that abit AX78 actually is AMD 770 chipset mobo while gigabyte one is AMD 780 chipset.

setfsb and clockgen don't support TA770A2+

they don't work on biostar TA770A2+
the clock generator model on TA770A2+ is unidentified by setfsb and clockgen

software oc is a compulsory for extreme overclock
and it has nothing to do with recommended or not

value ram used to bottleneck the overclocks as they cannot stand on the 75ns trfc and >7ns for MAL.
try to change the trfc to 195ns , MAL to 9ns ( if it is available in bios )
also, please provide CPU-Z and memset screenshot. It's easier to know where you stuck by looking at the SS

i wonder, why not stick to 2T always?
and the memory divider, you are overclocking your ram already.
yeah i know, you said you've changed them,
instead of giving this old result, why not provide the changed setting SS?
also the MAL, it's very tight.
change it to 8ns in bios if can

1st, you change all of them.
memory divider, command rate, trfc and MAL.
then you slowly find out, what's the highest point you can hit.
then you stay there, take SS
there is no point to provide old SS, it doesn't show your current situation

edited: use memset 3.4 if can, it shows trfc values

oh ya, I read somewhere else,
people said AMD has made enhancement on 790FX chippo.
all these chips able to hit 450-500HTT easily.
Also, 7XX series chipsets are designed as energy saver.
That are some of the great features for 7XX series mobo

i will stay at AMD side until the end of K8 era (officially)
also, joining darkside doesn't mean i will dump my AMD rig
My current rig, i plan to use it as HTPC / BT machine in future

500HTT , I don't think we need to use up to that stage for both stable & extreme overclocks
really have to think twice before you go,
with that amount of money , can get much more better rig already
