Bro, can PM me options which are avialble and the price to me if i wan to increase the signal strength of my wifi. Using Linksys WRT 54G, located at 1st floor, the signal at ground floor is kind of weak, so wish to boost the signal.
Do i need the receiver to have similiar receiving strength as the upgraded transceiver later? |

keep in mind bro, 1km link only can be done if the 2 points are in LOS (line of sight). Take note also about vertical polirization of that antenna which i think is around only 15 degree.
I personally done 1.4km point to point link (means using 2 AP + 2 -8dBi antenna), ~400m AP to Client (AP to laptop) link, and recent project involved in ~600m point to point no LOS in klang. Mind to elaborate the setup u used? Means not only hardware, but softwares, wallmouting used, power setup, and method of your testing? |

Mind to elaborate the setup u used? Means not only hardware, but softwares, wallmouting used, power setup, and method of your testing? test setup: - mount the antenna vertically using the mounting bracket on the 1st floor - then plug antenna cable to a router, ie ddwrt-54gl. tx power varies, but result still the same. - establishing a point-to-multipoint network. didnt use netstumbler or any other software, just use laptop to see how far the signal goes. if i cant get the signal, there's no point of using any software. do u think the antenna got problem? i oso notice the signal is not actually 360 deg., but ~45deg left + right. u sounded like an experienced networker. what ap did u used? how bout other antenna owners? |

So far i have installed many using WRT54GL, WRT150N and Buffalo WHR Series no problems, all using DD-WRT Special firmware or V24 stable :-) . Of course the TX powered is increased :-) to achieved powerfull signal, I think you better read DD-WRT Wikipedia and Forum, there is the place where you seek help to do the modding.
Some of buyers of this antenna prefer to do self installations without proper knowledge of networking and the hardware. Of course if u want to DIY it require hard work and reference. If u wish to hired us to do the installation and pay us, we would love to but it's kinda pricey. This post has been edited by MX510: Jun 30 2008, 12:56 PM |
