First experience with HLeBroking's foreign exchange platform went down the drain. sad.gif

It keeps giving me silly reason that it's unable to process my order due to sector suspended. Called the toll free & the broker's first attempt failed until he changed to "another system". I don't really enjoy calling the broker every time I want to place an order but I'm not sure if this issue is unique only to HLeBroking or other local brokerages as well.

sorry to ask a noob question, what do u mean "foreign exchange" ? Do u mean foreign currency as commonly known as forex? or do u mean other Exchanges?
*
Nothing to be sorry about. Foreign exchange = exchanges outside of Malaysia such as NYSE / NASDAQ & others. Local exchange = Bursa / KLSE.

When you said "Other System", what does it mean? You mean the dealer place order for you? In this case, offline rate was charged then. Right?
*
I'm not sure exactly what he meant but I believe those trading desk guys have another platform to place their orders since it's not possible to do so via their IRISS platform.

He gave me online rate since he wasn't sure what went wrong with my trading account. However, now that they've informed me that IRISS is not able to accommodate ARCA stocks, the next time I wanna sell my DWTI, I've to call the trading desk guys again with offline rate. sad.gif

I think I'll stick with KLSE for HLeB & will migrate to offshore brokerage for NYSE.

I managed to trade ARCA stocks. I think i bought Vanguard's S&P 500 index.  hmm.gif
But you're right, needed to give them a call.
*
So you're getting offline rate for the ARCA stocks right?

I think this is an disadvantage to HLeB clients since CIMB is able to trade ARCA stocks online.

No, the call was to activate my account to enable me to trade ARCA stocks.
I bought it online myself.

Noted. My back-and-forth emails to Jessica from HLeB ended up with the conclusion that HLeB can only accommodate certain ARCA stocks, in which they can help you activate them for online trade should you inform them prior to the trade (your scenario).

Unfortunately, some ARCA stocks can't be done the same way & the only option is to trade them offline (my scenario). sad.gif

Wow.... you both sounds like foreign shares taiko.... Can enlighten me a bit or not. What is ARCA?
*
I'm a newbie myself. sweat.gif

Anyway, long story short, some of the ETF / ETN that I'm interested in happen to be categorized under ARCA & HLeB doesn't seem to have full accessibility on them.

I think these 2 links below can explain ARCA better:

Went down the drain means lose money or just bad experience with the process?

My bad for the ambiguity. It's the experience that I was referring to. notworthy.gif

You probably got your answer, but just in case others want to know, you'll need to email them to get the rates.

I asked and there's no discounted rates for foreign stocks. Ended up withdrawing all my foreign currency and parking it with Ameritrade.
*
If I may ask, TDA Asia? If yes, did HLeBroking agreed to facilitate your USD witdrawal directly to TDA Asia?

No. Transferred to my FCA and did another transfer over to TDAA.

I see. Any recommendation on favourable FCA among all the banks in Malaysia? I looked through a few of them such as Maybank & HSBC but the T&C seems to discourage short term "parking" purpose.

HLebroking easy to use ? I plan to use buy via online. Any advise ?

Define "easy"? Been using it for a couple years & I don't think it's any different compared to the other brokerages out there.
