Your new HDD is slighyly faster than mine AAKS,i got about average 80mb/s if not mistaken.Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 seems like not bad.

I guess it will be having some different. No really sure although,between you have a very nice HDD. If run at RAID-0,the speed should be near to SaTA1 full speed or maybe more.

@fylon,guess is your Sata 2 controller + 32MB cache on the hdd boosts your HDD performance.Awaresome performance increment but a bit wasted if you are treating it as a media storage only.

@fylon,what's the advantages of using ACHI mode?I do not know about this ACHI functions than OS driver driven SATA.You screamyx so fast? Hope i can get constant speed as yours too!

@fylon,just now i did some research on ACHI too!Hehe,not really understand the real practical and perfromance as not experience with it before. Something about NCQ and hot plug.The NCQ only avaliable on MCH6 and onwards.

@fylon,hot plug devides so good and convinient.Just need to plug or unplug when needed After NCQ enable,your reading speed of the HDD increses?

Silverstone ST56F is a recommended PSU. THeir 12v and 3.3v supply gives you a satisfy performance.

Boss,see your thread letting go your 80GB HDD. Now HDD price are ganas. Super cheap!

S478 with DDR2 and PCI-E ? A nice jump from AGP.

I know the P4 2.4GHz HT with be shitting in 3D mark 06.Thus no point to run for CPU test. I believe the P4 Gallatin can make a difference form the normal chips.

@fylon,2.4GHz with HT ?Just can't believe that it's still so responsive to so many system.On the HDD side,upgrade it to SATA. Thanks on the feedback on 3D mark 06,i believe the P4 Gallatin might be able to acheive another 300 points like that as the L3 cache is useful on this benchmark.Thanks for providing feedback.

@fylon,yes that's indeed a good utilization on the P4 2.4GHz HT proc.Placing a slow HDD on the PC is really I believe my company HDD WD Carviar 40GB is the same model with yours.

@fylon,bad sector kills the speed and performance.Boycott him. Paired with a lausy board...spechless...usually company will use lausy mobo and lausy HDD too!

@fylon,you can try to o/c with the lausy board.I bet 2.8GHz isn't a problem for it.
