed for testing period(8days). Feel free to try torrents and stuff.

Added on March 18, 2008, 10:14 pmOk first day of use, the speed sucks at my place.

Tried speedtest.net and jaring bandwidth, its stucked for quite a long time. Shows that the speed is veryyyy slow.

I'm staying at Pusat Bandar Puchong btw. Maybe its my place. I'll try again tomorrow at Kelana Jaya.

Hmm... I can smell a refund.

Better option is to wait for Digi to get everything in place, than we should expect price war rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
