Let's have some discussion about DIGI counter here. I read with interest an article written by the DIGI CEO for TheStar.

Overlooking the Obvious

Seems the DIGI boss is not really that keen on 3G even though they recently acquired Time.Com for the 3G spectrum License.

Latest DIGI 4th quarterly results can be found here. Do note the date of that document is 5th Feb 2008, so it means we are reading some future event. haha biggrin.gif

Here is an summary of the management's expectations for 2008.

"These are the Group's revised growth targets for 2008:
. revenue growth at high single digit
. EBITDA margins at mid-40's
. PAT growth around 5%
. capex of RM850 million - RM1.1 billion"

Digi current price is really a bit high...this counter is one of my favourite as well, but the high price make me stop and choose another good counter.

Anyone can share Digi latest EPS, NTA and PE?

Latest EPS is 141.7 cents. So the PER should be about 16.23x for 2007.

Not too sure if the NTA is true for this year or not, but it shows only 1.977 per share according to OSK DIGI database.

Dividend for 2007 was total of RM1.744 per share including RM1.00 special dividend. Latest dividend announced has not set a date yet.

Personally think it is fairly price based on its lastest financial report. Upside potential is now depended on future earning growth.

NTA won't be high for Digi as it gave away lot of capital repayment previously, also, it gave away almost all of its profit as dividend annually so left not much in the company, so NTA won't be high.

It is the high dividend based on its profit that are supporting its share price.

For dividend stock, NTA won't be high as they gave away their profit as dividend so NTA won't be increasing. Best example is BAT, actually for this kind of stock, there are not much left in the company one, what matter the most is their ability to generate profit and cashflow to the company which in turn make the dividend yield attractive enough.

Don't bother about NTA too much in this kind of stock. It is the EPS matter the most.

Got it. Normally I don't follow NTA because I think there is no actual way of evaluating NTA properly especially if the company is property heavy.

So far DIGI has been growing about 5-7% every quarter in terms of revenue and net profits. With the expected capital expenditure for 2008 for rolling out their 3G services, I'm expecting their dividends to fall. I don't think their new share issue for the acquirement of Time.Com is enough to fully pay for the roll-out.

Huh!!! EPS and ROE of Digi is really high...based on these, it should be a good share.

To roll out 3G services, Digi sure need more capital for it, and it's expected Digi will compete with Maxis and Celcom to get more 3G subscribers.

Now, Digi is less than RM23, so sad currently have not enough money to buy.

just wondering, why is DIGI price hurt so badly? is it because the shares mostly owned by FF? FF cash out, making the price drop drastically? unsure.gif

Actually the sell down for DIGI is not so drastic. Biggest seller was only 1k lots. But I would think it might drop some more to about RM21 maybe. It's falling because there aren't any buying yet and the sentiment is more downfall.

DIGI as far as I know not involve in any politics other than the TIME.com share deal for the 3G license.

Yup, because the buyers guessed the market still heading downwards. Only when the up swing come then DIGI will go up again when buyers start queuing. No point queue now because it only be triggered very quickly. I think maybe people are queuing very low price like RM20 or RM19. This is like a net to catch those people throwing stocks!

Uhmmm this thread is to discuss DIGI counter in the Bursa stock exchange. Maybe you can bring it up in the Telecommunication Forums for their service enquiries?

DiGi 2Q net profit up 19.2% to RM298m

KUALA LUMPUR: DiGi.Com Bhd posted net profit of RM298.39mil for the second quarter ended June 30, an increase of 19.2% from the RM250.32mil a year ago.

Announcing a stronger set of earnings Tuesday, it also declared an interim dividend of 57 sen single-tier exempt dividend per share.

Its revenue rose 12.8% to RM1.19bil from RM1.05bil while earnings per share was 38.9 sen, an improvement from 33.4 sen a year ago.

For the first half, its net profit increased 18.5% to RM588.53mil from RM496.32mil while revenue rose 13.8% to RM2.36bil from RM2.07bil.

Commenting on the second quarter results, it said the higher revenue was due to the larger subscriber base and higher average revenue per user. However, earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) decreased to 46.7% (2007: 47.4%), resulting from higher traffic charges.

DiGi said the capital expenditure for 2008 was anticipated at around RM850mil to RM950mil compared with the earlier estimate of RM850mil to RM1.1bil, due to increased visibility of the 3G and mobile broadband investments for the year.

Sterling second quarter for DiGi

It remains the preferred telecoms pick of research houses

PETALING JAYA: DiGi.Com Bhd, which announced another set of sterling results yesterday, remains the “preferred’’ telecoms pick of some research houses as it offers greater upside than the other two listed telcos, Telekom Malaysia Bhd ™ and TM International Bhd (TMI).

An analyst in his recent sector update maintained a “neutral” call on the sector as it offered defensive earnings amid an uncertain economic backdrop.

Affin Investment Bank said the cellular sector would continue to grow but the residential fixed line market would see a margin erosion. “We advocate avoiding the fixed line segment altogether.

We see increasing risk not only from lower tariffs but also intensifying residential fixed line drop-outs as alternative broadband solutions materialise,” it said.

To support its argument that the fixed line business would be flat, the report cited the experience of several regional operators such as KT Corp, China Netcom, Chunghwa and China Telecom.

Fixed line revenues of these players were flat or declining, but this was being compensated by other revenue streams, including wireless services. In TM’s case, however, it has transferred its cellular assets to TMI.

The revenues of these companies were flat in recent years and “TM will likely share a similar fate,’’ it said.

Even Ericsson, the world’s largest maker of wireless networks, expects demand for wireless and fixed line telephone networks to remain flattish this year. This means that operators are not buying equipment for fixed line expansion.

Ericsson yesterday announced a 70% drop in its second quarter profit due to factors such as lower demand for phones (See page 10).

As for TMI, the analyst cautioned about TMI’s regional operations, particularly in politically unstable countries such as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, as growth had been crimped.

Overpaying for regional expansion had also not gone down well, especially its recent acquisition of a 19% stake in Idea Cellular.

“We keep our 'reduce' rating on TMI as we see Celcom’s market share, and hence earnings, being threatened by DiGi,” the report said.

“For exposure, we like DiGi which we anticipate will continue to build its market share at the expense of its peers, post the launch of its broadband services.

“Underpinned by strong management, improving network coverage, quality and branding, DiGi is expected to record a decent earnings growth of 13% for financial year 2008. Likewise, dividend yields are above market average at 5.6%,” Affin said.

There is talk that the implementation of mobile number portability (MNP) may be further delayed. Nonetheless, it felt that DiGi would still be the winner in an MNP environment.

DiGi reported a 19% rise in net profit to RM298mil for the quarter ended June 30 from a year earlier. Revenue rose from RM1.05bil to RM1.19bil. Earnings per share was higher at 38.9 sen from 33.4 sen before.

For the first six months, net profit was up 18% to RM588mil from RM496mil previously. Revenue increased 14% from RM2.07bil to RM2.36bil.

DiGi said the higher earnings were led by higher traffic following the introduction of innovative services and offerings. It declared an interim dividend of 57 sen.

Digi is the best telecommunication company in Malaysia, absolutely remarkable business model. Not only it has the cheapest rate for international calls, but also one of the most innovative prepaid plans ever compare to Hotlink and Xpak.

One of the best defensive stock in Malaysia.

Digi closed at 23.90 today. With dividend of RM 2.00++ last year. I think this price is quite reasonable. Nobody know the lowest price. I think digi profit will not affected much by the current market as it is not political link. Every body still have to make calls no matters how high the crude oil rise. It is one of the top pick at current market i think. If for me i will wait till it drops to RM 20.00 which give you some margin of safety.

DiGi weighs funding needs

It is to part finance capex of RM1.3bil next year

DIGI.COM BHD will need to go to the debt market next year to get some funding for its capital expenditure of up to RM1.3bil next year, says chief executive officer Johan Dennelind.

Digi's revenue has consistenly out performed her last previous quster. In term of evaluation, the present market value is fair. But in future, upon intro of 3G, the company strength is at par with other telco. Futhermore the swithing (MNP) provide great chance to seduce those 019 and 012 user to switch to them. If you are looking at the future, the profit might rise further and share price might go up somemore.

To get involved in 3G, Digi needs lot more Capex. It takes a couple of years to break even.

It is not so simple as expecting instant good return. In fact, at the initial , a big portion of 2G profit is to cover 3G losses.

It is always the opposite of what people think.

not just 3G, it has to be 3.5G or better coz i'm using umobile & getting 2000++ kbps (RM68/mth drool.gif ) vs digi's edge 237kbps (RM66/mth rclxub.gif ) comparison -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS-TDD

they should charge RM6-8/mth for unlimited data or else i'm MNP porting to 018 when my contract with digi ends next year's june

i personally do not like DIGI share. If u like dividend base counter, buy BAT. Now it is the time to KPJ HEALTHCARE BHD., good for long term investment.

RM18? Yeah during financial crisis in November 08 and that only for a week only. Unless there is another bad bad news, it is hard to go back to this price.

I think rm20-22 is reasonble at the moment.

After the split, Digi's EPS would be approx 0.15 cents.
Share split has nothing to do with operations expansion.
The aim is the make price more affordable by increasing the number of shares a holder previously has.
With an EPS of 0.15cts, can it shoot up to RM30 ???
Whether the company would continue to perform, only time will tell. Recently, I cut off my mobile broadband line with Digi. From an average speed of 1.2Mbps, the average speed is now 0.75Mbps. It took me ages to reach a webpage. As a result, I switch to UMobile which is not listed.

Assuming it distribute all its profit of EPS of 0.15cents, the dividend would probably in the region of RM150 for a full year if u own 1000 shares

don't talk rubbish/nonsense la.
I'm old man in this market, so your statement is valid as at today. Come the CRASH, you will also scared until your backbone shivers when wanna click the BUY button. Mostly its about FEAR. It may goes down more after you click the BUY as nobody knows where is the BOTTOM of it.

The last TRUE scenario was 1st week of OCTOBER. Where were you then? DID you click buy?

I know I did but in small quantities.

aiyo, dun call me sifu.. sifu is Warren Buffet

YTL is different ball game. Its utility company, profit margin is so thin.

DIGI is an international company, not local. Things are different. That's why my TP for DIGI is nearing RM4.00 (or RM40 if you use old pricing)

DIGI technical outlook update.

3.45 is pivot point.

Preference: the upside prevails as long as 3.45 is support.

Alternative scenario: below 3.45, buying point 3.33 and 3.26.

Comment: the RSI is above its neutrality area at 50. The MACD is positive and above its signal line. The configuration is positive. Moreover, the stock is above its 20 and 50 day MA (standing respectively at 3.43 and 3.21).

This scenario is almost the same like 2008.When the people think the market will crash but it continue goes up and make new high.
When the people think the market is bullish then suddenly market crash.

For me....I just follow the trends.

However,I believe the market will make a huge correction within six month period and your patience will be paid off sooner or later.
If we base on cyclic pattern the market will crash around 2015-2016.

If there is a huge correction,it's a good opportunity to buy.

Problem is of now their CS is getting worse. The service is also deteriorating. Hopefully their plan to upgrade network starting from recently till the end of next year which includes implementation of LTE will improve and strengthen the nationwide coverage

Thanks.

I only know Redtone has good prospect with this LTE.

But then U mobile is promoting 42mps wireless through 3G plus too ?

So Umobile is not the first to have LTE ?

Sori for my nobody Q notworthy.gif

Things about news is like one year after another, so the first one looked like fake, second one is too recent/final ?

Smaller blocks not nationwide , right ?

Away from KL, I noticed their broadband getting slower and slower. It is no match for UMobile. Maxis, I do not know because I am not using Maxis. I switched from Digi to UMobile n found UMobile great !!!

I think Digi is losing Data market fast, but lately they package with Samsung Galaxy 2, and selling well.

Again, this would not give a better service in term of speed.

Erm Umobile is HSPA+. That's 3.5G not LTE. LTE is suppose to be able to support voice and data together. You can surf the net while having a video call or something like that.

About the news, I think got many around just those 2 are the major ones.

my bro-in-law received a phone call from maxis today notifying him that his monthly data limit has been upped to 5gb from 3gb for the same package ... seems like digi has succeeded in taking more market share away from them (for samsung s2 and note) ... hope this will lead to good quarter results and more room upwards! wink.gif

With a 75% payout, it is considered one of the highest. Buying the stock now may not yield as much immediately, but over time, the dividends will slowly lower your ABP with each payout. On top of capital appreciation, it'll be a high yielding stock for you.

What i looking at is the support and resistance line and draw a center line between these two. In addition, i also looking at the selling volume trend where it shows positive gradient. The price it seems to be above the center line i drawn and near resistance line.
Above is my opinion. Kindly correct me if my method is wrong.

You are using greed and fear lines which could be misleading if we don't really understand especially in bullish trend.
Overbought simply means a price has rallied too far too fast. It has nothing at all to do with absolute levels.
As for me..no word of overbought in my dictionary in uptrend rather than profit taking and you look at gold as an example.
Gold was 'overbought' since 800 on Daily,Weekly and Monthly chart but the price keep on rising until now.

So..I only looking at momentum to determine the price movement which is more easier and accurate.

1st half of 2012 should be safe, but, 2nd half be carefully.

today price hit 4.11 already, still hold or sell out ?

Added on February 3, 2012, 11:59 pmDigi suffured from new China 3G equipment supplier , caused digi broadband got a lot of problems recently. Because this supplier lack of experience to 3G environment.

They will change back to huawei soon to upgrade 5000 based station in Malaysia within this year.

IMHO, I saw the momentum is still high, so it will still go higher. I am more focus on their dividend yield and long term earning so at the moment I will hold for several quarter. IMHO, DIGI is still a good share to hold. Of course, this is my opinion, you may have otherwise as there are so many sifu out there and I am not one of them ;p

Maybe that is the reason why its broadband is disappointing. From an average speed of 1.2mbps, its average speed is now 750Kpbs. But in the meantime, other telcos like UMobile has move far ahead.

IMHO Digi got potential to scale up more. Maxis is at 5.80 now. Digi should be able to break RM 5 at least.

This is based on the aggressive moves by the company to upgrade its equipment to 4G/LTE-ready by end of 2012.

So i am still holding on.

I think its healthy like this, up down up down. When up we sell when down we buy. wink.gif. I'm not sure where i read, but it said once support level broken it can go further down or rebounce.

So, if you go for long term investment, why not?

HLB should have stated on the reason EPF selling it as if the company is going to collapse.

Then says "hold".

I wonder how the current Digi network problems will impact on Digi's prospects.
Digi's 3G network is problematic n they are shifting to 4G. Upgrading to 4G network have created a lot of problems for its subscribers.
I am also being affected for not being able to call or receiver calls at home. Yet I have to pay the monthly bill for nothing.
A lot of customers have already changed to another telco. Digi says it will take 30 days but who can wait for 30 days? By the time everthing is normal, Digi would have suffered extensive brand damage.

In the town area, its network is not affected. But out of town, the line is totally cut off. I was at the same shop in my area with a businessman who is changing telcos. Well, he said "who can wait for 30 days without line...tutup kedai"
Digi just remained silent and pretend nothing happens.

From my observation, comparing with last year Feb-Mar, all fundamental sound shares have been jacked up, whether investor confidence or foreign funds come in except Genting and PPB. Plus EPF owns a lot of Digi shares, they suka suka sell suka suka buy, normally selling lower price, buy in higher price... which maybe their professionals have their own calculations that normal human being like me wont understand.

Bought around RM4+- those levels. Still thinking should take capital gain or just hold and collect dividend. Today read most of the financial house their reports say hold.
Maybank, OSK. So doesnt look too good for Digi in the future.
Which also can be true, they are providing not so decent service lately.

just hold and keep dividend each quarter lar ...

you sell now sure you will buy other stock at higher price.

only consider to sell if GE announce and digi drop below the support.

and buy back lower.

Digi (Neutral, TP: RM5.59): Eyes 30% growth in online store shopping. Digi.com aims to grow its online business by 30% this year, mainly driven by the increasing trend of online shopping among consumers. Its online store, DiGi Store Online, allows customers to buy new mobile devices for their existing plans, sign up to a new plan and reload prepaid airtime, among others. DiGi Store Online was first unveiled in April last year, but it was only late last year when a full range of services were available.

Wow, all expect DIGI to give Good Dividends like REITS on quarterly basis.

But then, the " tax" jumps a lot this Q, kinda year end adjustments.

Depreciation is not cash. It's better to look at its EBITDA, cash flow and ARPU.

One company's loss of revenue is another company's gain. Digi's network has been facing problems all along. I can still recall the time when I cannot call or receive any call or sms from my house. Digi's said it is due to network upgrade. This lasted for one month during which time many users have already switched to other telcos as a backup. When the backup telco is performing well, customers may just switch away from Digi. If the brand does not live up to its promise, it is wise to switch to another brand.

I own some Digi shares but I intend to cut off my Digi line when my contract expires in Sept 2013. As for Digi broadband I have already cut it off because it is non-performing. I am now using UMobile broadband

It is good in my area. I used to pay RM158 to Digi for 16GB data. Now I am paying UMobile RM128 for 20GB data and is fast. No such problem like being unable to reach Facebook website. I believe it is very much better now since UMobile shares network with Maxis. But that said, it is better to ask your friends living near you and who are using UMobile for confirmation.

Digi shares under selling pressure since early Jan 2013. Looks like there will be more selling as poor fundamentals and uninspiring last Q result will drag it down further.

Hi
DIGI is at the support line (4.50) means that it can bounce back or it can just break the support and move to the next support ( around 3.90 )
to buy now is a bit higher risk but as the saying goes no risk no gain. ( should manage the risk closely by cutting loss below 4.50)
As for me the problem is more on the timing with the GE just around the corner add to the risk.

Thanks bros for the advice. I saw the support of rm 3.90 and rm 4.50. I'm also looking at volume as its a very active stock. Another reason is I plan to keep this longer than the contra period smile.gif

better than last quarter.
You are accountant. attach the Financial report, check what the purpose the gearing so high.
EPS 2012 arnd 15sen. Forecast 2013 EPS 22sen becoz deaccelerated depreciation.

With current price 4.68 and dividend pay-out policy to at least 80%

This my forecast
DPS 2013: 22sen * 80% = 17 sen
Frecast 2013 yield = 17sen / rm4.64 = 3.7%.

Attach Allianz IB and Digi 2012 Annual report.

My forecast base on Allianz IB.
I need to see other IB report and havent read complete the Reports.

I read at Financial report DIGI Annual Report 2012 page 25.
gearing ratio 2012 at 4.1
*
If I were not mistaken, the commonly used formula for Gearing Ratio is:
Gearing Ratio = Debt/Total Assets

Now,
Assets = Liabilities + Shareholders' Equity

Since debt (long term borrowings + short term borrowings) is part of liabilities, Gearing Ratio can't be bigger than 1.
But Debt/Equity Ratio can be bigger than 1, which is common among capital intensive firms.

The question is: What is the formula for the Gearing Ratio used in DiGi's report?

if u google it, there are many different interpretations for this ratio.

For me, I'd calculate it as Total Debts / Total Assets

so.. gearing ratio is the bigger picture. debt Ratio (Total Debt/Total asset) is a subset of the gearing ratio.

That's why it's always better to define the formula used to reduce misunderstandings, so many different formulas for most of the ratios. When my company submit financial ratios to potential clients or bankers, we always define the formula used to calculate the ratios. smile.gif

DiGi already pays 80-90% of its net profit as dividend. Setting up business trust doesn't make a lot of difference, right?

Have to study its financial statements, see whether 80-90% of earnings > opearing cash flows or the other way round.

If dividend payout % becomes higher, it may mean that management is foreseeing slowing growth and/or need for capital investment, which may not be a good thing.

Digi apparently become the cash cow of Nortel. Their dividend is used to invest in somewhere else. 98% of net profit from last quarter is paid as dividend!

It said that apart from the "business trust" consideration, Digi is already fully valued. In the near term, Digi's EPS is not expected to improve much.

From InsiderAsia today: .."due to the company's limited reserves (following bumper dividends and capital repayments over the past years), dividend payments are capped to annual earnings."
Digi's EPS for 2013 is expected to be around 20.5 cents.
"...Note that should Digi adopt a business trust, the total dividends payable would likely exceed our existing estimates.."

All in all, bumper dividends & capital repayments are things of the past. I think its price would stay around the present price of 4.60.

There are two types of LTE - FDD (frequency division duplex) & TDD (time division duplex).

Will DiGi's future LTE network be FDD or TDD?

Why Digi past dividend so high before 2012+?
Profit is increasing but EPS is decreasing.

DIGI's dividend payout ratio is always more than 100%.

DPS and EPS decreasing because change of number of outstanding shares.

I don't think it's worth buying now, which is why I posted that I just sold off all of mine. Just too expensive now. Of course, I could be wrong and maybe some news will come out which will cause its price to shoot up. But this is just based on what we know currently.

need money to buy...DIGI pocket so deep...buy from who and how much..still cant justify the business gain.

When Digi is RM 5.50.. Maybe they will come out with the report..
Now nothing coming out from their mouth one, except faster buying back their own warrants first.. Lol

Coverage I think little difference. Areas covered by P1 are also covered by Digi.
What Digi wants is the spectrum...
But will Digi buy P1, or simply collaborate with the latter just like the case of Maxis-Redtone?

LTE - both have to start from scratch. But since Digi (and P1) already got base stations nationwide, all they need to do is to install new equipment.
OTOH, if Digi hasn't got base station in certain area, it will have to negotiate with a property owner to build one on the rooftop of the building. That can be a lengthy process.

Not too sure about LTE but it seems they might need more of the other bandwidth as they are short on those instead of LTE which they just rolled out.

Assuming Digi buys P1's LTE spectrum. Together Digi would have 40 MHz. But still short of what Celcom & Maxis have (both have collaborated with others resulting in 60MHz).
The better way is to collaborated & compete with each other.

Malaysia's Khazanah to sell DiGi stake -term sheet

Malaysia's state investor Khazanah Nasional Bhd is selling up to 293.5 million ringgit ($92.02 million) worth of shares in mobile phone operator DiGi.Com Bhd, according to a term sheet seen by Reuters on Tuesday.

The shares are being priced at a range between 4.80 and 4.97 ringgit per share, the sheet shows, representing upto 3.4 percent discount to the closing price of 4.97 on Tuesday.

The deal will see Khazanah cease to be a shareholder in the country's third largest mobile phone operator, which is controlled by Norway's Telenor.

DiGi 3Q profit up 42% to RM449m, pays 5.7 sen dividend

DiGi.Com Bhd reported a 42% rise in third quarter net profit from a year earlier on higher revenue and lower depreciation and amortisation.

In a statement to the exchange today, DiGi.Com said the mobile telecommunication network provider's net profit rose to RM448.71 million in the quarter ended September 30, 2013 (3QFY13) from RM315.37 million. Revenue climbed to RM1.7 billion from RM1.58 billion.

DiGi said net profit had increased on "higher qualifying last mile tax incentive claims and tapered accelerated depreciation on final completion of the network modernisation."

"With the modernised network and wider 3G coverage, DiGi will be in a better position to ride on the growth momentum to achieve its revenue guidance albeit pressure on top line margins due to higher handset bundles demand," DiGi said.

Cumulative 9MFY13 net profit was higher at RM1.16 billion versus RM960.19 million a year earlier. Revenue increased to RM5 billion from RM4.73 billion.

DiGi plans to pay a tax-free dividend of 5.7 sen a share for the quarter in review.

DiGi’s Albern Murty takes on COO role

DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd unveiled a refreshed organisation structure and senior management line-up, which will see Albern Murty taking the role as chief operating officer (COO).

Albern, who is currently the chief marketing officer, will take on the new role with effect from Jan 1, 2014.

Christian Thrane, currently chief strategy & corporate affairs Officer (CSCAO), will be DiGi’s new chief marketing officer (CMO).

DiGi will have an enhanced focus on driving its sales, distribution and channel management functions under a new division with Loh Keh Jiat, currently head of channels & regions, lead this new division.

DiGi said the new structure would take it into the “next phase of its transformation, fuel future growth by ensuring deeper business and customer focus, and drive stronger cohesion throughout all parts the organisation”.

RHB is pessimistic over the future of telcos. What say you?

telco - TP
Digi - 4.10
Maxis - 5.90
Axiata - 6.55

QUOTE
Positive data trends; OTT usurping SMS. Across the four telco markets that we cover, the strong growth in data usage and traffic continued unabated. However, the rising usage of over-the-top (OTT) applications is hurting legacy voice revenues with traditional SMS as the new whipping boy. Telcos continued to find pricing data a challenge which should pressure service revenues. In Singapore, the initial ARPU uplift from tiered data plans appeared to be waning as data users are increasingly cautious on usage.

In the absence of something 'big', I do not think the telcos can drop to those levels except Axiata. If something big really happens, all other stocks would also drop like shit, not only telcos.

DIGI yielding <5%...if growth were to become muted, it'd be behaving like REITs, purely yield play. In that case, investors would want min. 5-6% DY hmm.gif

@ 4.80 DiGi TTM Pe 26x.. dy 3.5%

Still showing relatively good growth... but the price now got not much upside already... wink.gif

The good dividend in 2012 i believe is one off, as it is paying > earnings which is not sustainable.

It's already down from recent highs.

U know me...not looking at growth, just >FD rate income returns.

Let's assume a RELATIVELY sustainable 90% payout on projected core EPS for 2013, should get 3.9% yield.

But with tapering and competition of telcos...what u think?

MGS10Y already hit 4.15% this morning.. will 3.9% be able to compensate? The world is looking for higher yield now compared to when MSG10Y yield was about 3.2%. hmm.gif

Kesimpulan - NEGATIVE

Ok sweat.gif

But...but...my finance studies tell me that DY should always be lower than bond yield cos stocks got capital appreciation and earnings upgrade whereas bonds are stagnant i.e. pays fixed coupon unsure.gif

Blame it on MCMC for giving out so many 4G LTE licenses. I think it will be tough for the big 3 in the next few years...

Ample growth catalysts for DiGi in 2014 and beyond, says Affin IB

Business & Markets 2013
Written by Ahmad Naqib Idris Adzman Shah of theedgemalaysia.com
Wednesday, 11 December 2013 10:59

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 11): Affin Investment Bank Bhd has maintained its Buy rating on DiGi.Com Bhd at RM4.84 with an unchanged target price of RM5.39, due to various catalysts for growth in 2014 and beyond.

“In the year ahead, we believe that DiGi will deliver another year of revenue growth in the mid single digit magnitude,” said Affin IB in a note Wednesday.

The research house said the group’s growth will be underpinned by growth in its postpaid segment, data segment and LTE service. However, Affin IB added that the impact from the LTE service will come later rather than sooner.

Ahead of 2014, the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) in 2015 will have a positive effect on DiGi’s revenue, as it allows telco operators to pass down the 6% tax to users, which is currently absorbed by operators.

“With 65% of revenue derived from the prepaid segment, DiGi stands to be the best beneficiary from GST,” said Affin IB.

Affin IB projects DiGi’s net profit to rise 16% in 2014, from 33% in 2013, barring any accelerated depreciation charges after its network modernisation programme is completed.

“DiGi remains our preferred pick for the sector given its growth and dividend element.

“Its improving 3Q/LTE coverage and network quality will put DiGi on a more level playing field,” said Affin IB.

Ok, grabbed DeeGee at 4.84. Of the many research houses covering it that are available publicly, I think TA has the lowest TP of 5.10. Hope that all the research houses were right sweat.gif

Even if price going nowhere, 4% dividend yield with mid-single digit growth, ok lar not too bad sweat.gif

I bought a batch, but I'm ready to buy another batch should it drop by 10%. If drop less than 5% I don't bother.

Wanted a Telco stock in my portfolio, DIGI is my pick.

But bear in mind, it MIGHT not drop to the price that u want to enter.

Hence I buy in a batch to get started, at least if it did not drop but started to run away toward RM5+ I'm already in the boat.

If it drops, nice, I will accumulate more to lower my cost per share.

But Maxis has 7500 tower sites which it can hive off into a new outfit owned by industry players & the public. It could monetize its investment & bring back the cash. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Not necessary.. they have secured spectrum sharing with celcom recently.. BUT they have to spend more on towers as 4G spectrum needs tower density to be 2x of 3G. Digi has one of the weakest tower coverage of all the telco's.

Currently they are squeezing 120% from their existing towers... but when they have to bite the bullet to add towers, can say bye bye to the generous dividend already.

I just read DiGi's quarterly results...
The quarterly EBITDA only increases by 7% y-o-y. The sharp rise in earning is mainly due to depreciation and amortization.
Net cash from operating activities is slightly down.

DIGI Analysis:-

http://lcchong.wordpress.com/2014/02/07/di...sis-7-feb-2014/

My View:-

- Fair values:
– 5Y DCF: 4.84 – 5.53
– EY%: 4.02 – 4.37
– Absolute PE: 4.36 – 4.73
– DY%: 3.45 – 3.74
- All models indicate that DIGI is either overvalued or fully valued.
- The outperformance of 4Q13 was mainly due to lower-than-expected depreciation and taxes. I am not sure whether this is something recurring for long term.
- With Internet subscribers increased by 14.5% and blended ARPU increased by a modest 2.1% to RM48, I am quite positive with DIGI future prospects.
- However, I believe that DIGI is currently fully (or nearly) valued.
- The last time I accumulated DIGI was in Jul 2013 at 4.66. Thus, I won’t accumulate DIGI for the time being.

Latest Financial – Q4 2013 Financial Report (6 Feb 2014) http://www.bursamalaysia.com/market/listed...cements/1532993

At the time of writing, I owned shares of DIGI.
