Wah, version 2! Balik Redang suddenly all this happened.
ianho: Great comparison of direct versus bounced flash!
By the way,
J-One of Amcorp Mall has stock of Tamron 2x teleconverters for Minolta/Sony mount. The Sony 50mm F1.4
is better than the Minolta 50mm F1.4, which has old coatings and is prone to internal reflections. I often find a blue flare in the middle of my shots when pointing at a black object on white paper. The Minolta 50mm F1.7 is not prone to this. Got budget? Go for the Sony 50mm F1.4.
If a F1.4 gives 1/40, the F1.7 will give 1/25 in the same situation. It's 2/3rds of a stop (to visualize this, change to S mode and roll the dial 2 clicks to the left.) Personally I need the F1.4 because I always shoot in such conditions where 1/40 will freeze some motion but 1/25 will be too slow.
ADI only works when the flash is pointed directly forward. When you turn the F36 to bounce, it automatically sets the mode to TTL since it can't tell what's the distance from the flash to ceiling to object anymore.
ka3tr0: The Sony 11-18mm F4.5-5.6 DT has relatively low distortion and will do archictecture well. It also works on full-frame at 14-18mm which is a bonus if you get a film Minolta SLR. The Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 is good too but it might be harder to find. It's better if you only have one Sony digital SLR and don't intend to get a full-frame one later.
kelvinyam: I found a compatible angle finder in Leos Trading, Ampang Park.
The A350 has 2.5 FPS without LV, the A300 has 3 FPS without LV.
The A300/A350 is the only Live View solution that can do AF-C (focus tracking) in Live View. Interesting.
Ahmike: Yes, that's exactly when LV will come in handy - for the times when you want a random person to take your picture.
goldfries: Yes, that is my Peleng 8mm circular fisheye. Nice shot!
vikingw2k: Uh, why do you bring your battery charger, cleaner, blower etc? Wouldn't one extra battery be enough for a day's shooting, assuming you know beforehand that you will return to 'base station' ie. home to charge it after the shoot?
JAYworm: I like the cat picture! Nice colors. The Sony 50mm F1.4 is RM1300 in Sg. Wang.
Eiraku: I like the drop! Particularly like the last photo; 2nd one won't load.
The F36 looseness is normal as long as the flash icon appears when it is on, and there is nothing to worry about. If the flash icon does not appear and you shoot, it may fire at full power or nothing at all.
Ranceed: The Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 is a good buy. Make sure it has good focusing and it will be sharp.
nic_chm: You can afford to underexpose the moon just a bit - the first one could be shot at 1/160s F4 ISO200 (ISO200 is the A700's base sensitivity.) Also, wait for a nearly-full moon and you can get the craters and texture of the moon.
ewin: I'm jealous! Where'd you get the 2x2x2?
pky: The eyepiece cover is only for long exposures on a tripod when you're shooting stars in the sky. Light can come in from the viewfinder and will show as a purple strip because your eye is not there LOL.
amadeo: SonyStyle USA dates and prices may or may not apply here. For example, they just got the Sony A200 but we've had it a long time already.
Soony: I suggest you start going to the Sony Style in KLCC starting this Monday and keep checking every Monday. SERIOUS!
